As well as breeding the three-year-old trophy winner Ha Ha,
Swettenham Stud's influence on the Magic Millions raceday continued with the first and
second placegetters in the two-year-old classic. Lovely
Jubly won the classic with a powerful finish to down the Gai Waterhouse trained Chuckle.
The winner is by the leading first season sire Lion Hunter,
a son of the Swettenham bred Group One winner Pure of Heart.
Pure of Heart, who won the George Ryder Stakes in Sydney,
is a daughter of the wonder mare Audrey Joan.
A stakes winner on the track, Audrey Joan is now better
known for the efforts of her famous family.
The Doutelle mare is the dam of six runners, and all were
stakes performers.
As well as Pure of Heart, Audrey Joan is responsible for
the Group Two winner Field Hand, Group Three winners Prego and River Dane and French
stakes placed pair Danhagen and Son of Joan.
The Group Three winner River Dane has also been a gem of a
broodmare. She is the dam of Idol Worship and grandam of Happy Giggle, Cult Figure,
Schubert and Livelihood.
The Swettenham success in the race wasn't only restricted
to the winner.
Early leader and eventual runner-up Chuckle is also heavily
linked to the famous Swettenham Stud. Her dam Clowning was sold by Swettenham when in foal
to Danehill. The resultant foal was Chuckle. |
