RACE 1 – EYRE AUTO GROUP MAIDEN PLATE

LADY SPICE (B. Grimston) was slow to jump.

In the vicinity of the 700 metres GLENDI BELLE (J. Marks), which was inclined to race greenly, shifted out and checked itself off the heels of OXFORD BELLA (B. Claridge) and lost its position. As a result FEAR REIGN (B. Vale) was forced to check off the heels of GLENDI BELLE. Over the concluding stages COZARVY (L. Smith) was inclined to lay in under pressure and approaching the finish, L. Smith was obliged to stop riding and correct his mount.

RACE 2 – MAGIC MILLIONS / SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD CLASS 2 HANDICAP

LAPDOG (C. Lindop) and DOMESTIX (M. Hoppo) were slow to jump.

KINCHEGA (J. Marks) hung in throughout the event.

Near the 600 metres MR MONTINO (W. Kerford) shifted in whilst under pressure resulting in MISS ZUTPHEN (B. Grimston) being tightened onto SPECIAL LOVE (J. Burgess). MISS ZUTPHEN was obliged to steady and SPECIAL LOVE was inconvenienced in this incident.

Making the turn at the entrance to the straight LAPDOG (C. Lindop) hung out severely.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres KINCHEGA (J. Marks) shifted in abruptly and as a result J. Marks was obliged to stop riding in an effort to keep that gelding straight.

Subsequent to the race a veterinary inspection of KINCHEGA revealed that gelding to have a severe cut to the off side of its mouth. Mr. R.J. King, the Trainer of KINCHEGA, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for a future event.

RACE 3 – WEST COAST SECURITY COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 3 HANDICAP

J. Potter, the rider of AROUND THE RING, was questioned regarding his riding of that gelding between the 700 metres and the entrance to the straight. J. Potter advised that he had been instructed to ride AROUND THE RING back in the field in an endeavour to offset its wide barrier gate, to work down the dip in the vicinity of the 600 metres and to be aware that the gelding had only a 200 metre sprint. He stated that in the vicinity of the 1000 metres he had restrained his mount to obtain a position closer to the fence and succeeded in doing so but racing to the 700 metres he had been unable to improve owing to his position in the field and had placed his mount under pressure just prior to the entrance to the straight when he shifted to the outside of KAILEY FALCON (C. Buchiw). Mr. R. Angelo, the Trainer of AROUND THE RING, confirmed his instruction. J. Potter was reprimanded and advised that in the Stewards’ opinion, his ride lacked initiative in the vicinity of the 600 metres at which point they believe he had an opportunity to improve his position. He was advised, in future, he would be expected to display more initiative.

Cozamanis, the Trainer of SIMMS COVE, was advised that a repetition of the gelding’s behaviour would lead to action being taken against it.

K. Louca, the rider of PEARL’S IMAGE, was reprimanded over his use of the whip prior to the start.

On jumping away PEARL’S IMAGE (K. Louca) jumped in onto RODREGUEZ (S. Lovegrove) at the same time as SIMMS COVE (B. Grimston) jumped out onto SUNESSE (B. Vale) resulting in SUNESSE and RODREGUEZ being tightened and hampered.

During the middle stages of this event DIGBURY (C. Lever) got its head up and was inclined to race ungenerously.

Near the 200 metres SIMMS COVE (B. Grimston) shifted in taking PEARL’S IMAGE (K. Louca) in onto SALTARA (C. Buchiw) resulting in PEARL’S IMAGE being obliged to check off the heels of SIMMS COVE. B. KOORAN KID (W. Kerford) was slow to jump.

Passing the 100 metres on the first occasion the saddle of KITSCAY slipped forward and continued to disadvantage its rider, K. Louca, until in the vicinity of the 1000 metres where he was able to ease it out of the event.

Near the 200 metres JUST A FIRE (C. Lever) was obliged to steady off the heels of ZOOMERATOR (B. Vale), which shifted in. B. Vale was reminded of his obligations.
