Exaggerate, a $450,000 yearling purchase at Karaka
last year, has scored an impressive win on debut for the Cups king Bart Cummings at
Geelong this afternoon. Cummings puchased the
attractive bay colt, who is by champion kiwi sire Zabeel, at the 2000 Premier Yearling
Sale in New Zealand for owned Robert Ng.
Exaggerate is from the Red Tempo mare Enhancer, amking him a
full brother to the 2000 Auckland Cup winner Able Master.
After a third placing in a Ballarat trial nearly three weeks
ago the colt faced the starter for the first time today and duly won well.
With Brett Prebble in the saddle Exaggerate was too classy
for his opposition and at the end of the 1300 metre race the pairing had skipped two
lengths clear of their rivals.
Jumping a 5/2 equal favourite with Cedar Lodge in the Harvey
Travel 3YO Maiden Plate, the well bred three-year-old was able to easily defeat that
galloper who finished second. Third home was Ted's Eagle.
