RACE 1 - RAY MARRIOT MEMORIAL SUPER VOBIS
3-Y-O MAIDEN PLATE. 1430 Metres.
Due to Club's Veterinary Surgeon arriving late on course
and acting on a report from the Starter regarding "Arch Avenue" which proved
difficult to load into its barrier stall, Mr. R. Cross, trainer of "Arch
Avenue", was notified that prior to the filly racing again, she must trial to the
satisfaction of the Stewards and at which time he must be in receipt of a Barrier
Certificate. As a result if these incidents, the start of the race was delayed.
Near the 700 metres, "Attila" shifted out and
made contact with the hindquarters of "True Wady" turning that gelding inwards.
RACE 2 - ALF & NELL HAMMOND MAIDEN PLATE.
1200 Metres.
After being placed in its barrier stall, "Pure
Profit" reared up and as a result, became cast. "Pure Profit" then broke
through the front of the starting stalls and cantered for a short distance bridleless.
"Pure Profit" was then captured, returned to the barrier and examined by the
Club's Veterinary Surgeon, who deemed that the mare was unfit to take its place in the
field. Acting on this advice, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Pure Profit"
at 1.24 p.m. "Gone Ballistic" which was in the adjoining barrier was
accidentally struck in the head by that mare. "Gone Ballistic" was then removed
from its barrier stall and examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon who deemed the
gelding was fit to take its place in the field. As a result of these incidents the start
of the race was delayed. Subsequent to the race, Stewards further ordered the following
betting deductions:
All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting Pure Profit to be refunded
and that all successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of Pure Profit at 1.24
p.m. are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the
ticket.
WIN BETS: 17 cents
PLACE BETS: 15 cents
WINNING CONCESSION BETS: 17 cents
DOUBLES BETS: 17 cents
All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal
to be paid at face value of ticket.
When the gates opened, "Gone Ballistic" was slow
to start.
At the entrance to the straight, "Swift Swamp"
and "Teddy's Luck" came together.
In the straight, "Swift Swamp" was inconvenienced
when tightened for room by "Teddy's Luck" who shifted in slightly.
RACE 3 - TRARALGON BOWLS CLUB MAIDEN PLATE.
1900 Metres.
When the gates opened, "St. Padraig" jumped away
awkwardly and was then hampered when tightened for room between "Master Showboy"
and "Moderator" which shifted out away from "Brydan" which was taken
out by "Flying Arch" which also shifted out.
Also on jumping away, "Arch Rose" was slow to
begin.
After passing the winning post, "Sir Roley"
which, when over-racing, shifted in slightly and then had to be checked off the heels of
"Blue Prominence" which shifted out.
Rounding the home turn "Dynamic Cruise", when
weakening, had to be checked to avoid the heels of "Arch Rose" which, after
initially being taken in slightly by "White Oak" (S. Noll) then shifted in away
from that gelding. As no one rider was fully responsible, Stewards took no action other
than to notify S. Noll that he must ensure he is clear of all runners when shifting ground
in future.
RACE 4 - DEX STAR BAR FILLIES AND MARES CLASS
1 HANDICAP. 1100 Metres.
After being placed in its barrier stall,
"Break The Mould" broke through the front and cantered for a short distance.
'Break The Mould" then returned to the barrier, was examined by the Club's Veterinary
Surgeon and passed fit to run. As a result of this, the start of the race was delayed.
RACE 5 - MONSIGNOR O'MARA HANDICAP. 1900
Metres.
Near the 1300 metres, M. Pay, rider of "Veejay
(NZ)" eased the gelding out of the race as, in his opinion, "Veejay (NZ)"
had gone amiss. Subsequent to the event, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported
"Veejay (NZ)" had broken down in the off hind cannon.
L. Milham, rider of "Augusta", which performed
poorly, explained to the Stewards that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle
stages of the race and that after passing the 500 metres, failed to respond to his riding.
L. Milham further explained that throughout the race, "Augusta" hung in.
Subsequent to the event, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormalities
with Augusta.
RACE 6 - MEMBERS AUSTRALIA CLASS 3 HANDICAP. 1200
Metres.
No report.
RACE 7 - H J (DICK) WHELAN CLASS 1 HANDICAP.
1430 Metres
On jumping away, "Ski Warrior" and
"Espada" were slow to begin.
RACE 8 - LIFETIME HEALTH PHARMACY CLASS 3
HANDICAP. 1430 Metres.
No report.
SWAB SAMPLES -
Routine swab samples were taken from the following winners:
RACE 1 - "Tarcoola Mist"
RACE 4 - "Crystalize"
RACE 6 - "All Play"
RACE 7 - "Freestone"
FINES AND EXPLANATIONS:
RACE 2 - Stewards severely reprimanded
J. Benbow, rider of "Ton Of Sand" for his unnecessary use of the whip on the
mare.
RACE 8 - Mr. D Cave, trainer of
"Pure Irony" was fined the sum of $50.00 for the late notification of T. Carson
as the rider of the gelding.
Stewards adjourned an enquiry into the reason why M.Goring
failed to fulfil an engagement to ride Jessaar to a date to be fixed. |
