When questioned regarding the performance of DORFLI, Mr. T. Bailey, representing Mr. A. Bailey, trainer, advised that the gelding had pleased the stable in its work earlier in the week. He stated that DORFLI had failed at its last start in rain affected going at Flemington and the jockey had reported the gelding had not been confident in that going. Mr. Bailey added that he was concerned that DORFLI may have lost some confidence and it was his opinion that DORFLI may have also been feeling the effects of his campaign and it would be the stable’s intention to ease the gelding for a couple of weeks before resuming work. Mr. Bailey gave Stewards an undertaking to report any changes to the gelding’s condition in the nest seven days. Subsequent to the event a veterinary inspection of DORFLI revealed no visible abnormalities.

Stewards questioned Mr. S. Gower, the trainer of MARCIN ON, in relation to the riding tactics used today. He advised that he had instructed B. Claridge to lead on the gelding as he believed it lacked a turn of foot. Stewards noted this explanation. Due to B.
