Stewards ordered the withdrawal of
TESTONI (NZ) at 8.35 am after the Clubs Secretary advised that a scratching had been
advised on the Clubs answering service prior to the scratching deadline.
ABSTAINING TIGER (P. Kelly) jumped
awkwardly and lost considerable ground.
ZIPPER DIPPER (P. Creig) was slow to begin.
RACE 2 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN HOTEL
MAIDEN PLATE (Division 1)
MR. SMART GUY (T. Barras) was slow
to begin.
DUNGAREES (L. Smith) jumped away awkwardly.
Racing to the 1000 metres SPECTACULAR RUN
(NZ) (D. Yendall) had to be eased when racing ungenerously.
Racing from the 900 metres BRANDY SPRINGS
(C. Bryant) showed a tendency to lay out and racing to the 800 metres rolled in and
brushed TANAMI TORNADO (M. Hagley).
Following the running of this race the
Stewards reclassified the track from Good to Dead at 12.45 pm.
LIFT (T. Barras) was slow to begin.
G. OLoughlin, rider of JESS
N JAMES, reported that the gelding had shown a tendency to lay out throughout
the race.
RACE 4 COMMERCIAL HOTEL CLASS
3 HANDICAP
GLENORMISTON BRAVE was withdrawn by
order of the Stewards at 1.30 pm after confirmed advice that the vehicle carrying the
gelding to the course had broken down and would not arrive in time.
A swab sample was taken from GOLDEN WHIRL,
unplaced runner in the race.
Racing to the 1200 metres GOLDEN WHIRL (M.
Hagley) had to be eased due to WANGOOM WONDER (G. Hoobin) shifting in. G. Hoobin was
reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.
Racing to the 1000 metres WINFIELDS
SHADOW (NZ) (C. Bryant) became unbalanced for some distance and lost its position when
tightened for galloping room by BISRAAMI (D. Missen) which was showing a tendency to lay
away from WANGOOM WONDER (G. Hoobin).
M. Hagley, rider of GOLDEN WHIRL, could
offer no real explanation for that geldings poor performance today apart from the
fact she felt GOLDEN WHIRL was attempting to do its best but failed to respond at any
stage to her riding and she was extremely disappointed with the geldings effort.
RACE 5 ROYAL MAIL HOTEL CLASS
2 HANDICAP
SPIRITUAL MISS was withdrawn by
order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 1.35 pm after that mare had injured
its back en route to the course.
Stewards ordered the withdrawal of
BENTONITE at 1.59 pm acting on a confirmed telephone call that the gelding would not
arrive on course by the required time.
C. Lindop replaced S. Dunn as the rider of
RORYS ACE after a confirmed telephone call that Samantha Dunns motor vehicle
had broken down.
RUNAWAY STARLET (D. Yendall) jumped away
awkwardly.
RACE 6 ELAINE HUTCHESSON
FAREWELL CLASS 1 HANDICAP
NORTHERN CASTLE broke through the
barrier and after galloping a circuit of the course was recaptured. Stewards ordered the
withdrawal of NORTHERN CASTLE at 3.10 pm to prevent any further undue delay. Stewards
ruled that all monies wagered on NORTHERN CASTLE be refunded. Bets made prior to the
withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 10 cents in the dollar from the face value of the ticket, and
Bets for a PLACE - 10 cents in the dollar from the winnings only.
A swab sample was taken from FLEET MASTER,
the fourth placegetter.
RACE 7 NARACOORTE HOTEL /
SABIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP
MISS DANGER (J. Burgess) underwent
a veterinary inspection at the barrier and was declared fit to start.
Approaching the winning post AQUATIC ARCH
(C. Lindop) had to be eased to avoid the heels of PINE MIST (P. Marks).

RACE 9 FEDERAL HOTEL-MOTEL /
SABIS MAIDEN PLATE
Stewards ordered the withdrawal of
MIRSEVINI at 5.10 pm after that mare became unruly in the barrier and a subsequent
veterinary inspection declared the mare unfit to race. Stewards ruled that all monies
wagered on MIRSEVINI be refunded. Bets made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the
face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN - 6 cents in the dollar from the face value of the ticket, and
Bets for a PLACE - 7 cents in the dollar from the winnings only.
CALIFORNIA ROSE (G. OLouglin)
underwent a veterinary examination at the barrier and was declared fit to start.
RED RONALD (B. Blacker) refused to jump
from the barrier and took no part in the race. Mrs. H. Frew, trainer of RED RONALD, was
advised that the gelding was now suspended from racing until such time as it can prove to
the Stewards in an organised barrier trial that it can jump with the field before being
accepted for a race again.
Mr. G. Hancock, trainer of MIRSEVINI, was
advised that the mare will have to pass a trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before
being accepted for a race again.
Racing to the 1000 metres AT THE FENCE (P.
Marks), which was showing a tendency to lay out throughout the race, inconvenienced
CALIFORNIA ROSE (G. OLoughlin).
Racing to the 400 metres CALIFORNIA ROSE
(G. OLoughlin) rolled in and as a result AT THE FENCE (P. Marks) shifted away from
that mare and inconvenienced BOOK OF KINGS (C. Lindop). |
