RACE 1 : BLUE GUM FARM HANDICAP 1000

Stewards permitted the withdrawal of

a treatment that may have been administered to the horse.
The start of this race was delayed owing to
the bridle on QUANTUM LEAP, which had been restless in the stalls, needing replacement.
Subsequent to the race Stewards inspected the bridle of QUANTUM LEAP and were satisfied
with the condition of the equipment. Mr. G. Richards, the trainer of QUANTUM LEAP, was
reminded of his obligations under ARR 140A.
On jumping away RELIC HUNTER (S. Price)
shifted in onto CHERRY BELLE (P. Gatt) taking that filly in onto LENKETA (K. Louca), which
was inconvenienced. CHERRY BELLE continued to shift in and contacted the hindquarters of
OUR KDAN (C. Lindop), which became unbalanced.
RACE 2 : RUBITON HANDICAP 2500
metres
RIDE THE STORM was withdrawn by
Stewards at 11.00 am acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was sore in the off fore

T. Creek, the rider of RUSTY DUSTY GREY,

RACE 3 : ENCOSTA DE LAGO HANDICAP

and shifted in contacting BRANDENBURG (P. Gatt). At the same time, BRANDENBURG was
tightened by LORD ROYDON (T. Creek), which shifted in, resulting in BRANDENBURG being
forced to check off the heels of LORD ROYDON and losing its position. In consequence
DUKATTI GREY (M. Hoppo) followed BRANDENBURG onto the rail and became severely unbalanced
for some distance before shifting off and contacting SAPRISTI (NZ) (S. Price). T. Creek
was severely reprimanded and advised to give runners on his inside the room to which they
are entitled in future. D. Carney was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.
P. Gatt, the rider of BRANDENBURG,
explained that his mount had never really travelled in running, that it had not been
confident in the going and in consequence when placed under pressure in the vicinity of
the 600 metres, would not extend. Mr. R. Hore-Lacy, the trainer of BRANDENBURG, confirmed
that he had brought the horse to Adelaide looking for better going as the horse had
performed below expectations on rain affected tracks previously. BRANDENBURG was examined

Near the 700 metres SALLY ROSE was obliged
to steady off the heels of ELEGANT RHAPSODY (B. Vale), which rolled in.
When questioned regarding his riding of
SALLY ROSE over the concluding 700 metres, Darren Holland explained that after steadying
in the vicinity of the 700 metres, when his mount had lost its position, it had not felt
comfortable in the going and for this reason, over the concluding stages, he had only
ridden his mount in a hands and heels fashion. Stewards noted the explanation tendered,
however, informed Darren Holland that in future he would be expected to at least test his
mount to a greater extent than he had on this occasion. Subsequent to the race SALLY ROSE
was examined by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.
