Race 1 - Super Vobis 3YO Maiden Plate - 1200 Metres:

On jumping away Worthy Response was hampered when tightened for room between Rule Supreme and Out Looking which shifted out.

Approaching the 900 metres Rule Supreme, which was over racing, had to be checked off the heels of Secrets of Calm.

Near the 600 metres Katie Lou shifted out across the heels of Baby Blues and as a result inconvenienced Out Looking, Secrets of Calm and Harbarty.

M. Pumpa, rider of Out Looking, was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.

Race 2 -Ian Ray Electrics/Retravision Maiden - 1600 Metres:

Elegant Stroke (NZ) was slow to begin.

Near the 300 metres Mitch's Magic was eased when racing tight between Capitulation and Bicentennial.

Throughout the race Henrietta Bluedaw hung in resulting in D. Yendall, rider of the mare, being unable to ride his mount out in his normal manner.

M. Pumpa, rider of Zero Control which performed below expectations, stated to the Stewards that after travelling well in the early and middle stages of the race, the mare failed to respond to his riding in the straight. A veterinary examination of Zero Control subsequent to the race failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 3 -Swan Hill RSL Club Class 2 - 2100 Metres:

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr D. Boal, trainer of Kenburn, who stated that the car towing the float with the gelding had broken down on route to the course and was unable to arrive on time, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Kenburn at 12.23 pm.

Young Beauty jumped away awkwardly and on jumping away Mingoue knuckled.

Race 4 - Wolf Blass Class 3 Handicap - 1200 Metres:

After passing the 400 metres Merry Tsar had to be eased when tightened for room between Unquote and Scoop The Gold (T. Barry) which shifted out when not sufficiently clear. T. Barry was severely reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Race 5 - JV "Curly" Burns Cup - 1300 Metres:

Mamoloni was slow to begin.

Approaching the 300 metres Idle Bruce was tightened for room between Super Lad (NZ), which had a tendency to lay in, and Mamoloni (D. Yates) which initially shifted out to obtain a run on the outside of General Feelgood where there was insufficient room. Idle Bruce then raced tight between Super Lad (NZ) and Mamoloni for some distance before then having to be checked due to both Super Lad (NZ) and Mamoloni shifting ground. D. Yates was severely reprimanded for initially shifting ground when not sufficiently clear.

Near the 200 metres Mamoloni had to be eased to avoid the heels of General Feelgood which shifted out slightly under pressure.

Race 6 - Topaz Bonus F & M Class 2 - 1300 Metres:

Rounding the home turn and into the straight Bowled Addiction had a tendency to lay out.

Race 7 - Carlton Draught Class 4 Handicap - 1600 Metres:

Miss B. Payne, rider of Byping, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that passing the 1400 metres she permitted her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Casino Evil, thereby taking that gelding in on to Gothic Knight, Rift and Yuvaraj resulting in Yuvaraj and Rift having to be checked severely and Gothic Knight being hampered. Miss B. Payne, was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Thursday April 11th. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Miss Payne's good race riding record.

Gothic Knight wa slow to begin.

Near the 1300 metres Makaru had to be checked off the heels of Byping (Miss B. Payne) which shifted in to avoid the heels of Tantalus. Miss B. Payne was reprimanded and notified to exercise far more care when in similar circumstances in future.

A veterinary examination subsequent to the race of Londoner, which performed below expectations, failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 8 -June Racing Carnival Maiden - 1300 Metres:

Acting on a report from the Club's Veterinary Surgeon that Aggravate had a wound to its near foreleg and was unfit to run, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the colt at 2.12 pm.

Shortly after the start Phizam's Hope had to be checked when tightened for room between Retaliation, which when laying in shifted in away from Nattrocrand, and Sarahbella which was taken out by At The Time (NZ) and when being checked, Phizam's Hope clipped the heels of Sarahbella and almost fell.

Near the 300 metres At The Time (NZ) which had been held up for a run was then disappointed for a run between Killatilla, which shifted out slightly, and Retaliation which continued to lay in. At The Time (NZ) then was held up for a clear run until near the 100 metres.

FINES

Race 2 - Mr D. Dodson, trainer of El Fox, and Mr D. Weir, trainer of Zero Control, were both fined the sum of $30 for using wrong colours on their respective horses.
