RACE 1: MAYBE BABY HANDICAP

A swab sample was taken from INSIGHTFUL, winner of the race.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres OUTBACK AUSSIE (R Faehr) shifted in, resulting in PUSHING DAISIES (J Holder) being inconvenienced; that filly then showed a tendency to over-race for some distance after this incident.

Racing to the 400 metres, and for some considerable distance, PUSHING DAISIES (J Holder), showed a tendency to lay out badly placing that rider at a disadvantage.

PRINCESS RORY (P Gatt) showed a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages of the race.

RACE 2: RACE ON HANDICAP

A swab sample was taken from BACARDI AND DRY, winner of the race.

IKAROS (S Cahill) jumped away awkwardly, resulting in that gelding making contact with the inside gate of its stall. S Cahill reported to Stewards that after this incident IKAROS had taken some time to balance up and had not shown early pace in the race, despite his riding of the gelding and formed the opinion IKAROS would be better suited over a journey of 1200 metres. S. Cahill added in the vicinity of the 300 metres IKAROS had become unbalanced for a short distance when negotiating a crossing on the track. Stewards noted the explanations tendered by S Cahill.

RACE 3: BUDDY HOLLY HANDICAP

A swab sample was taken from SACAGAWEA, winner of the race.

On jumping away SACAGAWEA (J Lorensini) jumped inwards, at the same time as SAUVIGNON HILL (J Bowditch) jumped outwards, resulting in TALANTO (P Gatt) being tightened for galloping room.

In the vicinity of the 1500 metres SAUVIGNON HILL (J Bowditch) commenced to race fiercely, resulting in the colt being forced to shift out to avoid the heels of PRIMED FOR GLORY (J Holder).

RACE 4: PEGGY SUE HANDICAP

A swab sample was taken from SPICE DOLL, winner of the race.

In the vicinity of the 1000 metres SUPREMELY (T Creek), which was showing a tendency to lay out, shifted out slightly, resulting in BLINI (J Bowditch) and CANMARS (W Kerford) being inconvenienced.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres DHOLIMA’S DAUGHTER (L Smith) shifted out to improve its position, resulting in PRETTY EDGY (D Tootell) having to be eased and shift ground inwards to avoid the heels of DHOLIMA’S DAUGHTER. D Tootell reported to Stewards that he had been instructed to ride PRETTY EDGY in a forward position in today’s race, but despite his riding the mare had failed to respond, resulting in PRETTY EDGY being forced to take a rear position.

Stewards questioned Justin Potter rider of CLASSIC DREAM into the reason for that mare losing contact with the field in the vicinity of the 800 metres. J Potter reported to Stewards he had been instructed to attempt to keep the mare on the outside of other runners, and had allowed CLASSIC DREAM to lose ground in an to attempt to shift the mare to the outside of the field at that stage of the race. Stewards noted the explanations tendered by J Potter, but advised him that in future they would question as to whether there was the need to lose so much ground under similar circumstances.

CLASSIC DREAM showed a tendency to lay in, in the straight.

A Veterinary inspection of SQUIRTLE following the running of the race revealed the mare had pulled up distressed. As a result Mr D O’Sullivan, trainer of SQUIRTLE, was advised that a Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for any future events.

PRETTY EDGY suffered a laceration to the off fore cannon during the running of the race.

RACE 5: THAT’LL BE THE DAY HANDICAP

AVIATE was subject to a Veterinary inspection at the start and passed fit to take its place in the field.

A swab sample was taken from MANETTI, winner of the race.

Racing inside the 1000 metres APTEGO, while being restrained, rolled in, resulting in IRISH JANTEE (W Kerford) being forced to ease to avoid the heels of APTEGO.

Stewards questioned S Price, rider of fifth placegetter AVIATE, into the reason for him failing to weigh in under the Rules. Stewards took no further action after accepting the explanation tendered by that rider.

A Veterinary inspection of IRISH JANTEE following the running of the race revealed no visible abnormalities.

Veterinary Surgeons reported that MANETTI suffered a unilateral bleeding attack to the near side nostril in the swab stall following the running of the race.

RACE 6: BIG BOPPER HANDICAP

A swab sample was taken from ZIP INFATUATION, winner of the race.

In the vicinity of the 1200 metres JESTER’S EDGE (C Lindop), which commenced to race fiercely, was forced to ease to avoid to heels of NOTHING BUT GOLD.

Racing inside the 300 metres NIGHT’S UPON US (S Price) rolled in, resulting in contact being made with OUTSIDE THE SQUARE (M Hoppo).

Over the concluding stages of the race OUTSIDE THE SQUARE (M Hoppo) showed a tendency to lay in, resulting in that rider to momentarily cease riding to straighten the gelding.

RACE 7: LA BAMBA HANDICAP

A swab sample was taken from DIMNESS, winner of the race.

DIMNESS (B Claridge) jumped inwards at the start, resulting in FREAK OUT (D Holland) being taken in onto LOWENDALE ROAD (P Gatt), resulting in that gelding being tightened for galloping room and losing its position.

In the vicinity of the 1100 metres DIMNESS (B Claridge) shifted in, resulting in FREAK OUT (D Holland), which was racing fiercely, being taken in onto LOWENDALE STAR (P Gatt) who in turn was taken in onto RATHER GAZE (R Faehr), resulting in that gelding being inconvenienced. B Claridge was advised by Stewards of his obligation under similar circumstances.

ADDITION (J Holder) showed a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages of the race.

Rounding the home turn ADDITION, who was disappointed for a run, was forced to ease to avoid the heels of DASHING DANCER (J Bowditch).

Racing inside the 400 metres HENRYSEE’S GOLD (H McKechnie) rolled in, resulting in ADDITION (J Holder) having to be eased to avoid the heels of that horse and as a result was disappointed for a run for a short distance.

Racing to the line KELTRITA (J Maund) shifted in slightly, resulting in ADDITION (J Holder) being inconvenienced.

RACE 8: OH BOY! HANDICAP

A swab sample was taken from SOUTHERN WAY, winner of the race.

In the vicinity of the 1700 metres LANCE CORPORAL (J Holder), while being settled, rolled in, resulting in SOUTHERN WAY becoming tightened for galloping room and becoming unbalanced for a short distance. J Holder was advised of his obligations.

Shortly after passing the winning post SOUTHERN WAY (W Kerford) shifted in. In consequence DINKY BARRY (T Creek) was taken in slightly onto COSIPURA (P Marks), which was forced to check.
