CLASS 1 HANDICAP
Shortly after straightening "Billy Terror" was
hampered and had to be eased off the heels of "Stradie", which was taken out
slightly by "Summer Envoy".
Nikki Burke, trainer of "Snow Squall", was fined
the sum of $30.00 for using wrong colours on the mare.
RACE 2 - PENINSULA CURTAINS SUPER VOBIS 3YO MAIDEN
PLATE
"Our Starway" was slow to begin, Stephen Baster,
rider of "Beni Hana" advised the Stewards that he had restrained his mount as
due to being drawn wide he wished to take his mount across the field towards the rail. S.
Baster added that the saddle had shifted forward shortly afterwards and he had been unable
to restrain his mount, which was racing fiercely.
Rounding the turn near the 800 metres "Saleslady"
had to be eased when tightened for room between "Sunday Swing" and "Captain
Nice Guy" due to both horses shifting ground slightly.
Rounding the home turn "Saleslady" brushed the
running rail when held up for a run behind "Ghost Party".
RACE 3 - WELLS ROOFING CLASS 2 HANDICAP
Near the 800 metres "Lord Alfred" was
inconvenienced due to "Phinrow" shifting out slightly.
RACE 4 - OLYMPIA HEALTH CLUB SUPER VOBIS CLASS 3
HANDICAP
Near the 200 metres on the first occasion "Abrabian
Towers" and "Imposing Image" bumped.
Shortly after this incident "Imposing Image" was
hampered due to "Arabian Towers", which was over-racing shifting out across the
heels of "Titus".
When the pace slackened near the 1600 metres "Waratah
Special" after initially being eased to avoid the heels of "William"
shifted out, clipped the heels of "Killruddery" and almost fell.
A veterinary examination of "Our Vain (NZ)",
which had performed poorly revealed no apparent abnormality.
RACE 5 - BARLOWORLD MERCEDES CLASS 5 HANDICAP
"Impi" began awkwardly shifted out and bumped
"Vasileu" resulting in "Impi" losing a little ground.
Near the 500 metres "Tariama (NZ)" had to be
checked when tightened for room between "Appleby" (Kerrin McEvoy) which shifted
in slightly and "Hastings" (Andrew Findlay) which shifted out to improve his
position on the outside of "Love Me Back". A. Findlay was reprimanded and
advised that he must ensure he has sufficient room when taking runs in future. K. McEvoy
was advised to make every effort to keep his mounts straight.
Mr Brian Turner, trainer of "Very Adamant",
reported to Stewards subsequent to the race that the gelding had strained a pectoral
muscle. A veterinary examination of "Very Adamant" revealed the gelding was lame
in the near fore leg. Mr Turner was informed that he would have to produce a veterinary
certificate of fitness before "Very Adamant" races again.
RACE 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT MORNINGTON CUP
Kerrin McEvoy, rider of "Gunnamatta", winner of
the race, was fined the sum of $200 for making a celebratory gesture with his whip prior
to the winning post.
On straightening "Cavallo Bruno (NZ)" was
momentarily held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
Mr Leon J. Corstens, trainer of "Waajib Star",
was fined the sum of $50.00 for the late notification of the rider of the gelding.
A veterinary examination of "Blacktype Magic",
which had performed poorly revealed no apparent abnormality.
RACE 7 - BENNETTS CUSTOMER SERVICE CLASS 4 PLATE
On jumping away "Snip A Dane" was bumped by
"Archie's Girl", which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in. "Archie's
Girl" was then hampered when tightened for room by "Subversive (NZ)", which
after initially shifting in was taken in further by " El Seigneur", which was
shifting in.
For a short distance rounding the home turn
"Danislew" was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
Near the 200 metres "Guthrie" was tightened onto
"El Seigneur" by "Subversive (NZ)" (Reece Wheeler), which shifted in
resulting in both those horses being hampered. R. Wheeler will be reprimanded and notified
that he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.
Shortly after this incident "Paradise D'Or",
which was attempting a narrow run between "Snip A Dane" and "Gaidel's
Bid" was bumped onto "Snip A Dane" due to "Gaidel's Bid" shifting
out slightly.
RACE 8 - EAT WELL LIVE WELL HAREEGA STAKES
"Mr. Bombastic" was slow to begin.
Near the 200 metres "Ebony Night", which was
weakening was inconvenienced due to "Rancho Spark" shifting out.
RACE 9 - SPIRAL GROUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP
Making the crossing near the 1200 metres
"Transmit" got its head up when being checked off the heels of
"Teerex".
Near the 200 metres "Cut Through" had to be
checked to avoid the heels of "Celestial Twig", which was weakening.
Shortly after this incident "My Fraarlein" had to
change course to avoid the heels of "Teerex" (Noel Callow), which shifted in. N.
Callow will be notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
SWAB SAMPLES:-
Random swab samples were taken from "Rare Result"
winner or Race 3 and "Titus" unplaced in Race 4.
Routine swab samples were taken from the following winners:
Race 6 - "Gunnamatta"
Race 7 - "Guthrie"
Race 8 - "Slalom"
Six horses were pre-raced tested for post race analysis. |
