Stewards accepted the explanation
from J. Julian for being doubly engaged in the race.
As a result of the scratching of ABSTAINING
TIGER, Stewards permitted B. Rhodes to replace J. Julian as the rider of FORMIC AURA.
The explanation from Mr. C. Stewart for the
late declaration of J. Evans as the rider of YACAMANNA KING was accepted.
FORMIC AURA (B. Rhodes) fell at the second
last hurdle. A Veterinary inspection of FORMIC AURA revealed the gelding had suffered some
lacerations to its hind legs. B. Rhodes was uninjured.
RACE 2 CSR READYMIX/GAYLARD
PLASTER/SABIS MAIDEN PLATE
SOLARPLEX (NZ) (M. Hagley) was slow to
begin.
Shortly after the start KEENANS PRIDE
(M. Neilson) had a tendency to shift ground.
Racing to the 600 metres KEENANS
PRIDE (M. Neilson) clipped the heels of BELLAMON (J. Barnett) and fell. M. Neilson was
conveyed to the Mt. Gambier Base Hospital for x-rays and observation. The inquiry into the
incident was adjourned to a date to be fixed to allow M. Neilson to view the video film.
A Veterinary inspection of KEENANS
PRIDE revealed the gelding was suffering some soreness in the shoulder as a result of the
fall.
BELLAMON (J. Barnett) lost its near side
hind plate during the running of the race.
RACE 3 HARVEY NORMAN / SABIS
MAIDEN PLATE (1st Division)
Mr. R. Lepleys explanation for
the late declaration of M. Hagley as the rider of JAI ROUGE was accepted.
AY TEA EM was ridden by A. Peterson, as the
race book incorrectly showed T. Barras as the rider of the mare.
C. Buchiw replaced M. Neilson as the rider
of CAPTIVATE YOU, as a result of M. Neilsons fall in the previous race.
Stewards ordered the withdrawal of
WAROOKA HONEY at 1.42 p.m., acting on Veterinary advice the mare had injured its near side
eye en route to the racecourse.
The start of this race was delayed fifteen
minutes due to the ambulance staff attending to Matthew Neilson on the track.
CHAIN OF COMMAND underwent a Veterinary
inspection at the barrier and was declared fit to start.
CHAIN OF COMMAND (S. Vella) was slow to
begin.
Shortly after the start DUSKY JEWEL (G.
OLoughlin) shifted in and as a result tightened OUR POET (C. Lindop), which in turn
shifted in, inconveniencing KAAPSTORM (S. Harrison), which was also hampered due to
LORRAINES GIFT (L. Smith) shifting out.
Racing to the 800 metres CAPTIVATE YOU (C.
Buchiw) shifted in and as a result DUSKY JEWEL (G. OLoughlin) had to be eased and
rolled out slightly, resulting in LYNBROOK LADY (P. Marks) having to be checked. LYNBROOK
LADY was further inconvenienced due to OUR MANDATE (NZ) (K. Post) shifting in. As a result
of LYNBROOK LADY being checked LORRAINES GIFT (L. Smith) had to be severely checked
to avoid that mares heels.
C. Lindop and K. Post were advised to
exercise more care in similar circumstances.
RACE 4 STAFFORD & EARL /
ASTON NEWMAN TIMBERS MAIDEN PLATE
The start of this race was
rescheduled to 3.15 p.m.
MOKTAWICZ (S. Harrison) was slow to begin.
Racing to the 900 metres CUSTOMIZE (K.
Post) shifted in and as a result ARMADA WAY (J. Dertilis) had to be steadied to avoid that
geldings heels and shifted in, inconveniencing TKACHEV (J. Julian).
K. Post was advised to exercise more care
in similar circumstances.
P. Marks, rider of GEM OF SIERRA 2nd Placegetter,
requested to view the Stewards head-on film of the race. After doing so P. Marks lodged an
objection against MASTER CONTROL being declared the winner of the race, for alleged
interference approaching and passing the 200 metres. After taking evidence from all
parties, on their own observations and viewing the official video film of the event,
Stewards dismissed the Protest.
In the vicinity of the 200 metres MASTER
CONTROL (T. Barras), which had a tendency to lay out, shifted out and brushed GEM OF
SIERRA (P. Marks).
A Veterinary inspection of STURGEON LASS,
subsequent to the race, revealed no visible abnormalities.
RACE 5 CONCEPT DRAFTING /
ITS A CELEBRATION CLASS 3 HANDICAP
The start of this race was
rescheduled to 3.45 p.m.
Stewards accepted the explanation of Mr. A.
J. Clark for the late declaration of A. Peterson as the rider of JEWEL OF KINGSTON.
GEORGIO (D. Mittiga) jumped away awkwardly.

BAXTER HIRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP
A swab sample was taken from HULA
STORM, winner of the race.
C. Buchiw replaced M. Neilson as the rider
of REDS.
SIRGARF (A. Peterson) was very slow to
begin.
RACE 7 CARLTON & UNITED
BREWERIES OPEN HANDICAP
A swab sample was taken from ARCH
FIEND, winner of the race.
JET EXPRESS (NZ) (C. Buchiw) was slow into
stride and lost ground.
Racing to the 500 metres JET EXPRESS (NZ)
(C. Buchiw) rolled in, resulting in OUR GUIDED MISSILE (NZ) (S. Harrison) being taken in
and brushing the running rail.
Racing to the 300 metres JET EXPRESS (NZ)
(C. Buchiw) rolled out, resulting in SPIRIT OF DEMUS (K. Post) being inconvenienced.
C. Buchiw was advised to exercise more care
in similar circumstances.
RACE 8 PILKINGTON BROWN BROS /
THE TILE PLACE / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE (2nd Division)
S. Harrison was incorrectly shown in
the race book as the rider of BETRAAZIM, when in fact the colt was to be ridden by T.
Barras.
J. Julian was incorrectly shown in the race
book as the rider of MARRYS PRIDE, when in fact the mare was to be ridden by D.
Mittiga.
G. OLoughlin replaced C. Lindop as
the rider of JETINA (NZ), as a result of C. Lindop being doubly engaged in the race.
Stewards accepted the explanation of
Trainer Mr. L. Fartch for doubly engaging C. Lindop and advised him that in future he is
to confirm all riding engagements.
ICY CHANCES (NZ) (B. Blacker) reared when
the gates were released and lost ground.
Racing to the 300 metres SELL THE STARS (J.
Julian) was disappointed for a run when FAIR MANTO (G. Hoobin) commenced to weaken.
Racing to the 900 metres FAIR MANTO (G.
Hoobin) shifted in and as a result WORLDLY ROSE (A. Peterson) was inconvenienced.
G. Hoobin was reprimanded and advised to
exercise more care in similar circumstances.
B. Blacker, rider of ICY CHANCES (NZ), was
dislodged from the gelding after the winning post. B. Blacker was uninjured. |
