Rail: Out 1.5 metres from the 1000 – 700 metres, and 2 metres from the 700 – 270 metres

RACE 1 – ELDERS REAL ESTATE DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE

J. Marks replaced D. Wilson as the rider of ZETAS.

D. Wilson was fined $100 under LR 95 for doubly engaging himself on SYNCHRONICITY and ZETAS in this event.

ARMAGH PRINCE (B. Claridge) jumped away awkwardly.

Over the concluding stages GREY NURSE (C. Lindop) showed a tendency to lay in, placing that rider at a disadvantage when riding her mount out to the line.

RACE 2 – ELDERS RURAL BANK DISTANCE CLASS 5 HANDICAP

BILLYLITE (L. Smith) was slow to begin.

STAR OF RUBITON (B. Vale) jumped out at the start.

PURAVALOUR (J. Marks) jumped in at the start and bumped UNSUB (S. Grivell).

In the vicinity of the 1300 metres UNSUB (S. Grivell) commenced to race fiercely, as the pace of the race slowed considerably, and as a result shifted out sharply for a short distance.

RACE 3 – CAPITAL CORP SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD CLASS 2 HANDICAP

DIGBURY (H. McKechnie) showed a tendency to race ungenerously in the early stages.

Inside the 200 metres DIGBURY (H. McKechnie) showed a tendency to lay out and as a result COZARVY (J. Lorensini) had to be checked and was taken inwards to avoid the heels of DIGBURY.

B. Claridge, (ABSCENE), who accidentally dropped his whip in the vicinity of the 100 metres, was fined $100 under ARR 137(a) for Carelessness.

Subsequent to the race the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that BEAU INCA (B. Vale) had returned sore in the off fore leg. Mr. M. Dunn, Trainer of BEAU INCA, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for a future event.

RACE 4 – ELDERS WOOL HANDICAP

B. Claridge, (CURIUM), who accidentally dropped his whip in the vicinity of the 200 metres, was fined $100 under ARR 137(a) for Carelessness. B. Claridge was further advised that a repetition of dropping his whip, in the near future, could result in a heavier penalty being imposed.

RACE 5 – ELDERS MERCHANDISE CLASS 2 HANDICAP

WALK TALL (C. Tyler) was slow to begin.

WALK TALL (C. Tyler) showed a tendency to over-race in the early stages.

In the vicinity of the 1000 metres LUCKY RIPPER (B. Grimston) shifted in and as a result WALK TALL (C. Tyler) had to be checked.

B. Grimston was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

SWAMP RAT (H. McKechnie) showed a tendency to over-race in the middle stages.

In the vicinity of the 400 metres EMMATINE (M. Hoppo) shifted out and as a result SILVER MOLLY (S. Lovegrove) was hampered for a few strides.

RACE 6 – ELDERS INSURANCE CLASS 4 HANDICAP

Correct Weight was delayed to allow D. Wilson, rider of the 2nd Placegetter SPRING DANCE, to view the Stewards patrol film between the 1100 and 900 metres. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

DONOOKTA (Darren Holland) was slow to begin.

KING AND COUNTRY (NZ) (L. Smith) threw its head in the air at the start and as a result lost some ground.

In the vicinity of the 1000 metres DELLA SALUTE (B. Vale) shifted in and as a result SPRING DANCE (D. Wilson) had to be steadied.

B. Vale was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

In the vicinity of the 600 metres SPRING DANCE (D. Wilson) shifted out and as a result MISS COALPEPPER (C. Lindop) was hampered for a few strides.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres B. Vale (DELLA SALUTE) accidentally dropped his reins and was unable to gather them in for the remainder of the race.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres ALARM BELLE (W. Kerford) shifted in sharply and as a result became unbalanced for a few strides.

RACE 7 – ELDERS LIVESTOCK HANDICAP

No report.

RACE 8 – ELDERS LIMITED SABIS MAIDEN PLATE

SAMARRA LADY (B. Grimston) reared as the gates were released and as a result lost considerable ground. Trainer Mr. K. Drewitt was advised that SAMARRA LADY must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an Official Barrier Trial before accepting for any future races.

A Veterinary examination of RUBY SAL subsequent to the race revealed no visible abnormalities.

A Veterinary examination of NEAT CHANGE subsequent to the race revealed the filly had shown symptoms tying-up during the running of the race.
