RACE 1 – CLEANAWAY / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE

DESERT COMMANDER (W. Kerford) and YURIATSYN (S. Harrison) were both slow to begin.

Over the concluding stages BOSENDORF (C. Robertson) showed a tendency to lay in and as a result hampered MAKE YOUR MARK (S. Price).

RACE 2 – ELDERS DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE

SEPARATOR (S. Price) jumped out at the start and bumped VICHENO (W. Kerford).

In the vicinity of the 400 metres NAZGALOV (P. Marks) had to be steaded from the heels of the tiring WILLETT (NZ) (K. Post).

In the vicinity of the 300 metres HIROTA (D. Yendall) shifted out slightly at the same time as SEPARATOR (S. Price) shifted in slightly and bumped VICHENO (W. Kerford). As a result WILLETT (NZ) (K. Post), which was racing between HIROTA and VICHENO, had to be steadied for a few strides.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres HIROTA (D. Yendall) shifted in and hampered BLEVENCIA (M. Hoppo).

RACE 3 – LUCINDALE HOTEL DISTANCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP

MIGHTY ATILLA (W. Kerford) jumped awkwardly and as a result lost some ground.

In the vicinity of the 1600 metres MIGHTY ATILLA (W. Kerford), which was pulling hard, shifted out and hampered TEXAN TRADER (J. Potter).

In the vicinity of the 1400 metres OUR SHIVOO (S. Harrison) raced ungenerously for a short distance.

Between the 400 metres and the 300 metres PRINCE RULES (M. Evans) was continually held up for a clear run and had to steady off the heels, firstly of BRUEGHELDANCER (C. Puls) and then J’AI ROUGE (C. Lindop).

RACE 4 – S.E. REFRIGERATION CLASS 2 HANDICAP

In the vicinity of the 300 metres FULL ON RED (C. Lindop) had to be steadied from the heels of BEAUQUEST (D. Yendall).

Shortly before the finish line C. Lindop, rider of FULL ON RED, accidentally dropped her whip. C. Lindop was fined the sum of $50 under ARR 137(a) for Carelessness.

RACE 5 – ORIGIN ENERGY CLASS 3 HANDICAP

BISCALATE (S. Price) jumped out at the start and as a result VANDERLITE (M. Evans) was hampered for a few strides.

Over the concluding stages ATLANTIC (D. Carney) shifted out onto GOLDEN KOLOLO (S. Harrison), which in turn shifted out onto VANDERLITE (M. Evans) causing that horse to be steadied for a few strides. D. Carney was reminded of his obligations when riding his mounts out to the line.

Subsequent to the race the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that LANEMA had suffered a laceration to the near hind leg.

A veterinary examination of GRAND MANSION following the event revealed that the gelding had been slow to recover.

RACE 6 – SA LIVESTOCK CLASS 4 HANDICAP

In the vicinity of the 450 metres SUMMER KING (M. Evans) shifted out and brushed TELL NO LIES (NZ) (C. Bryant).

RACE 7 – SMOKE-FREE CHALLENGE 2002 (HEAT 2)

Correct Weight was delayed in being semaphored for this event to allow the Stewards to view the official head on film of the start to ensure that WILL HE BE (C. Robertson) had not been denied a fair start. After viewing the film in conjunction with the Starter, Stewards declared Correct Weight.

WILL HE BE (C. Robertson) reared as the gates were released and as a result lost considerable ground.

SHOWGAZER (M. Hagley) and CHEERS POP (B. Claridge) were both slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres WILL HE BE (C. Robertson) became unbalanced for a few strides.

WILL HE BE (C. Robertson) was disappointed for a clear run over the concluding stages.

OUR AVON (D. Yendall) showed a tendency to shift in over the concluding stages.

RACE 8 – SCHWEPPES / SABIS FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE

RED’S TOY was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and passed fit to take its place in the field.

KEEP ME DANCING (J. Maund) jumped in at the start and as a result FINAL CHANCE (M. Evans) was hampered for a few strides.

GOLDEN TAOS (D. Carney) was disappointed for a run between the 300 metres and the 200 metres.
