Race 1 - SUPER VOBIS THREE-YEARS-OLD
MAIDEN PLATE (1) (1000 METRES)
As PANAQUA had sustained a serious wound to its brisket en
route to the course and was unfit to start on Veterinary advice Stewards withdrew the
filly from the event at 11.20 a.m.
Stewards delayed correct weight to ascertain whether WORLD
OF DREAMS' starting gate had opened correctly. As Michelle Payne rider of WORLD OF DREAMS
was unavailable due to being examined by medical staff the Stewards interviewed L. Sheedy
(Starter), P. Doherty (Assistant Starter) and Mr. Pat Cannon foreman for Russell Cameron
Trainer of WORLD OF DREAMS. After viewing the Stewards' patrol film of the start, it was
established the starting stall attendant had hold of WORLD OF DREAMS when the start was
effected and the near side starting gate swung back considerably and severely hampered
that filly on jumping away resulting in Michelle Payne WORLD OF DREAMS' rider becoming
unbalanced and being dislodged. As the Stewards were satisfied that WORLD OF DREAMS had
been denied a fair start Stewards withdrew the filly from the event at starting time
12.30pm..
Subsequently all monies bet for a win and/or place and
concession betting on WORLD OF DREAMS withdrawn by Stipendiary Stewards at 12.30 p.m. to
be refunded.
All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal
of WORLD OF DREAMS are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face
value of the ticket:

running rail and became unbalanced.
SAGACIOUS MOVER again became unbalanced approaching the

Mr.G. Baker Trainer of BABY BLUES (fourth place getter) was

to Ben Smith weighing in one kilogram over his declared weight.

concession betting on HEROIC FRAAR withdrawn by Stipendiary Stewards at 1.03 p.m. to be
refunded.

of HEROIC FRAAR are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value

Acting on a report from the Starter that MARTELLA proved
difficult to load into the starting stalls, and as a result contributed to the start of
the race being delayed, Stewards notified Kerry Denney Trainer of the filly that a warning
was being placed on MARTELLA for her behaviour today, and should she perform in a similar
manner in future. She may be suspended from racing for a period. Ms. Denney was further
notified that she must produce a barrier certificate for the filly prior to her starting
again.
In the straight MARTELLA raced greenly.

Stewards delayed correct weight to ascertain whether GOLDEN
ARCHES' starting stall had opened correctly. It was established that GOLDEN ARCHES
starting stall had opened correctly and the mare stood flat-footed when the gates opened
and lost considerable ground. Mr. R. Wilson Trainer of GOLDEN ARCHES was notified an
official warning was being placed on the mare for her behaviour today and should she
behave in a similar manner in future she may be suspended for a period.
Race 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT COBDEN CUP
(1400 METRES)
On jumping away TEEKAYO knuckled.
G.Murphy rider of MR. LANCELOT was found guilty of a charge
of careless riding. The careless riding being that near the 1000 metres he permitted his
mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of DANCE WIDDIS resulting in that gelding
being tightened onto REGROUP resulting in REGROUP being hampered and DANCE WIDDIS having
to be checked severely. G. Murphy was suspended from riding in races for a period to
commence at midnight 7th February, 2002 and to expire at midnight on 22nd
February, 2002. As a result of this interference OUR SLICK PRINCE, GENERAL FEELGOOD and

when the start was effected and he believed his mount was denied a fair start. After
taking evidence from all parties concerned and viewing the Stewards' patrol video the
Stewards were of the opinion that the barrier blanket had come off correctly and that
BEAUQUEST was a runner in the event.
