Race 1 - SV 3YO F Maiden Plate - 1100m
On jumping away Royal Fraar began awkwardly and bumped Miss
Venezuela. Miss Venezuela then shifted out away from that filly And tightened Livingstone
Lass out on to Clever Jeel, resulting in Livingstone Lass having to be checked.
Race 2 - Advent Security Maiden Plate - 1850m
Shortly after the start Solitaire, which was over-racing,
shifted in and bumped Star Flight on the hind quarters.
Near the 1400 metres British Bounty (NZ), which was being
eased off the heels of Evening Gem, shifted out slightly and raced tight with Star Flight.
As a result Star Flight accidentally clipped the heels of Minjahra.
After passing the 400 metres British Bounty (NZ) had to be
checked when tightened for room between Star Flight, which shifted in slightly and Dhoom
Rhya (L. Currie) which shifted out. L. Currie was notified to exercise more care when
shifting ground in future.
Race 3 - L & G Sheppard F & M Maiden Plate
- 1450m
Shortly after the start Oakwood Miss had to be checked when
tightened for room between Lorrellee, which shifted in slightly and My Girl Suki, which
was taken out by Bardon Hill. Shortly after this incident My Girl Suki, which was
over-racing, shifted in and hampered Bardon Hill.
Race 4 - Victoria Tavern Class 1 Handicap - 2000m
My Belle Amie (NZ) jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start Underground Lover was hampered when
tightened for room between Uncle Owen, which shifted out slightly, and Union Lad, which
shifted in.
The saddle on Union Lad shifted forward in the early stages
of the race placing its rider D. Yates at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
Near the 500 metres Manajoka had to be checked when
tightened for room between Monde Trist, which shifted in slightly, and Underground Lover,
which became unbalanced after being brushed on the hind quarters by Our Banjo, which
shifted out slightly.
Race 5 - Tooheys New Class 6 Handicap - 1850m
Shortly after the start Noah's Fortune was tightened for
room between Aerolon and Poetic Glory, which both shifted ground.
Near the 600 metres Noah's Fortune when attempting a run
where there was insufficient room between Aerolon,which commenced to weaken and Edge of
Perfection, had to be checked off the heels of Aerolon.
Approaching the winning post Mooball, which was shifting in
under pressure, brushed Haggle.
Race 6 - All-A-Glow Cleaning Class 2 Handicap -
1200m
Prior to correct weight being declared. Jade DaRose rider
of Go Tilla, 3rd placegetter, wished to view the Stewards patrol video with a
view to lodging an objection. After viewing the video Jade DaRose did not proceed with an
objection.
Gifted Ace reared over behind the start and dislodged its
rider G. Eades. The mare was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to
run.
On jumping away Go Tilla knuckled.
Approaching the 800 metres Embryonic and Nobody were both
hampered when tightened for room by Fonome (L. Robertson), which shifted in when not
sufficiently clear. L. Robertson was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground
in future.
Approaching the winning post Motiti Lane (NZ) shifted in
and inconvenienced Go Tilla.
G. Eades rider of Gifted Ace explained that the mare proved
difficult to ride throughout the event and was a beaten horse from the 600 metres onwards
and for this reason did not ride the mare out in his normal manner in the straight. G.
Eades was notified that the Stewards accepted the fact that he had tested his mount near
the 600 metres and that she had commenced to give ground from that point onwards, however
they notified him he must ride all his mounts out hands and heels to the winning post.
Race 7 - Schweppes F & M Class 4 Handicap -
1200m
Beaufort Miss (NZ) knuckled on jumping away.
Rounding the turn near the 800 metres Valentia was hampered
when taken out by Skewiff, which shifted out.
Near the 200 metres Sunrise Flight was hampered when
tightened for room between Devonshire and Berry Nice (L. Currie), which shifted in when
not sufficiently clear. L. Currie was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when
shifting ground in future.
Also near the 200 metres B. Cross rider of Skewiff
accidentally dropped his whip.
Race 8 - WCBM Express Cargo Class 3 Handicap -
1450m
Due to a misunderstanding between Racing Victoria Stewards
and a representative of Tony McEvoy, trainer of Shanicity (NZ), that the gelding had been
suspended from racing at its previous start at Kilmore on 27th January, 2002,
until such time that it trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards, and as the gelding had
not been re-instated to race, the Stewards withdrew Shanicity (NZ) at 9.50 a.m.
After passing the 300 metres Federation had to be eased off
the heels of Durcilla, which shifted out.

Swab samples were taken from the following winners - Miduki
(Race 1), Underground Lover (Race 4), Winkler (NZ) (Race 5), Berry Nice (Race 7)
The following horses were pre-race blood tested for post
race analysis - Race 4 - Manajoka, Miss Vindes, Race 7 - Sunrise Flight, Frelita
FINES & EXPLANATIONS
Ernie Marchant rider of Evening Gem winner of Race 2 was
severely reprimanded for weighing in 1kg overweight. This was the first offence for Ernie
Marchant weighing in over his declared weight.
Stewards accepted the explanations from B.Hennel trainer of
Manajoka (Race 4),and G. Woolston trainer of Miss Iridium (Race 8),for their respective
late riders. |
