& UP MAIDEN PLATE:
LUBOWICZ (P. Gatt) jumped away
awkwardly.
SPEEDOVICH (R. Faehr) shifted out abruptly
on jumping away and inconvenienced LONGWILL LAD (B. Claridge), which was taken out onto
HONOR PREVAILS (NZ) (J. Maund), which was hampered.
HONOR PREVAILS (NZ) (J. Maund) raced
greenly in the early stages of the race.
In the vicinity of the 500 metres BLEVENCIA
(B. Vale) had to be eased off the heels of LUBOWICZ (P. Gatt) and shifted in,
inconveniencing ROMANTIC LOUIE (T. Barras).
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of LUBOWICZ confirmed that gelding had blood in its off side nostril.
A Veterinary inspection of ALASKAN CHAPEL
(NZ), subsequent to the race, revealed the gelding had suffered a contusion to the near
fore flexor tendon during the event.
RACE 2 SOUTH PACIFIC SEEDS SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD
MAIDEN PLATE:
J. Maund was notified as the rider
of THANKS A BUNDLE.
The start of this race was delayed owing to
LAMBRUK proving difficult to load in the gates. Mrs. H. Frusher, Trainer of LAMBRUK, was
advised that a repetition of that geldings behaviour at the barrier would lead to
action being taken against it.
LAMBRUK (P. Marks), MR. WATERMARK (Darren
Holland) and REGAL RIPPLE (J. Holder) were slow to jump.
LAMBRUK (P. Marks) and MR. WATERMARK
(Darren Holland) raced greenly in the early stages and LAMBRUK was reluctant to hold its
position when racing on the fence, inside MR. WATERMARK.
Near the 300 metres MISS ZUTPHEN (H.
McKechnie), which was inclined to lay in, shifted in, inconveniencing CHARLIZE (W.
Kerford).
Approaching the 200 metres MR. WATERMARK
(Darren Holland) shifted out and brushed MISS ZUTPHEN (H. McKechnie), which continued to
lay in.
In the early stages of the straight TORTOLA
(S. Price) was inclined to lay in, behind THANKS A BUNDLE (J. Maund).
RACE 3 TERRA SEEDS SABIS
THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE:
MR LE CONTE (B. Claridge) and REKORB (W.
Kerford) were slow to jump.
Near the 300 metres TROPHY HOLDER (J.
Potter) shifted out and as a result TELBON LOTTO (S. Cahill) was obliged to steady away
from its heels.
Inside the 100 metres NEVADA GOLD (J.
Lorensini) shifted in under riding, and as a result BALANNE (P. Gatt) shifted away
abruptly and made contact with FULL GLOW (J. Maund), which was inclined to lay out.
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of NEVADA GOLD, winner of the race, revealed the gelding to be lame in the off
fore fetlock.
RACE 4 CITY FRUIT & VEG
SUPPLIES CLASS 3 HANDICAP:
In the vicinity of the 400 metres LOVE OF
BRANDY (Murray Henderson) rolled in and brushed OUTSIDE THE SQUARE (S. Price).
RACE 5 SCALZI PRODUCE FLYING
HANDICAP:
MISTER DISCREET (NZ) (B. Claridge) lost its
near fore plate during the event.
RACE 6 SUPA SALAD TOMATO CLASS
2 HANDICAP:
The start of this race was delayed owing to
LAPSHA (L. Smith) breaking through the stalls. The mare was quickly restrained and
returned to the barriers. A Veterinary inspection of LAPSHA ruled it fit to start.
On jumping away WHY DI (R. Faehr) was
inclined to rear as the gates opened.
In the vicinity of the 300 metres LAPSHA
(L. Smith), which was inclined to lay in, shifted in onto VENTRILOQUIAL (J. Maund).
Approaching the 200 metres LAPSHA (L.
Smith) shifted in under riding, tightening VENTRILOQUIAL (J. Maund) in onto CHALTOM (M.
Neilson), which was obliged to ease.
Near the 100 metres LAPSHA (L. Smith)
shifted in, under riding, and tightened VENTRILOQUIAL (J. Maund) in onto CHALTOM (M.
Neilson), which was inconvenienced.
L. Smith was severely reprimanded and
advised to take greater care when shifting ground in future.
Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
inspection of LAPSHA revealed the mare to have a bruised sole on its near fore leg.
A routine swab sample was taken from
SHES POSH, winner of the race.
WHY DI lost its near hind plate during the
event.
RACE 7 SUPA SALAD TOMATO CLASS
5 HANDICAP:
C. Buchiw replaced J. Nevin as the rider of
FLAME BIRD, owing to J. Nevin reporting he would be overweight. A submission will be
sought from J. Nevin at a later date, into his reasons for not being able to make the
required weight.
The start of this race was delayed owing to
BELLCINA refusing to be loaded.
BELLCINA was withdrawn by Stewards at 4.19
p.m.
Stewards ruled that all monies wagered on
BELLCINA be refunded. Bets made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value
of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 20 cents in the dollar
from the face value of the ticket, and
Bets for a PLACE - 20 cents in the dollar
from the winnings only.
Ms. K. Broughton, representing Mr. B.
Mueller Trainer of BELLCINA, was advised the mare was to be loaded without delay in an
organised trial, before accepting for a future event.
MILITARY TUNE (Darren Holland) jumped away
awkwardly.
Inside the 300 metres STELLA VISTA (W.
Kerford), which was inclined to lay in, and away from GEORGIA GLOAMING (S. Camilleri),
shifted in and contacted FLAME BIRD (C. Buchiw), which became unbalanced.
In the vicinity of the 300 metres DELLOTTIE
(J. Potter) was held up for a short distance when unable to obtain a clear run, and was
obliged to shift to the inside of RATIONS (D. Cleaver) to obtain clear running.
Inside the 200 metres STELLA VISTA (W.
Kerford), which continued to race ungenerously, shifted in and brushed FLAME BIRD (C.
Buchiw), which was attempting to shift out, across the heels of DEQUELLO (P. Marks).
A routine swab sample was taken from
GEORGIA GLOAMING, winner of the race.
RACE 8 K. J. & O. WEBB
CLASS 1 HANDICAP:
JEMOON (J. Potter) jumped away awkwardly
and shifted out, taking RURAL FORREST (J. Maund) out onto BAROSSA SCHOLAR (S. Price),
which shifted out onto BULL DOG TEDDY (J. Holder), which was forced to check and lose its
position.
In the early stages of the race JEMOON (J.
Potter) got its head up and raced ungenerously.
Approaching the 1300 metres GO EMMA (H.
McKechnie), which was inclined to race ungenerously, got its head up and shifted out, and
inconvenienced DANGEUREUX (Darren Holland).
At the entrance to the straight JEMOON (J.
Potter) was obliged to steady off the heels of MAID TO KEEP (M. Hoppo) for a short
