RACE 1 - B & B SUPPLIERS MAIDEN PLATE (DIV 1) 1400M

After being slow to begin Zumdinger shifted out, clipped the heels of Lifeline Express and blundered.

When the pace steadied approaching the first turn near the 900M Mr Turtle got its head up and shifted out. Royal Vista, which was following, had to be steadied off the heels of Mr Turtle and shifted out taking Zumdinger wider. Timor Flyer, which was following Zumdinger, clipped the heels of that runner, was taken wider and lost ground.

At the entrance to the straight Royal Vista was briefly held up on the heels of Earl Grey.

A post race veterinary examination of Earl Grey did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 2 - WESTPAC HELICOPTER MAIDEN PLATE (DIV 2) 1400M

As J Morris was indisposed due to a trackwork injury during the week, permission was given for M Scorse to be the substitute rider of High Gloss.

O'Mars was slow to begin.

On two occasions in the middle stages Sleepin' had to be steadied off the heels of High Gloss. Blue Brocade, which was following, was hampered in consequence.

For some distance in the early part of the straight Sleepin' had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Near the 300M A W Robinson, the rider of O'Mars, accidentally dropped his whip.

O'Mars was then inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

A post race veterinary examination of Mythology, which weakened in the straight, revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Ms M Croston, representing trainer G Waterhouse, was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to Mythology racing again.

RACE 3 - BELMONT 16FT SAILING CLUB 2 YO MAIDEN PLATE 900M

Mahrathe was slow to begin.

Jester Dale was inclined to run out in the straight when placed under pressure.

Happened In Paris raced greenly in the straight.

A post race veterinary examination of Mahrathe did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4 - B & B STAFF MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

The start was delayed when Jump 'N' Move cast a plate in the enclosure and had to be re-plated.

Shepherd's Lil and Jump 'N' Move bumped on jumping.

Approaching the first turn near the 900M Dr Danube, which was racing fiercely, had to be checked off the heels of Character Builder and shifted out resulting in Shepherd's Lil becoming unbalanced.

In this incident Nuclear Power shifted out and away from Shepherd's Lil and subsequently made the first turn awkwardly.

For some distance in the middle stages Dr Danube continued to got its head up when being steadied off heels.

Deranged hung out in the middle stages.

For some distance around the turn and in the early part of the straight Magnaforce was held up for clear running behind Voyeur and inside Deranged and near the 300M shifted out across the heels of Deranged to obtain clear running.

Shepherd's Lil was held up until passing the 200M.

RACE 5 - ACE OF CLUBS WALLSEND OPEN HANDICAP 1500M

Correct weight was delayed when A W Robinson, the rider of the winner Perfect Paradise, weighed in half a kilogram underweight. Acting under the provisions of AR143 A W Robinson was permitted to use the bridle of Perfect Paradise to make up the allotted weight. A W Robinson was reprimanded.

Kalos was slow to begin.

Sea Jester was inclined to lay out in the straight.

Apprentice L Fitzsimmons was reminded of his obligation to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion.

RACE 6 - CHARLESTOWN BOWLING CLUB PROVINCIAL CL 1 AND MAIDEN PLATE 1600M

A W Robinson was fined $50 under AR8(e) for failing to leaving the jockeys' room as soon as directed by steward Mr S Carvosso.

Correct weight was delayed when M Privato, the rider of the winner Perance, weighed in six tenths of a kilogram underweight. Acting under the provisions of AR143 M Privato was permitted to use the bridle of Perance to make up the allotted weight. M Privato was reprimanded. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account that M Privato had only once before breached this rule when an apprentice.

Detriano Rose was briefly held up at the entrance to the straight.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of Perance, trainer Mr B Partelle stated that as instanced in the stewards' report from Newcastle on 6 March 2002, the gelding was not suited by being ridden forward on that occasion, and as stated on that day the instructions today were for Perance to be off the pace in order to settle the gelding. He said the thought Perance had got its tongue over the bit at its previous start and for this reason he experimented with a tongue tie as well as a crossover nose band as gear changes for today's event. He said in his opinion these gear changes, coupled with the change in riding tactics, were to Perance's advantage today.

RACE 7 - CLUB MACQUARIE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 900M

Bowdan Time jumped awkwardly.

Mr Platinum jumped awkwardly and lost considerable ground when its rider, M Scorse, lost his offside iron for a short distance.

Winsome Gold, which was slow to begin, hung out rounding the home turn.

RACE 8 - B & B KITCHEN SINK PROVINCIAL CLASS 3 PLATE 1300M

Srevaut overraced in the early stages.

Red Chequer shifted out under pressure passing the 200M and as a result Srevaut had to be steadied.

RACE 9 - B & B SUPPLIERS CARDIFF CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200M

Swiss Franc jumped awkwardly, lost considerable ground and refused to settle in the early stages. Trainer G Delaney will be advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of Swiss Franc.

Near the 900M as Oakfield Duchess and Remlap crossed to the lead the pace immediately slackened and as a result Ferenzo ran up on to the heels of Oakfield Duchess (S Treweek) and had to be checked. S Treweek was cautioned in relation to steading the pace too quickly once obtaining the lead. As a result of Remlap (A G Robinson) also slowing the pace leaving the 900M and racing fiercely, Celestia had to be checked off the heels of that runner.

Waiting ran out and away from Celestia resulting in Marples and Swiss Franc being taken wider. Major Debacle, which was following, was checked and shifted out hampering Champagne Crazy, Marples and Swiss Franc. A G Robinson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances, after having crossed to the lead, so as not to slow the pace to such an extent.

Remlap continued to overrace in the middle stages.

Near the 600M Archaea had to be checked off the heels of Major Debacle.

Royal Bowra was crowded at the entrance to the straight between Major Debacle, which shifted out slightly, and Swiss Franc.

Vesmour was held up in early stages of the straight.

Passing the 200M Archaea was held up on the heels of the tiring Waiting.

Near the 50M Ferenzo shifted out and bumped Champagne Crazy which became unbalanced and dipped.

A post race veterinary examination of Swiss Franc revealed lacerations to the mouth.
