C. Symons replaced K. Louca as the rider of
OUR AGGASSI (NZ) owing to K. Louca being indisposed through injury.
A swab sample was taken from OLONGOPO,
winner of the race.
Racing in the vicinity of the 800 metres
ROSE OF SIENA (S. Price) shifted in resulting in RIDE THE STORM (W. Kerford), which had
commenced to take a tight run between ROSE OF SIENA and SALLY ROSE (Darren Holland), being
taken in onto SALLY ROSE resulting in that mare being tightened for galloping room, making
contact with the rail and losing its position. W. Kerford was given the benefit of the
doubt by Stewards as to whether he was solely responsible for this incident.
RACE 2: ALANBRIDGE STUD
BEAUTIFUL CROWN HANDICAP
A swab sample was taken from
TERMINUS PRINCE, winner of the race.
On jumping away LIBERTY ROSE (S. Price)
shifted in abruptly; at the same time PRINCESS TAYLAH (J. Bowditch) shifted out, resulting
in SMOOTH AS SILK (C. Buchiw), RIGHTFULLY OURS (D. Azis), BO BEST (C. Lever) and RAZZIA
(P. Gatt) being tightened for galloping room.
Following the running of this race
Stewards received a deputation from a number of riders expressing concern in relation to
the visibility, owing to the state of the track. Following an inspection of the track by
Stewards and Riders, a decision was made to abandon the meeting at 1.10pm.
GENERAL
Stewards today concluded their inquiry
in relation to an incident that occurred in the vicinity of the 1000 metre mark during the
Baker Young Stockbrokers Class One Handicap run at Balaklava on Wednesday, 22 August 2001.
Further evidence was taken today from D. Carney rider of MANILOW, L. Smith rider of KENTON
KNIGHT, M. Neilsen rider of CLASSIC WHITE and Mr. Barry Dunn, Master of M. Neilsen. M.
Neilsen was subsequently charged with Careless Riding under ARR 137(a) and after being
found guilty of the charge was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at
midnight 25th August and to expire at midnight on Wednesday, 5th
September 2001; a period of two metropolitan meetings. |
