Race 1 - Own A Piece Of The Action Maiden Plate - 1600 Metres

On arrival at the barrier Superior Man was resaddled.

Approaching the winning post, Coral Key had to be eased to avoid the heels of Umight, which shifted out under pressure.

R. Aitken, rider of Garnet explained that he sat quietly on the mare over the concluding stages of the race, as Garnet felt sore in front. On return to scale it was noticed that Garnet had sustained a cut to its off hind leg.

D Yendall, rider of Spartak stated that his mount began to weaken badly after passing the 800 metres and for this reason he eased the gelding down in the home straight, a subsequent veterinary examination of Spartak revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 2 - Johno's Diner 4YO & Up Maiden Plate - 1200 Metres

Fahy's Carlow began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start Our Poetic Dream shifted in abruptly and took Gray O'Toole in across the running of Amia resulting in that horse having to be checked.

After passing the 800 metres Export Fighter lost ground when reluctant to hold its position on the inside of I'm a Reddy.

Approaching the 100 metres El Volar was inconvenienced and taken in off it's course by Taylor Made (Miss C Cole) which shifted in. Miss Cole was notified that she must attempt to straighten her mounts sooner than she did on this occasion.

Prior to correct weight being declared M Heagney, rider of Fahy's Carlow, fourth place getter requested to view the official photo finish print. After viewing the print M Heagney agreed with the judges placings.

Race 3 - Warracknabeal Tyre Service S/Vobis 3YO Maiden Plate - 1200 Metres

On jumping away Avalanche shifted in and tightened Red Beacon.

Approaching the 1000 metres Alfstad shifted out and took Red Roach out onto Worth a Mention.

Shortly after this Red Roach had to be checked when tightened for room between Alfstad and Worth a Mention which was taken in by Avalanche which shifted in .

When being checked Red Roach contacted the hindquarters of Alfstad, resulting in that colt being turned outwards. After taking into account the circumstances, Stewards took no action other than to notify A Spiteri, rider of Avalanche that he must ensure he is clear of other runners when shifting ground in the future.

Between the 600 metres and the 400 metres Red Roach was held up for a run. After obtaining a run after passing the 400 metres Red Roach shifted in and bumped Allo Harry resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced.

At the entrance to the straight Coach's Blast had to be eased to avoid the heels of Red Roach, which shifted out when improving.

Race 4 - Café Pharmacino F & M Class 2 Handicap - 1100 Metres

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Ms Helen Burns-Trevena, trainer of Condensation who stated that the mare was lame in the off hind leg and was unfit to run, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Condensation at 8:33am. Ms Burns-Trevena will submit a veterinary certificate in respect of Condensation to the Club.

Near the 800 metres So It Seems became unbalanced when tightened for room by Galway Sparkler which shifted in slightly.

Approaching the 600 metres Shrug had to be severely checked off the heels of Sunday Sequel when that mare was eased off the heels of So It Seems when the pace slackened. When being checked Shrug made contact with My Zena.

Race 5 - Tooheys New Handicap - 1600 Metres

On the latter part of the home turn and at the entrance to the straight Majestic Hawk was held up for a run.

Race 6 - JJ O'Connor & Sons Class 3 Handicap - 2000 Metres

Shortly after the start Rift attempted to buck for some distance before being pulled up by its rider. Mr G Reynolds, representing Mr G Mance, trainer of the gelding was notified that Rift was suspended from racing for his behaviour today until such time that the gelding trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an organised trial. In arriving at their decision Stewards took into account that Rift had previously performed in a similar manner.

Rounding the home turn King of Glory had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

Race 7 - Amor Motors Nissan Class 4 Handicap - 1200 Metres

Shortly after the start New Status had to be checked when tightened for room between Jack of Spades and Chicago Gold which was taken out by Gleeso, which shifted out abruptly.

Gleeso hung out for some distance after passing the 700 metres.

Race 8 - Clyne Asphalt & Concrete Class 1 Handicap - 1600 Metres

Juno Beach was slow to begin.

Approaching and passing the 400 metres Chelsea's Millions was held up.

Near the 400 metres Houdini Tricks,which was weakening, was tightened for room by Cornish Boy (Miss L. Bant), which shifted in.  Miss Bant was notified to exercise greater care when shifting ground in the future.

  • Race 3 - A swab sample was taken from race winner Avalanche
  • Race 5 - A swab sample was taken from race winner Star of Brooklyn
  • Race 7 - A swab sample was taken from race winner Speeding Turtle
