Race 1 - GREENFRIEGHT S.V. 2Y.O HANDICAP - 1000M
Acting on a report from the Starter regarding the unruly
behaviour of PICK POCKETER whilst being loaded into the Barriers, Stewards interviewed Mr.
D. Archer, Trainer of the gelding and Mr. R. Park, Starter, Mr. I. MacIntosh, Assistant
Starter and Mr. T. Hearps, Supervisor of Barrier attendants. Mr. D. Archer was notified
that a warning would be placed against PICK POCKETER and should the gelding re-offend in
future further action may be taken. Mr. Archer was also notified that he must be in
receipt of a barrier certificate for PICK POCKETER prior to the gelding starting again. As
a result of PICK POCKETER'S actions the start of the race was delayed.
LEICA CHIEF jumped awkwardly and lost some ground. Shortly
after the start ASHKONI was hampered when tightened for room by ROCKY PORT which shifted
in away from UNCLE SPEED.
In the early and middle stages of the race SMASH HITS raced
greenly.
Race 2 -GAPSTED WINES S.V. 3Y.O. MAIDEN PLATE -
1600M
In the early stages of the race LUNCH BOX got its head in
the air when being restrained. Near 1400m LUNCH BOX and TENTERFIELD DANE came together.
Near 900m LAFTER, which had improved up onto the heels of
SHINING SYMBOLS, then had to be restrained off that gelding's heels.
Race 3 - CALTEX SERVO BYNON'S ICE / MYRTLEFORD
TYREPOWER MDN PL- 1000M
BLALOCKS ROSE was examined by the Club Veterinarian at the
Barrier and passed fit to run.
PINDARI'S ACE jumped away awkwardly which resulted in M.
Thornley, the mares' rider becoming unbalanced and the mare losing ground.
MISS SUZI QUE was slow to begin.
Throughout the race BALLINA had a tendency to hang out.
Race 4 -BUFFALO HOTEL/MYRTLEFORD BAKEHOUSE MDN PLT
- 1400M
In the early part of the straight PINDARIC UNION shifted
out and hampered MITCH'S MAGIC. From the 100m until the winning post JOHN'S RIVER was
disappointed for a clear run.
Race 5 - FRANK'S FOODWORKS MYRTLEFORD TOWN PLATE -
1180M
CADE was slightly slow to begin.
Race 6 -MYRTLEFORD FURNISHING'S CLASS 2 HANDICAP -
1180M
Upon pulling up his mount L Beer rider of JEST PAULA 3rd
placegetter felt distressed and dismounted and was then treated by the ambulance
attendants.Due to this L Beer was unable to weigh in.As stewards were satisfied that JEST
PAULA had carried its allotted weight correct weight was declared.
Race 7 - MCPHERSONS EARTHMOVERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP -
1400M
Near the 900m NARTARLEE was checked when tightened for room
by SPECIAL EIRE which had improved quickly on the inside of MAGIC GLOW (E Marchant) and
was then taken in by that mare which shifted in.E Marchant was severely reprimanded
and notified that he must ensure that he is fully clear of other runners when he shifts
ground in future.
In the early part of the straight OILCAN HARRY(NZ) shifted
in and made contact with ADD SILK on two occasions.
Race 8 -ABBOTT'S VALLEY MOTORS CLASS 2 HANDICAP -
1600M
B Ward rider of SCARPIA 2nd placegetter viewed the stewards
films before deciding to lodge an objection against I'M NOTTI winner of the race for
alleged interference from the 200m until the winning post.After taking evidence from the
relevant parties and reviewing the films the objection was dismissed.It was established
that near the 200m I'M NOTTI shifted out and brushed SCARPIA and from then on SCARPIA
continued to shift out away from I'M NOTTI which shifted out slightly under pressure.
Rounding the home turn KELTASTROPHE was held up for a run.
