CUTTY SARK HANDICAP
A swab sample was taken from COSMIC
STRIKE, winner of the race.
WISE CRACKER (J. Maund) and ELATHEA (B.
Vale) were both slow to begin.
STAND TOUGH (D. Tootell) showed a tendency
to lay in throughout the event.
C. Symons, rider of second placegetter
AUTUMN BELLE, was fined the sum of $50 for dropping his whip approximately 50 metres prior
to the line.
RACE 2: GUINNESS STEEPLECHASE
A swab sample was taken from REAL
ZEAL (NZ), winner of the race.
JUST DYNAMITE (S. McGovern) and LAZZA (S.
Pateman) were slow to begin.
LAKE PARIS (C. Maher) landed awkwardly
after jumping the fence situated in the vicinity of the 400 metres on the first occasion
resulting in that rider almost being dislodged.
FIDDLERS GREEN (P. Carberry) landed
awkwardly after jumping the fence situated at the 200 metres on the first occasion
resulting in that gelding shifting in and making contact with CURRINSKY (R. Geraghty).
JUST FOR DON knuckled on landing after
jumping the fence situated in the vicinity of the 1400 metres on the second occasion
resulting in that geldings rider P. Thomas almost being dislodged.
In the vicinity of the 1100 metres LAZZA
(S. Pateman) clipped the heels of CURRINSKY (R. Geraghty) when that gelding rolled out.
TEMERARIUS knuckled on landing after
jumping the second last fence resulting in that gelding making contact with the running
rail and in consequence N. Mulholland, rider of the gelding, was dislodged. A Veterinary
inspection of TEMERARIUS following the running of the race revealed a laceration to the
near fore pastern. N. Mulholland was uninjured as a result of the incident.
Mr. F. OConnor trainer of GREAT WHITE
SHARK (NZ) was advised that the gelding was now banned from steeplechasing until such time
as it can trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official steeple school, after
that gelding performed poorly throughout todays event.
LAKE PARIS lost an off fore plate during
the running of the race.
FIDDLERS GREEN suffered a laceration
to off fore pastern during the running of the event.
RACE 3: THE ARMAGH HANDICAP
A swab sample was taken from GREY
LINE, winner of the race.
SKIPPER lost an off fore plate during the
running of the race.
RACE 4: CLANCYS HURDLE
A swab sample was taken from
KASTABON (NZ), winner of the race.
PAISANO (R. Geraghty) was slow to begin.
In the vicinity of the 600 metres SLOANE
(N. Mulholland) rolled in resulting in ZOFFS LAD (W. Williams) being taken in onto
the tiring GEMQUEE (S Pateman) which resulted in that mare becoming unbalanced for a short
distance.
RACE 5: THE NAUTILUS HANDICAP
A swab sample was taken from MYSTIC
GREY, winner of the race.
On jumping away DIMURTA (W. Kerford) jumped
inwards; at the same time FLIRT WITH DANGER (D. Tootell) jumped outwards, resulting in
CROSS ME NOT (J. Bowditch), which was between those horses, being inconvenienced.
RACE 6: THE REDBANK HANDICAP
The start of this race was delayed
three minutes owing to EASY LANDING having to be replated at the barrier.
A swab sample was taken from MANETTI,
winner of the race.
In the vicinity of the 1200 metres GO RADAR
(D. Azis) shifted in and away from INKAMULLA (NZ) (D. Carney) resulting in AT RISK (G.
Hoobin) being taken in onto AL BATROUN (D. Tootell).
EASY LANDING lost an off fore plate during
the running of the event.
A veterinary inspection of FIREBALL
following the running of the race revealed lameness in the near foreleg.
RACE 7: YALUMBA THE
SIGNATURE HANDICAP
Correct Weight was delayed in being
semaphored for this event to allow S. Price, rider of VARGNA, to view the official head-on
film in the straight. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was
declared.
A swab sample was taken from CATANGO,
winner of the race.
In the vicinity of the 400 metres MINT OF
GOLD (P. Gatt) and CATANGO (D. Dunn) brushed together.
In the vicinity of the 100 metres, MINT OF
GOLD (P. Gatt) shifted out slightly resulting in VARGNA (S. Price) being inconvenienced.
RACE 8: MAWSONS HANDICAP
Stewards questioned J. Maund into
the reason for him being declared the rider of LA CIMBALI (NZ) and PALING GAGAH in this
event. After taking evidence from that rider and Mr. M. Kavanagh, trainer of LA CIMBALI
(NZ), J. Maund was fined the sum of $100 for accepting two engagements in this event.
A swab sample was taken from ACCELERATING,
winner of the race.
In the vicinity of the 200 metres PAT AND
PAY (M. Allen) shifted in under riding resulting in ZIP INFATUATION (D. Dunn) being taken
in. At the same time ZIP INFATUATION shifted in and away from PAT AND PAY resulting in
SCENICY (D. Carney) being taken in onto PALING GAGAH (J. Maund) who in turn was taken in
onto GATTON (J. Bowditch) resulting in that gelding having to be checked and losing its
position. Stewards took no further action as they believed no one rider was
responsible. |
