RACE 7 - KEMBLA GRANGE CUP 2000M
Mr P Cadden, representing trainer G Waterhouse, advised
that Spillway will now be spelled.
RACE 1 -HUNTER IMAGING GROUP SOCIAL CLUB 2YO MAIDEN PLATE
1200M
Reve and Beat The Best were slow into stride.
In the early stages Logger overraced getting its head up.
When questioned regarding his riding of Reve, A W Robinson
stated that the filly had not previously shown any early speed in its work or trials and
from the wide barrier they decided to ride Reve back in the field with cover. He said
throughout the race Reve was inclined to lay in away from Beach Glamour to its outside and
on straightening when he attempted to shift out to follow Je Desire the filly hung in and
for this reason he was obliged to remain racing on the fence. He said when placed under
pressure in the straight Reve hung in badly and brushed the running rail on a number of
occasions and near the 300M was reluctant to take a run inside Fille Fiona. A W Robinson's
explanations were noted. A post race veterinary examination of Reve did not reveal any
obvious abnormality.
RACE 2 - JEN, NARELLE & BEN X-RAY MAIDEN PLATE 1400M
Tilbury jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
N Paine (Commander) was found guilty of a charge of
careless riding under AR 137(a) in that near the 600M he made insufficient effort to keep
his mount from shifting in resulting in Zilia being severely checked. N Paine's licence to
ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 2 March 2002 and to expire
on Monday 11 March 2002 on which day he may ride.
Near the 700M Royal Conspiracy was checked off the heels of
Strategic Star, which was steadied when Commander shifted out.
Close to the finishing line Powderfinger (B Stanley)
shifted out under pressure resulting in Royal Conspiracy having to be steadied. B Stanley
was advised to exercise more care.
RACE 3 - DET NAC RISING STARS SERIES 2002 - HEAT NO. 1
PROVINCIAL CLASS 1 AND MAIDEN PLATE 1600M
On jumping the saddle on Diamond Alight shifted back.
Kalakan was slow to begin.
On jumping Fasolato and Ali Dapper bumped.
Red Leader and Regal Hula made contact on jumping.
Apprentice V Tearle was reprimanded for failing to claim
her full allowance on Kalakan.
Apprentice R Agnew, rider of fifth placegetter Fasolato,
was reprimanded for failing to weigh in when required.
An inquiry into apprentice R Wiggins' riding on Red Leader
was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
RACE 4 - TOSHIBA MEDICAL AUSTRALIA 3 YO & UPWARD
MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
As L Weaver was overweight, A W Robinson was substituted as
the rider of Rizal. L Weaver was reprimanded.
Auranie refused to jump with the field and lost
considerable ground. Trainer S Meehan was advised that Auranie must barrier trial to the
satisfaction of the stewards prior racing again.
Zanisa jumped awkwardly.
Candelaria raced ungenerously getting its head up
approaching the first turn.
Amy's Pet was slow into stride and in the middle stages
when pulling hard had to be steadied off the heels of Zanisa and shifted out hampering
Spectrum's Image. Amy's Pet then rolled in resulting in Rizal having to be steadied away
from that filly's heels.
Cosmina Lass hung out rounding the home turn.
Near the 350M J Lee (Dynamic) dropped his whip.
Near the 100M Spectrum's Image (N Tomizawa) laid inwards
under pressure crowding Dynamic. N Tomizawa was advised to exercise more care.
RACE 5 - HUNTER IMAGING GROUP SOCIAL CLUB CLASS 1
HANDICAP 1200M
As N Seymour failed to arrive on course, N Stanley was
substituted as the rider of Naberzox. N Seymour was fined $100.
Prince Hal stood flatfooted when the gates were released
losing considerable ground. Stable representative for trainer M Lees was advised that
Prince Hal must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.
The tiring Naberzox was crowded near the 200M when Speed
And Class laid inwards.
Near the 200M Why I Wonder had to be taken to the inside of
the heels of Dame Famous when disappointed for a run between that runner and Miss Cenies.
A W Robinson (La Boca) was reminded of his obligation to
ride his mounts out fully to the line.
RACE 6 - AMERSHAM HEALTH CLASS 3 HANDICAP 900M
Rhythm Prince and Poetic Lord began awkwardly.
Touch The Plate was slow into stride and near the 700M
dipped.
Poetic Lord was unable to obtain clear running in the
straight and consequently was not tested.
Homegrown hung in badly when under pressure in the
straight. Stable representative for trainer M Lees undertook to advise stewards on the
condition of the mare in the days subsequent.
A post race veterinary examination of Carlton found the
gelding to be acutely lame in the off fore leg. Trainer P Perry advised the stewards that
Carlton would now be retired.
RACE 7 - TOSHIBA MEDICAL OPEN HANDICAP 1300M
Near the 250M when attempting a tight run between Zedivain
and Klaxon, Perfect Paradise (A W Robinson) made contact with the hindquarters of Klaxon,
became unbalanced and was then further hampered when Zedivain shifted out under pressure.
A W Robinson was advised to ensure there are clear runs before attempting similar runs in
future.
Passing the 200M Olivier was disappointed for a run and
shifted to the inside of Perfect Paradise to obtain clear running.
RACE 8 - AMERSHAM HEALTH PROVINCIAL CLASS 3 PLATE 1400M
Near the 900M Mr James had to be steadied away from the
heels of Gold Banker when that gelding shifted in slightly.
Passing the 75M Luskin L'Etoile (A Gibbons) shifted out
whilst being ridden along at the same time as County Tyrone shifted in slightly. Gold
Banker, which was racing between these two runners, had to be checked and lost its
running. Taking everything into consideration the stewards severely reprimanded A Gibbons
and advised him that when his mounts shifted ground he must stop and straighten them.
When questioned as to the reasons for Big Bal Bowski racing
back in the field today M Butler stated that due to Big Bal Bowski's poor performance at
Randwick on 28 January 2002, he had been instructed by trainer G Portelli to have Big Bal
Bowski ridden back with cover. Trainer G Portelli confirmed these instructions due to that
run at Randwick, however Mr Portelli was reminded of his obligations to inform the
stewards of any change in riding tactics.
When questioned regarding Perance racing back in the field
B Stanley stated that he had been instructed to ride the horse back with cover. He said
near the first turn he had attempted to go forward, however was kept wide by Gold Banker
and as a consequence he steadied Perance back in the field to save ground. He said at the
home turn when attempting a run to the inside of Gold Banker he was disappointed and had
to be taken out to obtain clear running. Trainer B Partelle confirmed the instructions and
was reminded of his obligation to notify the stewards of any change in riding tactics.
GENERAL:
Licensed trainer R Fitzsimmons was found guilty of a charge
under AR 8(e) in that he breached AR 53A(2) by failing to report to the stewards without
delay the fact that Straight Wilder had bled following its run at Newcastle on 1
September 2001. Mr Fitzsimmons was fined $500.
