RACE 1 – MARGARET STREET MEATS HURDLE – 2400 metres

PITT BOSS KISS (NZ) (J. Wallace) was slow to begin.

MR. SMART GUY (G. Preston) jumped the hurdle situated near the 900 metres poorly and upon landing shifted in, tightening NON NEGOTIABLE (J. MacMillan).

Correct Weight was delayed to allow P. Kelly, rider of WHO KILLED KENNY 4th Placegetter, to view the official photo-finish for third. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

RACE 2 – ALLEN LISTON & CO / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 metres

STAR OPERATOR was a late withdrawal at 11.50 a.m. when a Veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it was not fit to take its place in the field, due to a skin lesion in its girth region.

J. Potter, rider of NAME IT 4th Placegetter, lodged an objection against DEAL AN ACE (K. Post) 3rd Placegetter, for alleged interference in the vicinity of the 900 metres. After taking evidence from all parties, viewing the official video film and acting on their own observations, Stewards dismissed the objection.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres DEAL AN ACE (K. Post), which showed a tendency to lay in, shifted in slightly, resulting in NAME IT (J. Potter) having to be steadied.

K. Post, rider of DEAL AN ACE 3rd Placegetter, requested to view the official print for second, subsequent to the event. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

RACE 3 – CARRAILL’S PRODUCE / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 900 metres

Mr. S. Garland, Trainer of ZAKAZ, was fined $50 for the late declaration of T. Barras by the required time.

ZAKAZ (T. Barras) jumped away awkwardly.

DMITRY (J. Potter) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event.

In the vicinity of the 400 metres GREAT WHITE EAGLE (B. Blacker) shifted out, resulting in TWIG PRANCER (A. Peterson) being inconvenienced. B. Blacker was advised of her obligations when shifting ground.

Racing to the 100 metres TWIG PRANCER (A. Peterson) shifted in, resulting in GREAT WHITE EAGLE (B. Blacker) having to be steadied to avoid the heels of that mare. A. Peterson was advised of his obligations when shifting ground.

RACE 4 – SCOTT GROUP OF COMPANIES / SABIS F & M CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 metres

NADEMA (K. Post) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with the rail.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres TILLISCORE (B. Payne) began to race ungenerously and hang out. At the same time, MAHALOHA (B. Blacker) shifted in, taking WITH PASSION (S. Harrison) in onto HULA STORM (J. Potter), resulting in that mare being tightened between TILLISCORE and WITH PASSION and having to be steadied.

Racing inside the 900 metres NADEMA (K. Post), which had been racing ungenerously, had to be steadied from the heels of TILLISCORE (B. Payne).

RACE 5 – GEOFF MORRIS WHOLESALERS CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1200 metres

No report.

RACE 6 – SNEATHS TRANSPORT CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1580 metres

A Veterinary inspection of DANNICK, which was fractious in the barriers and became cast, revealed the gelding was fit to take its place in the field.

On jumping away BREAK ME SHAKE ME (C. Lindop) and SOULMAKER (NZ) (S. Harrison) brushed together.

SOULMAKER (NZ) (S. Harrison) raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event.

Racing to the 400 metres SOULMAKER (NZ) (S. Harrison) shifted out, resulting in LAKE PARIS (M. Hagley), RUSSIAN ROUBLE (C. Bryant) and INDIGO ISLE (K. Post) all brushing together. S. Harrison was advised of his obligations when shifting ground.

RACE 7 – CARLTON & UNITED HANDICAP – 1580 metres

ALL THE ACTION (C. Bryant) was held up and unable to obtain clear ground behind CHICKASA (B. Payne) for a distance inside the 400 until approaching the 200 metres.

G. Hoobin, rider of GOTHIC KNIGHT, was fined $100 under ARR 140A when that rider failed to have his saddle correctly mounted.

RACE 8 – NOEL BARR TOYOTA 2-Y-O & UP MAIDEN PLATE – 1580 metres

HER HONOUR was a late withdrawal at 3.55 p.m. when no rider was available on course to ride the filly.

In the vicinity of the 1300 metres TRESPASSERS WILL (D. Mittiga), which had been racing ungenerously, shifted in, making contact with COME TO TELOPEA (C. Bryant), unbalancing that gelding. As a result of the contact TRESPASSERS WILL then shifted out, making contact with LAZZA (M. Hagley), resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced.

Racing inside the 600 metres CHEWBACCA (M. Neilson) shifted out slightly, resulting in MILLION STORMS (K. Post) being inconvenienced.
