Race 1 - SV 2YO Maiden Plate - 1112m

Due to Elissa being unable to be loaded into the barriers, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the filly at 11.46 a.m. Subsequently the Stewards ordered the following deductions to betting. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Elissa to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of Elissa are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket - Win bets - 3 cents, Place Bets - 4 cents, Winning Concession Bets - 3 cents, Double Bets - 3 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. Mr. K. Newman trainer of Elissa was notified that the filly was now suspended from racing until such times as she trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a trial and at such trial she must obtain a barrier test certificate.

Believe In Victory and Ricardo were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start Just Keep Smiling was hampered when tightened for room between Great Gladiator and Commandante, due to both horses shifting ground.

On the home turn Just Keep Smiling, which had a tendency to lay out, had to be eased off the heels of Obe Wan Kenobi.

Race 2 - Carlsruhe Roadhouse Maiden Plate - 1112m

Due to Life's A Beach being unable to be loaded into the barrier, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the filly at 12.18 p.m. Subsequently the Stewards ordered the following deductions to betting. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Life's A Beach to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of Life's A Beach are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket. Win Bets - 7 cents, Place Bets - 7 cents, Winning Concession Bets - 7 cents, Double Bets - 7 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. Mr. G. Mance trainer of Life's A Beach was notified that an official warning would be placed on the filly for her unruly behaviour today, and that he must produce a barrier test certificate prior to Life's A Beach racing again.

Shortly after the start Chez Nous was hampered when tightened for room between Brief Illusion and Why So Shy, which shifted out.

On the home turn Pindari's Ace shifted out to attempt a run between Brief Illusion, which was weakening , and Doctor Green Thumb, where there was insufficient room. Pindari's Ace then clipped the heels of Brief Illusion and fell, resulting in Zoffiel and Teamaker, which were racing on the outside of Pindari's Ace being hampered and also Why So Shy, Pokerfaced and Chez Nous, which were following, being hampered. G. Mattrick rider of Pindari's Ace was notified he must ensure he has sufficient room when attempting runs in future.

Subsequent to the race the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that Brief Illusion had suffered a wound to its near hind leg.

Race 3 - SV 3YO Maiden Plate - 1469m

Noble Scenario jumped away awkwardly and shifted out and brushed Moksha and as a result lost ground.

Approaching the 600 metres Skram had to be eased off the heels of Light Squall, which shifted out.

Race 4 - Tooheys New Class 1 Handicap (1) - 1875m

Turning out of the straight Mr. Firefly, which was over-racing, had to be checked to avoid the heels of Ming D'Or, which initially shifted in before being taken in slightly by Mocchaim (B. Cross). B. Cross was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

On the home turn B. Cross rider of Mocchaim accidentally dropped his whip.

Race 5 - Mollison Motors Class 2 Handicap - 1469m

In the middle stages of the race the saddle on Long Black shifted forward placing E. Cassar, rider of the gelding, at a disadvantage.

On the home turn Trial Balance, which was weakening, had to be eased when tightened for room between Little Tonic and Miss Suzi Que, which shifted out.

Race 6 - Perfect Party Hire Class 3 Handicap - 1112m

Shortly after the start Midas Millions was eased when tightened for room between Bio Lad and Mighty Storm, which shifted in.

Race 7 - Club Hotel Handicap - 1112m

No report.

Race 8 - Glen Erin F & M Class 2 Handicap - 1212m

Acting on a report from the Starter that Get Down had proven difficult to load into the barriers, Mr. J. Fraser, trainer of the mare, was notified that an official warning would be placed on Get Down and that he must produce a barrier test certificate in respect of the mare prior to it racing again.

Elegant Mist jumped away awkwardly.

Race 9 - Tooheys New Class 1 Handicap (2) - 1875m

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. K. Smith, trainer of Ski Aha, who stated that the car towing the float with the gelding, had broken down en route to the course and was unable to arrive by the appropriate time, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Ski Aha at 2.10 p.m.

On jumping away King Of The Pines knuckled.

Approaching the 800 metres Necessary had to be eased to avoid the heels of Sea Fit.

Passing the 700 metres Mr. Buster shifted out to obtain a run on the outside of Marphil and as a result hampered Coming On, King Of The Pines and Young Maverick.

Swab samples were taken from the following winners - Domine (Race 1), Zoffiel (Race 2), Gradabra (Race 5), Canny Bijou (Race 6), Berlinetta (Raced 8)

FINES

Mr. S. Webb trainer of Trial Balance (Race 5) was fined $30 for using wrong colours on the gelding.
