Near the 600 metres "Teaposit" was eased when tightened for room by "Taitwig", which shifted in.

In the early part of the straight "Teaposit" had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

Race 2 - SUPER VOBIS 3YO COLTS & GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE - 1110 metres:

"Le Moola" was slow to begin.

Rounding the home turn "Gold Coup" was held up for a run.

V. Hall, rider of "Gold Nuggets" which performed poorly, explained that the colt hung out from the 500 metres and felt amiss in its action. V. Hall added that for this reason he did not ride the colt right out to the end of the race. The Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that his examination revealed no abnormality.

Race 3 - SUPER VOBIS THREE-YEARS-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE - 1110 metres:

The Stewards questioned V. Hall regarding his riding of "Ninya". Hall explained that the filly, after jumping slowly away and losing ground in the early stages, was then held up from the 600 metres until straightening and was again inconvenienced passing the 200 metres when eased off the heels of "Confetti Girl".

Race 4 - CITY RAIDERS SOFTBALL CLUB CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1010 metres:

Prior to correct weight being declared F. Alesci, rider of "Trusty Tomas", and trainer G. Egan, viewed the patrol video with respect to ascertaining whether the gelding had been denied a fair start. After viewing the video and taking evidence from the Club's Starter and a barrier attendant, the Stewards deemed 'Trusty Tomas" to be a runner. It was established that as the gates opened "Trusty Tomas", which had been restless in its starting stall, threw its head in the air and was slow to begin.

In the early and middle stages of the race "Right Action (NZ)" was reluctant to stretch out. The Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that he could find no abnormality with the mare subsequent to the race.

Race 5 - WERRIBEE R.S.L. FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 5 HANDICAP - 1620 metres:

In the early stages of the race the saddle on "Mishkah" shifted forward, placing Tenille Gray, its rider, at a disadvantage.

Lisa Irwin, rider of "Joyance", accidentally dropped her whip near the 200 metres.

Race 6 - HOPPERS CROSSING SPORTS CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1420 metres:

No report.

Race 7 - WERRIBEE ORCHID CLUB CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1620 metres:

Near the 1100 metres "Stolen Crown" was tightened and "Beau Prediction" was checked when tightened for room by "Arc's Shadow" which, when over-racing, was taken in by "Platonic Love (NZ)" (Chris Symons), which shifted in when also over-racing. "Black Watch", "Lorrelee" and "Platonic Love (NZ)", which were following, were hampered in consequence. After taking into account all the circumstances and accepting that "Proven Angel" had a tendency to shift in when over-racing, the Stewards notified Chris Symons that they would expect him to make a greater attempt to straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion.

In the early part of the straight "Lexitaw" was held up for a run, and was again disappointed for a run near the 100 metres.

Near the 150 metres "Stolen Crown" was disappointed for a run between "Lorrelee" and "Black Watch".

Near the 50 metres "Star of Siam" was checked off the heels of "Proven Angel" (Chris Symons), which shifted in. Chris Symons was reprimanded and notified to exercise far more care when shifting ground in future.

Race 8 - TOOHEYS NEW SUPER VOBIS 3YO FILLIES CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1420m:

Near the 700 metres "Runon" was hampered by "Miss Mayfair" (D. Nikolic), which shifted out. D. Nikolic was notified to exercise more care in future.

Near the 400 metres "Princess Bubbles" was tightened for room between "Miss Mayfair" and "Break the Mould" (L. Currie), which shifted out. L. Currie was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Rounding the home turn "Runon" lost its footing when brushed on the inside by "Princess Bubbles".

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of the following races: "Ruby's Jester" - Race 2; "Greek Adonis" - Race 4; "Bidaily" - Race 6, and from "Carisbrook Park" - Race 7.

Four horses were pre-race blood tested for post-race analysis.

FINES/EXPLANATIONS: R. Cameron, trainer of "Ninya", which ran in Race 3 - was fined $200 for failing to produce the document of description for the filly which was having its first start today.

R. Cameron was also fined $50 for his late notification of V. Hall as the rider of "Ninya".
