Race 1 - BISCADALE SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1200
metres:
"Well Versed" was slow to begin.
When being eased off the heels of "Tequila
Knowledge" near the 900 metres "River Woman" got its head up and crossed
over the heels of that filly.
At the entrance to the straight "Entango (NZ)"
had to be eased, and changed course to avoid the heels of "Ruby Draw", which
shifted out slightly.
Race 2 - JUST TOPIC HANDICAP - 1500 metres:
"Navarac" jumped away awkwardly, and lost ground.
Naomi Parker, rider of "Atomic Lady", was fined
$200 for unnecessary use of the whip on the mare.
Race 3 - BARFLEUR SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
Near the 800 metres "Lewinsky" was inconvenienced
when tightened for room between "Blue Wina" and "Ski Rhythm", which
shifted out slightly.
Near the 200 metres "Intermagic" shifted out away
from "Lewinsky", and had to be steadied off the heels of "Magnus Bay",
which had improved on its outside.
Race 4 - ORIENT SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1000
metres:
"Stefani" jumped away awkwardly, and lost ground.
Race 5 - SAN DOMENICO HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
After passing the 200 metres "Vincent" had to be
checked off the heels of "Mr. Printz" which, when giving ground, shifted in
slightly away from "Foreign Affair", which also shifted in.
Approaching the winning post "Gypsy Lad (NZ)",
which was laying out, shifted out and brushed "Foreign Affair" on the
hindquarters.
Race 6 - SKY HIGH HANDICAP - 1600 metres:
Acting on veterinary advice that "Pyramid Park"
was suffering from enteritis, was scouring and had an elevated temperature, the Stewards
ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 1.38 p.m.
"Hirule" jumped away awkwardly, shifted in, and
hampered "Tooborack" and "Our Poetic Star".
Race 7 - ZAMBARI HANDICAP - 1400 metres:
Prior to correct weight N. Rawiller, rider of
"Paestum", second placegetter, viewed the Stewards' patrol video and decided not
to lodge an objection.
"Count Down" jumped away awkwardly and lost
ground.
After jumping away "Specular" and
"Paestum" came together when tightened slightly between "As you Would
(NZ)" and "Flying Ed".
Near the 200 metres "Paestum" shifted in under
pressure and brushed "As you Would (NZ)".
Race 8 - PAISLEY HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
On jumping away "Style Buster" was hampered when
tightened for room between "Contrary Ldy" and "Stradie", which shifted
in.
