Race 2 - FISHER & PAYKEL 3YO SUPER
VOBIS MAIDEN PLATE 1600 metres:
Due to a misunderstanding L. Robertson was notified as the
rider of "OUR TARGET (NZ)" when in fact L. Milham had been engaged to ride the
gelding.
Shortly after the start "DAGGER BOY" had to be
checked when tightened for room between "TIO BELLE (NZ)" which shifted out and
"LYNCHES" which shifted in. Shortly after this "LYNCHES" and "TIO
BELLE (NZ)" came together resulting in M. Allen, rider of "TIO BELLE (NZ)"
becoming unbalanced and "LYNCHES" almost falling.
Race 3 -SHARP MAIDEN PLATE 2100 metres:
Whilst parading behind the barriers "CORUNDUM"
reared over dislodging its rider G. Mathrick. "CORUNDUM" was inspected by the
Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.
Race 4 - KELVINATOR CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100
metres:

Race 5 - BILL FULLER MEMORIAL GIPPSLAND
SPRINT 1100 metres:
When the gates opened "BOORTKOI MUSTANG" and
"GAIDEL'S BID" came together.
Prior to correct weight Mr J. Formosa, trainer of
"YALLAH KING" second placegetter, wished to view the photo finish print. After
viewing the print Mr Formosa was satisfied with the Judge's numbers and correct weight was
declared.
Race 6 - WHIRLPOOL CLASS 3 HANDICAP 2100
metres:

Race 7 - KELVIN JOHNS RETRAVISION -
PANASONIC SOUTH GIPPSLAND CUP 2100 metres:
As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted
apprentice C. Symons to ride "ALROY".
Near the 1000 metres "BOORTKOI LUCKY" faltered,
became unbalanced and then fell. "PAST MASTER" which was following was brought
down in consequence. "COPPER WILDWOOD", "SWIFT KNIGHT" and
"ZATOPEK (NZ)" which were following, were hampered in consequence.
Race 8 - NEC CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1600 metres:
After being placed in their stalls "DIVINE
RHYTHM" and "ZINGE" broke through the front and cantered for a short
distance before being returned to the barrier. "DIVINE RHYTHM" and
"ZINGE" were inspected by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.

Race 3 - Apprentice Ms A. Beveridge was fined the
sum of $100 for being unable to fulfil her engagement on "CORUNDUM" due to being
over weight.
Race 5 - R. Cartwright, rider of "KELRIZE"
was fined the sum of $200 for using his whip unnecessarily on a beaten horse. |
