Rail: Out three metres from the 830 to the 430 metres

RACE 1 – CAWTE INDUSTRIES / SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD SPECIAL CONDITIONS HANDICAP – 1006 metres

Darren Holland replaced S. Cahill as the rider of DURRON, owing to S. Cahill being excessively overweight. S. Cahill was subsequently fined $100 under ARR 120(b).

JUST VIC (M. Hoppo) was slow to begin.

MASTER SIMBA (J. Maund) was slow to begin and showed a tendency to race greenly in the early and middle stages.

In the vicinity of the 600 metres DURRON (Darren Holland) shifted in and brushed MISS BANDITTO (N. Tomizawa).

In the vicinity of the 200 metres DURRON (Darren Holland) rolled out and as a result JUST VIC (M. Hoppo), which had to be momentarily steadied, shifted out and brushed NEAT LAUREL (P. Gatt).

HIKING (D. Cleaver) showed a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages.

RACE 2 – MURRAY BRIDGE MOTOR INN / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1206 metres

Apprentice J. Potter replaced C. Lever as the rider of SIAM, when no other Senior Rider was available.

B. Claridge replaced J. Bowditch as the rider of FRENCH BELLE, owing to J. Bowditch being excessively overweight. J. Bowditch was subsequently fined $100 under ARR 120(b).

 

Prior to the start WILBURYS (Darren Holland) broke through the barrier stall; was quickly restrained, vetted and passed fit to take its place in the field.

LUCKY BLIGHTER underwent a Veterinary inspection at the barriers and was declared fit to start.

SIMONDE (N. Tomizawa) jumped in at the start and hampered LUCKY BLIGHTER (J. Maund).

JAZ BREE (M. Hoppo) showed a tendency to hang out in the early and middle stages.

In the vicinity of the 700 metres RUBITON ROYALE (C. Lindop) shifted in and as a result GHAAZI (NZ) (P. Gatt) had to be steadied.

Inside the 400 metres BLUE BOWS (D. Cleaver) was momentarily held up for a clear run.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres ISSAPARDEE (D. Carney) shifted in and hampered SIMONDE (N. Tomizawa).

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of QUERIDA GEM revealed the filly returned with a sore lower back.

RACE 3 – LAKEWOOD STUD / SABIS FILLIES & MARES CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1406 metres

In the vicinity of the 200 metres M. Neilson, rider of CHOCOLATE ECLAIR, accidentally dropped his whip. As a result that rider was fined the sum of $50 for carelessness.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of QUEEN MILENA revealed the mare had a small amount of blood in the off side nostril. After undergoing an endoscopic examination it was revealed that QUEEN MILENA had not suffered any internal haemorrhage.

RACE 4 – RANVET GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE (OVER THE RAINBOW SERIES) – 3292 metres

TEXAN TRADER (P. Fahy) shifted out after jumping the fence in the vicinity of the 1400 metres and as a result PRINCE LAMAYR (J. MacMillan) contacted the heels of TEXAN TRADER and stumbled. P. Fahy was reminded of his obligations in similar circumstances in future.

In the vicinity of the 800 metres TOUGHEN UP (N. Hanley) shifted in and inconvenienced DELETE ME NOT (J. Julian).

Over the concluding stages DELETE ME NOT (J. Julian) shifted in and brushed TOUGHEN UP (N. Hanley).

RACE 5 – MITAVITE XLR8 CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1606 metres

PHANTASMIC (S. Price) and DUKATTI GREY (W. Kerford) were slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 1400 metres GO SPIDER (C. Bryant) shifted in and as a result FLEET MASTER (D. Tootell), which was racing ungenerously, shifted in and brushed PATRIARCH (M. Neilson), which became unbalanced. C. Bryant was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of AFFINITAS revealed the mare had returned with a laceration to the off side knee.

A Veterinary inspection of ACCESS POINT, subsequent to the race, revealed the gelding had returned lame in the near fore shoulder.

RACE 6 – CARRINGTON FINANCIAL SERVICES HANDICAP – 1206 metres:

KURT (J. Bowditch) jumped in at the start and bumped NEW NEPHEW (C. Lindop), which in turn bumped SOUPLESSE (NZ) (J. Maund).

KURT (J. Bowditch) shifted in over the concluding stages and brushed DANGEROUS REEF (M. Neilson).

RACE 7 – MENZIES MARKETING CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1006 metres:

D. Cleaver replaced S. Cahill as the rider of PRINCE OF REVELRY, owing to S. Cahill being excessively overweight.

The start of this event was delayed when the tongue tie had to be readjusted on BONNIE GOLLIE.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres VENETIAN HABIT (B. Blacker), which was racing ungenerously, shifted out onto BONNIE GOLLIE (J. Potter), which in turn shifted out slightly and commenced to race with its head in the air. At the same time BROTHER’S JEST (P. Gatt) shifted in slightly and as a result EL VANA (M. Hoppo), which was racing between BONNIE GOLLIE and BROTHER’S JEST, was checked and lost its position. Stewards took no further action as they believed that no one rider was responsible.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres PRINCE OF REVELRY (D. Cleaver) shifted out and brushed MAGNUM OF PRAISE (NZ) (T. Barras), which in turn shifted out onto BROTHER’S JEST (P. Gatt), which shifted out and brushed SO SAY ALL OF US (R. Faehr).

In the vicinity of the 200 metres ATHINOULA suffered a spinal injury and fell, dislodging rider S. Price. In the incident EL VANA (M. Hoppo) was inconvenienced by the fallen horse. ATHINOULA was subsequently euthanased. S. Price was unfit to ride in Race 8.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres EL VANA (M. Hoppo) veered out sharply, almost dislodging its rider. Mr. M. Seyers, Trainer of EL VANA, was advised that a warning had been placed on the mare in relation to its racing manners.

RACE 8 – BUNDABERG RUM CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1406 metres:

Apprentice M. Neilson replaced S. Price as the rider of SEA THE WAY, as there was no other Senior Rider available.

TO PAY UP (D. Tootell) was slow to begin.

HEADACHE (T. Barras) was inconvenienced at the start and lost its position when FLAME BIRD (N. Tomizawa) jumped in, and COMMANDO BAY (NZ) (J. Lyon) jumped out.

In the vicinity of the 1200 metres CAPTAIN CHRISTIE (B. Vale), which was showing a tendency to over-race, shifted in onto FLAME BIRD (N. Tomizawa), which in turn shifted in and hampered MISTER MANDEREE (B. Claridge).

CAPTAIN CHRISTIE (B. Vale) showed a tendency to over-race in the early and middle stages.

In the vicinity of the 300 metres GATTON (C. Lindop) shifted out and as a result SHIRAZ NOW (J. Maund) had to be steadied for a few strides. C. Lindop was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.
