SHACK WINDOW (C. Tyler) shifted in
at the start bumping GRAND TOURER (S. Lovegrove).
Racing to the 1000 metres STAAR TOFF
(Darren Holland) shifted in when insufficiently clear of DEMOLITION DAME (C. Lindop)
resulting in that filly being taken in and making contact with COZARVY (J. Lorensini)
which resulted in the hindquarters of DEMOLITION DAME being turned outwards. In
consequence COZARVY was taken in onto WILDS OF VIRGINIA (J. Maund) making heavy contact
and resulting in those fillies becoming extremely unbalanced for a short distance. As a
result WILDS OF VIRGINIA eventually lost its position. MILITARY EDITION (D. Wilson), which
was trailing WILDS OF VIRGINIA, was forced to shift outwards abruptly to avoid that
fillys heels.
Darren Holland was found guilty of a charge
of Careless Riding under ARR 137(a) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races
for a period to commence at midnight on 22nd December 2001 and to expire at
midnight on 1st January 2002; a period of three metropolitan meetings.
Racing inside the 100 metres BEAU INCA (B.
Vale), which was showing a tendency to lay in, was inconvenienced when STAAR TOFF (Darren
Holland) shifted out slightly.
RACE 2 MAGIC MILLIONS/SABIS
2YO CLASS D HANDICAP
The start of this race was delayed
approximately four minutes due to CLEAR ECHO having to be resaddled behind the barriers
and also DIAD having to be resaddled when a change of girth was required.
LUSTRE DAMOUR (S. Lovegrove) jumped
away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
Upon jumping away CLEAR ECHO (J. Burgess)
and DANCING WATERS (B. Vale) bumped together.
PARDOO (C. Tyler) showed a tendency to race
greenly and lay in over the concluding stages of the event.
RACE 3 NACOS CREDIT UNION
MAIDEN PLATE
SYNCHRONICITY was a late withdrawal
at 1.54 pm on Veterinary advice after that gelding took charge of its rider, J. Lorensini,
and galloped one circuit of the track. All bets on SYNCHRONICITY were declared OFF and to
be refunded. Bets on other runners made prior to the withdrawal were to be deducted two
cents in the dollar from the fact value of the ticket for the win and three cents in the
dollar for the place from the winnings only.
ARMAGH PRINCE (S. Grivell) raced
ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the event resulting in that gelding
throwing its head in the air on a number of occasions.
Approaching the turn near the 800 metres
WESTERN SMOKE (J. Potter) brushed the rail and shifted out slightly resulting in ARMAGH
PRINCE (S. Grivell) being taken out and accidentally clipping the heels of AMEN ROYALE (W.
Kerford), which resulted in ARMAGH PRINCE stumbling badly.
In the vicinity of the 500 metres EYES OF
AN ANGEL (P. Gatt) shifted in slightly resulting in NORTH TRICK (Darren Holland) having to
be steadied.
Rounding the home turn AFTER THE FIRE (B.
Vale) shifted out resulting in MONEY MAKES MONEY (H. McKechnie) being taken out and
brushing EYES OF AN ANGEL (P. Gatt).
H. McKechnie, rider of MONEY MAKES MONEY,
was fined the sum of $100 under ARR 144 when she failed to weigh in as required under the
Rules.
RACE 4 OFFICE NATIONAL
HANDICAP
A swab sample was taken from
CURIUM, winner of the race.
LOCANDO (Darren Holland) was slow to begin.
Shortly after jumping away DENHOLM (B.
Vale) shifted in onto MR. LOGICAL (J. Lorensini) resulting in that gelding being taken in
onto GRISWALD (H. McKechnie). As a result MR. LOGICAL became unbalanced between those two
horses for a short distance.
Racing to the 1300 metres PRINCE LLAROO (P.
Gatt) hung out severely.
Rounding the home turn PRINCE LLAROO (P.
Gatt) again showed a tendency to hang out.
Racing inside the 200 metres GRISWALD (H.
McKechnie) shifted in resulting in FRONT BEACH (J. Bowditch) having to be steadied and
shift outwards to avoid the heels of GRISWALD. H. McKechnie was advised of her obligations
when shifting ground.
DENHOLM (B. Vale) showed a tendency to lay
in, in the straight.
H. McKechnie, rider of GRISWALD, was fined
the sum of $100 under ARR 144 for failing to weigh in as required.
A Veterinary examination of PRINCE LLAROO
subsequent to the event revealed no visible abnormalities. Mr. D. Koch, trainer of PRINCE
LLAROO, was advised that the Stewards had placed a warning on that gelding in relation to
its racing tractability and a repeat could lead to action being taken against the gelding.
RACE 5 ORIGIN ENERGY CLASS 4
HANDICAP
In the vicinity of the 1000 metres
MADAM MERLOT (M. Hoppo) shifted in slightly onto THRU THE TRAFFIC (J. Lorensini) who in
turn shifted in slightly onto DONOOKTA (J. Maund). In consequence KAILEY FALCON (B. Vale),
which was racing on the inside of DONOOKTA, was tightened and forced to ease.
Racing to the 200 metres THRU THE TRAFFIC
(J. Lorensini) shifted out resulting in KOORAN KID (W. Kerford) having to check and shift
out to avoid the heels of THRU THE TRAFFIC. J. Lorensini was advised of his obligations
when shifting ground.
Mr. R. Angelo, trainer of TOVA, which
proved difficult to load, was advised that a warning had been placed on that gelding in
relation to its barrier manners and a repeat could result in action being taken against
the gelding.
RACE 6 PIER HOTEL FLYING
HANDICAP
S. Grivell replaced D. Wilson as
the rider of ANGEL DUST when D. Wilson was excessively overweight. As a result D. Wilson
was fined the sum of $100 under ARR 120(b).
CHELSEAS DREAM (S. Lovegrove) jumped
away awkwardly.
Racing inside the 400 metres and until
straightening up, CHELSEAS DREAM (S. Lovegrove) was held up for a clear run when
caught behind the tiring ANGEL DUST (S. Grivell).
ACE 7 HOME TIMBER &
HARDWARE CLASS 2 HANDICAP
Rounding the home turn B. Vale,
rider of STARBLAZER, accidentally dropped his whip. B. Vale was advised by Stewards that a
repetition of this occurrence would lead to a penalty in future.
RACE 8 JOHN MARMION MEMORIAL
DISTANCE CLASS 4 HANDICAP
W. Kerford replaced D. Wilson as
the rider of SILVER MOLLY.
BILLYLITE (H. McKechnie) was slow to begin.
Upon jumping away BILLYS CHOICE (J.
Maund) shifted out; at the same time ZOOMERATOR (B. Vale) shifted in, resulting in MINI
MILL (B. Claridge), which was racing between those two horses, being inconvenienced.
PURAVALOUR (J. OConnor) raced
fiercely in the early and middle stages of the event. |
