RACE 1 - SPALDING COMMUNITY HOTEL/GEORGETOWN HOTEL/BUNDALEER HGHTS MAIDEN PLATE

The start of this race was delayed several minutes after several horses proved to be unruly en route to the barrier.

JUST JIM (J. Marks) and GREG (H. McKechnie) both dislodged their riders shortly after leaving the mounting enclosure. Both horses were quickly recaptured and taken to the start. JUST JIM broke away from the Clerk of the Course shortly after arriving at the barriers but was quickly recaptured. Both JUST JIM and GREG were vetted by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take their places in the field.

JUST JIM veered out sharply shortly after the start and dislodged its rider, J. Marks. J. Marks was examined by the Club’s medical officer and passed fit to ride for the remainder of the day.

MISS LADYBIRD (J. O’Connor) showed a tendency to hang out in the vicinity of the 800 metres.

Mr. G. Kelly, trainer of JUST JIM, was advised by the Stewards that the gelding must complete a satisfactory barrier trial for being unruly en route to the barriers and for its unsatisfactory racing manners before being accepted for any future races.

Trainer, Miss L. Treloar, was advised that a warning had been placed on GREG for its unruly behaviour en route to the barrier.

Trainer, Mrs. V. Reid, was advised that a warning had been placed on MISS LADYBIRD as that mare had proved difficult to load.

RACE 2 -JAMESTOWN HOTEL/MAXIMUM GAMING/SWAN PHARMACY CLASS D HANDICAP

MAYBE MOLLY (J. Potter) jumped out at the start and bumped SAUNTERING (Maree Henderson.

PARIS LACE (B. Neville) was slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 1000 metres JAZORSKY (J. O’Connor) shifted in slightly and hampered PARIS LACE (B. Neville).

Over the concluding stages PARALINA (H. McKechnie) showed a tendency to shift out and as a result LAVINTI (Murray Henderson) had to be checked in the vicinity of the finish line. H. McKechnie was reminded of her obligations when riding her mounts out to the line.

RACE 3 – NATIONAL AUSTRALIA BANK/AMP/RAILWAY HOTEL CLASS 4 HANDICAP

ILLUSTRIOUS RULER (H. McKechnie) jumped awkwardly.

AMEN’S PRIDE (Maree Henderson) pulled very hard in the early and middle stages.

RACE 4 –MITAVITE/SMOKE-FREE JAMESTOWN FEDERATION CUP

FARHILLS (M. Cornell) was slow to begin.

RIDE THE STORM (J. Marks) jumped in at the start and bumped MAHATMA (B. Neville), which in turn shifted in and bumped CARNIVOROUS (J. O’Connor).

Shortly after passing the finish post on the first occasion RIDE THE STORM (J. Marks) lost its footing and fell and as a result SMOKEY RIVER (NZ) (Murray Henderson), which was racing behind RIDE THE STORM, also fell. Both riders were examined by the on course medical officers and passed fit to take their mounts in race 5.

RACE 5 -WESFARMERS-LANDMARK/KLR/COMMERCIAL HOTEL SABIS MAIDEN PLATE

A swab sample was taken from WOMAN IN ME, winner of the race.

WHY HURRY (Murray Henderson) jumped out at the start and bumped MAID TO KEEP (M. Cornell).

Over the concluding stages GO SPIDER (H. McKechnie), which was showing a tendency to lay in, shifted in and hampered YAN YEAN (B. Neville). H. McKechnie was reminded of her obligations when riding her mounts out to the line.
