Race 1 - WERRIBEE TINT-A-CAR CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1100 metres:

In the mounting yard, Shania Heights, which was fractious, became cast over the mounting yard fence. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Shania Heights on veterinary advice at 12.23 pm. Subsequent to the race, the Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on Shania Heights be refunded, and the following alteration to the betting: all successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of Shania Heights are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets, 39 cents; Place Bets, 32 cents; Winning Concession Bets, 36 cents; Doubles Bets, 39 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.

Race 2 - WESTPOINT FORD SUPER VOBIS 2-Y-0 MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres:

At the start, Land Lady jumped out on to Exclusive Appeal, and Top Squire jumped away awkwardly and lost considerable ground. Shortly after the start, Mad Azelle was hampered when tightened on to the hindquarters of Red Eyed Bliss by Confessing, which shifted in.

Near the 1000 metres, Sierra Madre laid in away from Sanguinity and was then checked to avoid the heels of True Glo, which was shifting out slightly.

From the 600 metres until straightening, Sierra Madre was held up for a run.

Approaching and rounding the home turn, Mad Azelle hung out.

Race 3 - WERRIBEE RACECOURSE HOTEL FILLIES & MARES MDN PLTE - 1100 metres:

Approaching the 800 metres, La Mome Piaf was checked when tightened for room between Kaimata Au Pair (NZ) , which shifted out, and Miss Venezuala, which was taken in by Proud Courage. Passing the 800 metres, Brave Cover was checked and Desert Cristi was tightened for room by Nardoo Pegasus, which laid in away from Wild Sugar before that mare then shifted in.

Prior to correct weight, D Smith, rider of Liwa Lady, second place-getter, viewed the Stewards' patrol video with a view to lodging an objection. It was established that upon straightening, Liwa Lady, when making ground had to be checked when attempting a narrow run on the inside of Drury's Classic (M Evans) which shifted in to obtain a run on the inside of Nardoo Pegasus, which shifted out. M Evans was severely reprimanded and notified to exercise far more care when shifting ground in future.

Race 4 - WEERAMA CLASS 6 CUP - 2000 metres:

After confirming with Mr Peter Healey, trainer of Augusta, who stated that the gelding had knocked itself at the stable and was unfit to start, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Augusta at 11.28 am.

Race 5 - KRUEGER TRANSPORT EQUIPMENT CLASS 2 HANDICAP- 1400 metres:

Passing the 1100 metres, Carisbrook Park raced ungenerously when being restrained.

L Dowson, rider of fifth place-getter, was notified to ride all his mounts out to the end of the race.

Prior to correct weight being declared, C Symons, rider of Proven Angel, the fourth placegetter, wished to view the start of the race with respect to lodging an objection. It was established that at the start Proven Angel, which had jumped awkwardly and outwards, was then tightened for room between King Pasha and Smytzer's Officer, which had shifted in.

Race 6 - TOOHEYS-ESCAPE WITH YOUR MATES CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Nil Report.

Race 7 - WESTWOOD FIRST NATIONAL SUPER VOBIS 3YO CLASS 1 HDP - 1100 metres:

Passing the 800 metres, Debt Free shifted out and accidentally clipped the heels of Wistle 'N' Squizz, which had shifted in away from Dealer's Edge. As a result of this, Debt Free almost fell.

Approaching the 600 metres, Lynches, which had been racing greenly, was checked when tightened for room between Bound To Score and Wistle 'N' Squizz , which was taken in by Dealer's Edge (C Dean). C Dean was notified was notified to exercise far more care when shifting ground in future. Shortly after this incident, Our Class Poet shifted out abruptly when the saddle shifted.

Passing the 600 metres, Bound To Score, which had obtained a narrow run on the inside of Bachi, was checked when tightened for room by Bachi, which had been taken in by Our Class Poet, whose saddle had shifted and was proving difficult to ride, before being taken in further by Dealer's Edge (C Dean). C Dean was notified to exercise far more care when shifting ground in future. M Alesci, rider of Our Class Poet, was unable to ride his mount out for the remainder of the race due to his saddle having slipped.

On arrival at the course, Quaytman was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon, who reported that the gelding was lame in the near-hind and unfit to start. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Quaytman at 2.52 pm.

Race 8 - GAFFNEY LOGISTICS MAIDEN PLATE - 2000 metres:

Near the 500 metres, Tijuana Taxi (NZ) checked over the heels of Prospect Hill (NZ).

Rounding the home turn, G Eades, rider of Zabeelia Rose (NZ), accidentally hit Our Prince Naseem (NZ) across the head with his whip.

C Massey, rider of Eye Ball, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that near the 150 metres, after shifting out to obtain a run between Pindarri's Fortune and Zabeelia Rose (NZ) and making contact with Zabeelia Rose (NZ), he then shifted out further across the running of Zabeelia Rose (NZ) which resulted in that filly clipping the heels of Eye Ball and almost falling. C Massey was suspended from race riding for a period to commence at midnight on the 29th March and to expire at midnight on the 13th of April.

Subsequent to the race, the Club veterinary surgeon reported that Runalot Lass had suffered a wound to the off-fore.

After confirming with Mr Gary Lee, trainer of Dhoom Rhya, who stated that the gelding was showing signs of an allergic reaction and was unfit to start, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 12.36 pm.

SWAB SAMPLES - routine swab samples were taken from the winners of the following races today: Race 1, Let's Went (NZ); Race 3, Drury's Classic; Race 4, Banff; Race 7, Wistle 'N' Squizz.

A random swab sample was taken from Pace Car (NZ), which ran unplaced in Race 6.

FINES AND NOTIFICATIONS:

Mr Stuart Webb, trainer of Show 'Em Power in Race 2, was fined the sum of $30 for using the Club colours.
