SUPPLEMENTARY: CESSNOCK, THURSDAY, 14 MARCH 2002

RACE 4 - The Hunter Viking Volvo Maiden Handicap 1,550m - M Privato (Banner Edition) was severely reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to alleviate the pressure to Apple Pie and Mind Your Business when Banner Edition shifted in abruptly after striking the heels of Birubi's Magic near the 500M. As a result Mind Your Business and Apple Pie were severely checked.

SUPPLEMENTARY: WYONG, WEDNESDAY, 27 MARCH 2002

RACE 7 - J. Stockwell Pty Limited Handicap 1200m - trainer D P Smith advised that on return to the stable he had Oakfield Duchess fully vetted which revealed nothing amiss with the mare and advised that Oakfield Duchess would now be sent for a short let up.

RACE 1 - Terrace Tiles Maiden Plate 900m

Normandy Air was very slow to begin and in the straight laid in. Near the 600M O'Hagan's Gold was checked when crowded between Stylish Kingdom, which shifted out away from Lady Siesta, and Jilltrice (M Manktelow) which shifted in. M Manktelow was reprimanded. O'Hagan's Gold raced greenly in the straight and near the 200M was checked from the heels of Tears For Pearls.

RACE 2 - Jan Cooper Memorial Maiden Plate (Div 1) 1200m

Giselda was slow to begin. Near the 900M Kub became unbalanced and dipped. Clear Strategy was hampered in consequence. Commencing the first turn Son Of Legend was steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside and close to the heels of Monte Drift. On straightening Giselda was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of Arrow Bella when that horse commenced to shift ground. Close to the finish Giselda shifted in abruptly under pressure and caused some crowding to Clear Strategy and Kub. In the incident Clear Strategy was accidentally struck on the nose by the whip of A Gibbons (Giselda).

RACE 3 - Griffiths Computerised Engineering Maiden Plate (Div 2) 1200m

Acting on veterinary advice that Eli, which took charge of its rider and worked strongly, was unfit to start, stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1.26pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Eli be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: win and traditional each way, 21 cents win and 17 cents place. Bletchy, Get Serious, Dartbrook Beauty and Portland Star were slow to begin. Commencing the first turn Zenatius was steadied and lost its position when crowded by Get Serious which shifted in away from Fortunelle (R Whitworth) which had also shifted in slightly. R Whitworth was reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstance he is required to not only straighten his mounts but to shift them out to relieve all pressure. Near the 900M after initially being crowded by Fortunelle, La Minta a short distance later hung out across that filly's heels and had to be checked. At the same point Get Serious momentarily became unbalanced when steadied from the heels of Dartbrook Beauty.

RACE 4 - Huxley Hill & Associates 2yo Class D Handicap 1200m

Miss English Rose bucked and dislodged its rider en route to the barrier. Eagle Reign on arrival at the barrier shied and dislodged its rider. Both horses were withdrawn at 2.07pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Miss English Rose and Eagle Reign be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: win and traditional each way, 24 cents win and 22 cents place. Trainer M Eggleston was advised that Miss English Rose must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again. Timely Affair was slow to begin. On a few occasions in the middle stages Flidais became unbalanced and dipped. In the early part of the straight Flidais was held up for a run and then for some distance approaching and leaving the 200M raced tight on the inside of Sunbeam Alpine.

RACE 5 - John Church Advertising Maiden Plate 1500m

O'mars, Lunar Creek and Rizal were slow to begin. For some distance leaving the 600M Do The Twist, which was overracing, was steadied from the heels of Flying Lure. Hornry Miss, which was following, was hampered in consequence. For some distance approaching the 200M Zumdinger was held up for a run. In the early part of the straight Hornry Miss was unable to obtain clear running.

RACE 6 - J & S Clark Plumbing Services - Ella Rose Provincial Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1850m

That's Canny was a late withdrawal at 10.30am acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was unfit to start. In the straight when under pressure Rolling Thunder shifted out. After the running of this race the track rating was downgraded to Heavy at 3.46pm.

RACE 7 - NIB Advantage Cup Provincial Class 3 Plate 1400m

After being crossed by Archaea (M Privato) leaving the 600M, Whimsy was steadied from that horse's heels a short distance later. M Privato was reprimanded. St Chandon was held up for a run in the early part of the straight. Apprentice K Goodyear (Pinhook) explained that the horse failed to stretch out despite her riding in the early and middle stages and therefore she did not place the horse under any pressure after the 500M. A subsequent veterinary examination found Pinhook to be suffering from cardiac arrythmia. Trainer M Wilson was advised before Pinhook is permitted to race again the results of an ECG test must be produced prior to Pinhook performing to the satisfaction of the stewards in an official barrier trial. A post race veterinary examination of Archaea found the gelding to have broken down badly in the near hind leg. Trainer E Slobodniuk will be advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required must be produced prior to Archaea's next race start.

RACE 8 - Semits Smash Repairs Class 1 Handicap 1,200m

Cruciate was a late withdrawal at 10.30am acting on veterinary advice that the gelding had an elevated temperature. J Grisedale's explanation for being overweight was accepted and P Losh was substituted as the rider of Golden Ruler. On two occasions in the middle stages Golden Ruler was hampered when taken out by Celestia. When Golden Ruler was taken out on the second occasion leaving the 600M Major Debacle, which was following that filly and inclined to overrace, improved to the inside of Golden Ruler's heels and as a consequence when that horse shifted back in slightly was obliged to shift in thereby crowding the running of Solar Slipper which was checked. Rolling Seas and Queen's Revenge were hampered in consequence. Mr Platinum was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

RACE 9 - Robert Crawford Real Estate Open Handicap 1300m

We're Dancing was slow to begin.
