        Track: GoodSupplementary Report:
Rosehill Gardens Saturday 9 March 2002:
        Race 6: Coolmore Classic 1500m:
Mr A. Bailey, trainer of Suzy Grey, was fined $100 for
failing to withdraw that mare by the prescribed time.
Race 7 Australian Tie Company Stakes 1100m:
Trainer Mr R. Cameron was fined $100 for failing to declare
        P. Gatt as the rider of Aragonce by the required time (LR35).
Canterbury Park Thursday 14 March 2002: Race 2 Triple M
        Slipper Saloon Superfecta 1250m:
Mr R. Thompson, trainer of Wandane, which raced
disappointingly, reported that the filly was very stirred up prior to the start and then
raced wide throughout. He added nevertheless that he was disappointed with the performance
of Wandane, but the filly had pulled up well and taken no harm from the run.
RACE 1: Rosemount Estate Magic Night Stakes 1200m:
Whiskey On Ice was a late withdrawal at 12.37pm on
veterinary advice that the filly was lame in the off-fore leg. The Stewards ordered no
deductions to betting. Trainer Ms P. Wheatley was advised that a veterinary certificate
would be required before Whiskey On Ice is permitted to race again. Later in the day Ms
Wheatley approached the Stewards and expressed the view that a further veterinary
examination had shown there was no abnormality with respect to Whiskey On Ice. The
Stewards questioned club veterinarian Dr Nash, who indicated that he had recommended a
        further veterinary examination on Monday.
Saddler's Silk reared as the gates were released and lost
        considerable ground.
Dawn Of Dawns and Majestic Thrill were slow to begin.
        Stratica knuckled over on jumping.
At the 1000m Calaway Gal, which was inclined to overrace,
had to be steadied off the heels of Fairy Brightia (L. Beasley), which shifted in. L.
Beasley was advised to ensure he is two lengths clear when shifting ground.
Approaching the first turn Fawayez hung in away from Cirque
Du Soleil resulting in Saddler's Silk having to be checked.
At the 600m as Cirque Du Soleil and Fawayez endeavoured to
improve between Dawn Of Dawns and De Lollies, which was commencing to give ground, Fawayez
was hampered when Cirque Du Soleil shifted in slightly to avoid the heels of De Lollies.
On the home turn Saddler's Silk, which was racing greenly,
ran out across the heels of De Lollies.
A post-race veterinary examination of De Lollies revealed
no obvious abnormality apart from a small laceration to below the near-hind fetlock.
When questioned concerning the tactics adopted on Calaway
Gal, S. Seamer stated that at its most recent start at Canterbury Park on 2 March the
filly had overraced after being ridden for speed and although connections had given him
the option to lead today, he elected to allow Fairy Brightia to cross him early with a
view to taking a sit. He added that Calaway Gal commenced to overrace and was reluctant to
come back and take a sit behind the eventual winner, Victory Vein, until near the 600m.
RACE 2: TJF Group Pago Pago Stakes 1200m:
The left side barrier gate of the stall occupied by Nothin'
Less was fractionally slow to open resulting in Nothin' Less being slow to begin.
At the 700m Emerging Star had to be checked off the heels
        of El Capitan.
A subsequent veterinary examination revealed El Capitan had
sustained minor abrasions to the inside of both hind legs.
Choisir shifted out under pressure in the straight.
When questioned, L. Beasley stated that Choisir was very
stirred up in its preliminary and after jumping well he was unable to restrain the colt
early, which resulted in Choisir pulling itself to the lead.
RACE 3: Hyland Sportswear Stakes 1300m:
The start was delayed when Dolce Veloce proved difficult to
load. Stewards ruled that Dolce Veloce must trial to their satisfaction prior to its next
        race start.
The Big Chill and Magic Hatter missed the start and Magic
Hatter was hampered shortly afterwards when Dolce Veloce shifted out.
At the start Treasure Time shifted in resulting in Apo
        Quality and Bosworth being hampered.
Shortly after the start Into The Night ducked in towards
        the running rail.
Approaching the first turn as Bosworth and Academe
commenced to work across close to the rail Bosworth made contact with Red Hannigan
resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced and in turn causing Bosworth and Academe to be
        steadied.
Rounding the first turn On A High was awkwardly placed on
the inside of the heels of Magic Hatter, which was inclined to lay in.
At the entrance to the straight Bosworth was disappointed
for a run between Jai's Jump and Academe and then had to be steadied for some distance off
        the heels of Jai's Jump.
At the 200m Academe, which raced greenly throughout, ran
out badly severely hampering The Big Chill.
Apo Quality and On A High were unable to obtain clear
        running over the final 200m.
Close to the finish line Academe had to steady off the
heels of The Big Chill (L. Cassidy), which shifted in. L. Cassidy was advised to make more
effort to keep his mounts straight.
Magic Hatter had blood present in its mouth following the
        race.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed Bosworth
sustained an abrasion to the near-fore tendon area.
        RACE 4: Cabra-Vale Diggers Club N. E. Manion Cup 2400m:
When questioned, D. Beadman (Gillespie) stated that his
mount was slow to begin and reluctant to race early. He stated that Gillespie travelled
only fairly in a slowly run race but was unable to shift out due to Kalalycia racing to
his outside and in advance of him. He added that after entering the straight he shifted
out and obtained clear running, but Gillespie ran on only fairly. D. Beadman stated that
the only excuse he could offer was that Gillespie had not appreciated the quick sequence
of runs and the step up in distance. Mr A. Denham, representing trainer Mr J. Denham,
stated that Gillespie was at a disadvantage when held up in a slowly run race that
        developed into a sprint home.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of the
winner, Manner Hill as compared to its 10 of 14 placing when beaten 5.1 lengths in the
Canterbury Cup on 2 March, C. Munce stated that on that occasion the race was run at a
solid pace as compared to today when he was allowed to dictate terms and let the race
        develop into a sprint home.
When questioned as to why he did not press forward and
endeavour to take up a position close to the rail when trapped three wide in a slowly run
event, B. York (Royal Treen) stated that his mount was not travelling sufficiently well to
have done so. He stated that he endeavoured to hold the horse together, but it raced most
disappointingly and compounded badly in the straight.
Trainer Mr P. Wolsley confirmed to the Stewards that Royal
Treen pulled up sore in the off-fore leg and he was asked to produce a veterinary
certificate of fitness prior to its next race start.
Subsequent to the running of this race a fire in a
substation outside the track resulted in loss of power to most club facilities. The
starting times of the remaining races were put back one race and race 8 was rescheduled to
        start at 6pm.
RACE 5: Sky High Stakes 1900m:
        Borelli knuckled over on jumping.
Near the 400m Able Way was placed awkwardly on the heels of
        Halls Of Assembly.
Cheverny had some difficulty obtaining a clear run until
        passing the 200m.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of
Swiss Echo, D. Beasley stated that his mount took up a prominent position, but had felt
flat and did not respond to his riding in the straight A post-race veterinary examination
revealed Swiss Echo had been galloped on the off hock. Ms E. Candy, representing trainer
Mrs G. Waterhouse, advised that the gelding had become stirred up due to the delay, but
could offer no other explanation for the performance and undertook to report on the
        gelding in the days subsequent.
        RACE 6: Darley Stakes 1500m:
No Mean City was slow to begin and then raced fiercely
throughout the early and middle stages.
Shogun Lodge was inclined to lay in under pressure over the
        concluding stages.
Nanny Maroon was held up for a run in the early part of the
        straight.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed Lord Essex was
lame in the near-fore leg. Mr P Snowden, representing trainer J Hawkes, was advised that a
veterinary certificate would be required before Lord Essex is permitted to race again.
When questioned regarding Emission racing more forward
today, B. Prebble stated that he was under instructions from trainer Mr C. Brown that as
the pace was anticipated to be moderate to have his mount close to the lead. Mr Brown will
be interviewed relative to the change of tactics.
RACE 7: Dubai Rosehill Guineas 2000m:
Don Eduardo was slow to begin.
        D. Oliver (Don Eduardo) reported that on jumping he struck
his right knee  on the gate.
On the home turn Don Eduardo had to be checked off the
        heels of Pentastic.
A short distance later Carnegie Express and Harp Of Tara
came together as Carnegie Express endeavoured to shift to the outside of the heels of
        Athens.
A post-race veterinary examination of Leica Guv, which
weakened badly in the straight, revealed no abnormality. A swab sample was taken.
RACE 8: William Inglis Stakes 1400m:
        Velsontas was slow to begin.
Darahim pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
Approaching the 600m Salgado and Fouardee came together as
Salgado endeavoured to come out from behind Darahim, which was overracing badly.
Defier was held up for a run in the early part of the
        straight.
        B. Stanley (Banker Under Fire) was reprimanded for
permitting his mount to shift out passing the 300m resulting in Crop being crowded out
        onto The Man.
Salgado ran out over the concluding stages tightening the
        ground of Velsontas.
App. R. Brewer (Xantra) was fined $100 for returning to
        scale 1kg overweight (AR145).
A post-race veterinary examination revealed Crop was
        galloped on the near-hind hock.
