Race 1 - STEEPLES TABARET SUPER VOBIS
THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE - 2000 metres:
On arrival at the barrier "Stand Clear" was
examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.
On jumping away "Grand Watch" was tightened for
room between "Carry me Home (NZ)", which shifted out, and "Stand
Clear".
Near the 1600 metres "Zo Ally", when over-racing,
shifted out abruptly, and hampered "Our Bullbaa".
On the home turn "Stand Clear" had to be eased
when tightened for room by "Carry me Home (NZ)", which shifted in.
Race 2 - CARLTON DRAUGHT MAIDEN PLATE - 1000
metres:
Near the 600 metres "Save the Reef" brushed the
running rail.
In the straight "Cheque Book Blitz" had to be
eased when tightened for room by "Keep me in Mind", which shifted out away from
"Molly Ellen (NZ)" after initially being brushed by that filly which shifted out
to obtain a run. V. Duric, rider of "Molly Ellen (NZ)", was notified to exercise
more care when attempting to obtain runs in future.
Race 3 - BECOME A MORNINGTON MEMBER FILLIES
AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE - 1500 metres:
On arrival at the start "In Red" got its leg over
the running rail prior to being boxed. A veterinary examination passed the filly fit to
run.
Prior to being boxed the bridle on "In Red"
broke, which necessitated replacement. This resulted in the start of the race being
delayed.
Race 4 - JEFF WIGNALL FORD CLASS 1 HANDICAP -
1500 metres:
Near the 1000 metres "Aubbutler" had to be
checked when tightened for room by "Poetic Pursuit" which, when over-racing,
shifted in slightly.
Race 5 - DENNIS NUGENT & ASSOCIATES CLASS
5 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:
On arrival at the course "Verbito" was examined
by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, who reported to the Stewards that the gelding was lame
in the off fore leg and was unfit to run. Acting on this advice the Stewards ordered the
withdrawal of "Verbito" at 12.02 p.m.
Race 6 - ALLAN LONIE PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT CLASS 3
HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
No report.
Race 7 - WATERTIGHT BETTASEAL CLASS 4 HANDICAP
- 1500 metres:
No report.
Race 8 - INDEPENDENT NEWS FILLIES & MARES
CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
At the entrance to the straight "Mercury Lounge"
had to shift ground to avoid the heels of "Gala Snip".
In the straight "Lorette: had to be eased when
tightened for room by "Rare Result" (Michelle Payne), which shifted in under
pressure. Michelle Payne was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
SWAB SAMPLES were taken from
"Ovation", winner of the Jeff Wignall Ford Class 1 Handicap - Race 4; from
"Regas", winner of the Watertight Bettaseal Class 4 Handicap - Race 7, and from
"Serene Pet", winner of the Independent News Fillies & Mares Class 2
Handicap - Race 8.
A random swab sample was taken from "Miss
Scotia", which ran unplaced in the Become a Mornington Member Fillies and Mares
Maiden Plate - Race 3.
FINES/EXPLANATIONS: The Stewards took no
action against Mr. D. Harrison, trainer of "Avita", for the late notification of
Jade DaRose as the rider of the mare which ran in the Carlton Draught Maiden Plate - Race
2.
ADJOURNED INQUIRY: An inquiry into the reason
for Andrew Findlay being notified as the rider of both "Carry me Home (NZ)" and
"Stand Clear" in the Steeples Tabaret Super Vobis Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate -
Race 1 - was adjourned to a date to be fixed. |
