Race 1 - STEEPLES TABARET FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:

As "Janey Jugah" was unable to be loaded into the stalls, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the mare at 1.05 p.m.

After being kicked behind the barriers "Rhiannon's Spirit" was inspected by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, and declared unfit to run. Acting on veterinary advice the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of "Rhiannon's Spirit" at 1.05 p.m.

Subsequently the Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on "Janey Jugah" and "Rhiannon's Spirit" be refunded, and that all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of "Janey Jugah" and "Rhiannon's Spirit" be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win Bets: Ten Cents; Place Bets: Twelve Cents; Winning Concession Bets: Ten Cents, and Doubles Bets: Ten Cents. All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal were ordered to be paid at face value of the ticket.

Acting on a report from the Starter regarding the unruly behaviour of "Janey Jugah" at the barrier, the Stewards notified part-owner/trainer Mrs. S. Borschmann that an official warning would be recorded against the mare for her performance today, and that prior to racing again a barrier test certificate in respect of the mare must be lodged.

When the gates opened "Fleur de Moi" was hampered when tightened for room between "Zecchino", which shifted in, and "Elameerah", which shifted out.

Near the 1000 metres "Fleur de Moi" accidentally clipped the heels of "Ice Drop", which shifted out slightly.

Near the 500 metres "Fleur de Moi" had to be eased to avoid the heels of "Zecchino", which shifted in.

Approaching the 100 metres and until the end of the race "Miss Scotia" was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.

Approaching the winning post "Fleur de Moi" shifted out and bumped "Proud Run".

Race 2 - EAT WELL LIVE WELL THREE-YEARS-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE - 1500 metres:

When the gates opened "Delightful Attire" was slow to begin.

Near the 900 metres "Zo Ally" was hampered when tightened for room between "Tennessee D'Or", which shifted out slightly, and "Tarcoola Star", which shifted in slightly.

Near the 200 metres "Sweet Destiny" had to be checked when tightened for room by "Ella Corina" which, when having a tendency to lay in, then shifted in slightly.

Shortly after this "Stand Clear" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Zo Ally", which shifted in slightly, and "Ella Corina", which shifted out.

For the majority of the straight "Ella Corina" hung in under pressure.

Race 3 - CARLTON DRAUGHT MAIDEN PLATE - 2000 metres:

Rounding the home turn "Brave Raami" had to be checked severely when tightened for room by "El Creido (Arg.) which, when weakening, shifted in slightly away from "Zadonna", which also shifted in slightly away from "Classic Impetuous". As no one rider was fully responsible for the incident the Stewards took no action.

Race 4 - LIMERICK LANE THOROUGHBREDS CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

At the entrance to the straight "Final Dividend", which was laying out, had to be checked when tightened for room between "Dancing Phoenix", which shifted in slightly, and "Land Rule", which shifted out slightly.

Race 6 - CROWN CASINO CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1500 metres:

Rounding the home turn "Buckeye Blue" was held up for some distance when unable to obtain a clear run.

Race 7 - CROWN CASINO CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:

On pulling up "Might Be (NZ)" was found to be sore, which resulted in N. Callow, rider of the mare, dismounting, which resulted in N. Callow being unable to return to the scales to weigh in. As the Stewards were satisfied that N. Callow had carried his allotted weight correct weight was declared.

Rounding the home turn "Verbito", which had commenced to weaken, had to be eased when tightened for room between "Firetaine (NZ)", which shifted out slightly, and "Destined for Fame", which shifted in slightly.

Subsequent to the race the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that "Might Be (NZ)" was lame in the near fore leg. Mr. Tony Noonan, trainer of "Might Be (NZ)", was notified that prior to the mare racing again he must produce a veterinary clearance for it.
