Race 1 - Lowden's Saddlery 3YO & Up Maiden Plate (1) - 1200m -

Rosuma was slow to begin.

Race 2 - Fern Tree Gully Nissan 3YO & UP Maiden Plate (2) - 1200m

Cautionary jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

In the straight Conciliation raced greenly.

Race 3 - Seymour Passenger Service 3YO & Up Maiden Plate - 1600m

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Terry Carson trainer of Latin Lave that the gelding was lame in the off fore leg and unfit to start, Stewards withdrew Latin Lava at 8.30 a.m. Terry Carson will submit a Veterinary Certificate in respect of the gelding to the Club.

Storm The Palace jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Also on jumping away Ton Of Class (NZ) lost its footing.

In the early stages of the race the saddle on Red Akin shifted forward, which resulted in Phil Michaelides, the gelding's rider, easing his mount out of the race near the 1000 metres.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight Storm The Palace was held up for a run.

Approaching the 100 metres Storm The Palace had to change course to obtain a run on the inside of Sarahbella, which had shifted out under pressure. Shortly after this Storm The Palace was tightened for room between Ton Of Class (NZ) and Sarahbella, which shifted in slightly. When being tightened Storm The Palace was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of E. Marchant, rider of Ton Of Class (NZ).

Race 4 - Lisa's Wedding F & M Class 4 Handicap - 1600m

Furby (NZ) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start Runon and Give Me Something were tightened for room by Check Our Beez, which was taken in by Toy Dancer (Donna Mott). As a result of this incident, Runon and Give Me Something were hampered. Donna Mott was notified to exercise far more care when shifting ground in future.

Approaching the 1100 metres Check Our Beez brushed the running rail when racing tight on the inside of Toy Dancer.

Race 5 - Gaffney Logistics Monsignor Morrison Class 2 - 1600m

At the entrance to the straight Gorki shifted out and brushed Reverberation. As a result of this incident Gorki then shifted back in and became unbalanced.

In the straight Fraarina had a tendency to lay in.

Race 6 - Kilmore House Removers, Rowes Plumbing & Grainway Enter. Class - 1100m

In the early and middle stages of the race Navaisha raced greenly, and approaching the 800 metres Urgent Action shifted out slightly, which resulted in Navaisha being taken out on to Just Hula.

Race 7 - Bull & Mouth Hotel Class 2 Handicap - 2100m

Due to a race book error the following rider changes are - Atlanta Rose - F. Alesci, Angel's Gem - R. Waymouth, Hobgoblin - J. Haitana.

Prior to correct weight Stewards viewed the head-on video of the start to ascertain whether Randoman (NZ) was denied a fair start. After taking evidence from Paul Didham, Starter, Ian McIntosh, Assistant Starter, Todd Rawiller, Barrier Attendant, and Aaron Spiteri rider of Randoman (NZ), Stewards deemed Randoman (NZ) a runner. It was established that just as the Starter released the field Randoman (NZ) reared and then bounded in the air and lost considerable ground.

Approaching the 100 metres the first time Manajoka had to be checked and Millepede was severely hampered when tightened for room between Royal Flipper, which shifted in slightly and Endless Spirit, which shifted out and away from Leys (Michael Heagney), which had shifted out to avoid the heels of Hobgoblin. After taking into account all the circumstances, Stewards took no action but notified Michael Heagney that he must exercise far more care when shifting ground in future.

After passing the winning post the first time Manajoka, which was over-racing, had to be checked off the heels of Royal Flipper.

In the early part of the straight Millepede had difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

Vincent Hall rider of Del's Obsession (NZ) which had performed below expectation stated to the Stewards that the gelding did not travel throughout the race and did not respond to his riding from the 600 metres to the winning post. Vincent Hall further stated that in his opinion Del's Obsession (NZ) raced like a tired horse.

Race 8 - Norbrook Laboratories SV 3YO Maiden Plate - 1600m -

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Matthew Ellerton trainer of Portland Place who stated that the colt had an elevated temperature and was unfit to start, Stewards withdrew Portland Place at 8.25 a.m. Matthew Ellerton will submit a Veterinary Certificate in respect of the colt to the Club.

Gold Sky jumped away awkwardly.

On jumping away Joffa Court shifted out and hampered Joe Tangles.

Libby Haworth trainer of Kenriva, when questioned regarding the improved performance of the filly, stated to the Stewards that the filly was having its fourth race today and had been improved by recent racing.

SWAB SAMPLES -

Routine swab samples were taken from the following winners - Fly With Honour (NZ) (Race 1), Dieu's Place (Race 3), Navaisha (Race 6)

A random swab sample was taken from Georgian Silk ( Race 5) which was unplaced.

A random swab was taken from McCabe winner of Race 7.

Pre-race blood samples were taken from the following runners for post race analysis - Race 3 -Palace Lad and Adieu, Race 4 -Toy Dancer, Race 5 - Misty Dee and Racey Lady

FINES & EXPLANATIONS

Pat Carey trainer of Star Of Siam (Race 5) was fined the sum of $50 for his late notification of Rowan Waymouth as the gelding's rider.

Stuart Webb trainer of Mooktarella (Race 7) was fined the sum of $30 for using wrong colours on the mare.

Peter Brazil trainer of Dynasty Angel (Race 8) was fined the sum of $30 for using wrong colours on the filly.
