Race 1 - Country Owners Racing Challenge Maiden Plate - 1600m

Approaching the 1400m Pagarno hung out and lost ground. Pagarno continued to hang out throughout the race.

Race 2 - Super Vobis Three Years Old Maiden Plate - 1600m

In the early stages of the race Heroic Fraar raced ungenerously, placing its rider at a disadvantage.

Race 3 - Nissan Country Three Years Old & Up Maiden Plate - 1200m

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr J Mason, foreman of Mr M Riley , trainer of FLASH CROWN (first emergency), who explained that due to a breakdown in communication between himself and Mr Riley, subsequent to discovering that the colt had gained a start he had neglected to scratch FLASH CROWN at the required deadline, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of FLASH CROWN at 11:52 am.An inquiry into this matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed. Approaching the winning post NEW GAME shifted in abruptly, and inconvenienced SKOOTER. When his mount was shifting ground, J Barnett, rider of NEW GAME, dropped his near side rein. D Larsson, rider of BOGART'S CHARM, which performed poorly, explained that the colt did not travel well at any stage throughout the race, and was a beaten horse when placed under pressure near the 800m. A subsequent veterinary examination of BOGART'S CHARM revealed no abnormalities.

Race 4 - Warracknabeal Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap - 1100m

HELL OF A TOY was slow to begin. Near the 400m HULYAIR became unbalanced when tightened for room between BLUSH DAMASK and QUEEN MIDAS, which shifted out slightly. After passing the 200m HULYAIR had to be checked when tightened for room between RARE PRAISE, which laid in away from the heels of CHELISE MARIE and LUNAR STREAK, which shifted out after being contacted by HULYAIR.

Race 5 - Tooheys New Open Handicap - 1200m

Near the 1000m CELLAR DWELLER had to be checked when tightened for room between SPANISH ARMS, which shifted out slightly, and RED VISTA (C Massey), which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. C Massey was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in the future. For the majority of the home straight BENAZZI hung in and proved difficult to ride. After passing the 200m Entropy was inconvenienced by CELLAR DWELLER, which shifted in.

Race 6 - Members Trip to Warrnambool Class 1 Handicap - 1600m

AMISTAD and SCREMUS were slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m LE CHEVAL NOIR shifted in, and contacted the hindquarters of VISIBILITY. For some distance in the home straight SCREMUS was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.

Race 7 - JJ O'Connor & Sons Class 4 Handicap - 2000m

When the gates opened DUELLING stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. Mr G Sherer, trainer of DUELLING, was notified that an official warning would be placed against the gelding for its behaviour today. Mr Sherer was further notified that if DUELLING performs in a similar manner in the future, further action may be taken. Approaching the winning post the first time VOODOO BUBBLES had to be eased when tightened for room by NORTON, which was taken in slightly by COOL CONDIE. Near the 200m COOL CONDIE shifted in under pressure and brushed NORTON.

Race 8 - Amor Motors Nissan Class 1 Handicap - 1200m

Approaching and passing the 500m, MOELLA was held up for a run. When questioned regarding his riding in the home straight, K Post ,rider of MOELLA, explained that after being held up prior to straightening, he shifted in to obtain a run to the inside of BELLYBUTTON. K Post added that he then elected not to persevere with that run, as he was concerned that BELLYBUTTON was shifting in under pressure, and that BABY BLUES ,which was weakening had commenced to shift out. K Post further added that as he was concerned that the opening would close as he improved he then elected to shift out in an effort to obtain a clear run. K. Post's explanation was accepted.
