Race 1 - PRINCESS PUSHY HANDICAP - 2175 metres:

No report.

Race 2 - SHOOBRA SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

J. Winks was dislodged from "Hairy McLairy" en route to the barrier.

"Lady Sophia" was re-saddled at the barrier, which caused some delay in starting the race.

"Lady Sophia" began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered "Snap to It".

Shortly after jumping away "Kenelle" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Taa Paa (NZ)", which shifted out slightly, and "Romantic Lass", which was bumped by "Hairy McLairy" which, in turn, was taken in by "King Wells", which shifted in when hanging in.

Shortly after this incident "Romantic Lass" was again bumped by "Hairy McLairy", which continued to be taken in by "King Wells".

Approaching the 800 metres "Da Capo" had to be checked when tightened for room by "Arana Point", which had a tendency to lay in, and then had to shift to avoid the heels of "Hairy McLairy", which was taken in slightly by "Snap to It", which was shifting in.

Shortly after this incident "Hairy McLairy" shifted out towards the heels of "Snap to It", and had to be eased.

Race 3 - OUR FAITH HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

No report.

Race 4 - KATANDRA SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

"Call me Syd" jumped away awkwardly, and inconvenienced "Green Bottle".

On return to scale it was noted that "Tan Tat" had lost its off fore plate.

Race 5 - GRANGE HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

"Tingling" jumped away awkwardly, and lost some ground.

In the straight "Star Doc" hung in under pressure.

Race 6 - SIR DANE HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

"Seattle Power" reared when being placed in the starting stall, resulting in L. Milham being dislodged, and "Seattle Power" cantering for a short distance before being returned to the start. "Seattle Power" sustained a injury during the incident in the stalls, and was withdrawn by the Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 3.18 p.m.

"Fraar's Turn" broke through the front of the stalls after this incident, and galloped riderless for some distance before being caught and returned to the mounting yard. Acting on veterinary advice "Fraar's Turn" was withdrawn from the event at 3.21 p.m.

As a result of these incidents the start of the race was considerably delayed.

Subsequently the Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on "Seattle Power", withdrawn by Stewards at 3.18 p.m. be refunded.

The Stewards further ordered that all monies wagered on "Fraar's Turn", be refunded, and that all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of "Fraar's Turn" at 3.21 p.m. be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets: 20 cents; Place Bets: 16 cents; Winning Concession Bets: 20 cents, and Doubles Bets: 20 cents. All monies wagered after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal were ordered to be paid at face value of the ticket.

"Zazzman" jumped away awkwardly, and inconvenienced "Freegold".

A veterinary examination of "Pleasant Mick", which had performed below expectations, revealed that the gelding was sore in the back. Mr. G. Hanlon, trainer of "Pleasant Mick", was notified that prior to the gelding racing again he must produce a veterinary clearance for "Pleasant Mick".

Race 7 - AZZURRO SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

As B. Rawiller was to be overweight, and as no suitable rider was available at the weight, the Stewards permitted L. Milham to be substituted as the rider of "Champagne Miss". B Rawiller was fined $300 for accepting a ride which he was unable to fulfil due to being overweight.

"Deep Sea Diva" began awkwardly, and lost ground.

"Taffeta Princess" knuckled on jumping away.

Near the 1200 metres "Barmaid Rules" got its head up when being eased off the heels of "Argegno".

Approaching the 200 metres "Princess Dehere" had to be checked when tightened for room between 'Barmaid Rules", which shifted out, and "Karamal" which shifted in to obtain a run on the inside of "Argegno". As no one rider was fully responsible, the Stewards took no action. However, they reprimanded W. Davis, rider of "Barmaid Rules", and A. Findlay, rider of "Karamal", and notified them that they must ensure that they are clear of other runners when shifting ground in future.

Near the 100 metres "Taffeta Princess" (D. Gauci) endeavoured to obtain a run on the inside of "Princess Dehere", and bumped "Deep Sea Diva", which shifted out slightly at that stage. D. Gauci was notified to ensure that he is clear of other runners when shifting ground in future.

Approaching the winning post "Cappucine", which had a tendency to lay out, had to be checked due to "Barmaid Rules" shifting in when not sufficiently clear. W. Davis, rider of "Barmaid Rules", was severely reprimanded and notified that he must exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
