Race 1 - Rosebrook Restaurant Super Vobis Two Year Old Maiden Plate - 1100 Metres

When the gates opened What Happened bounded in the air and lost ground. Near the 800 metres Revolve Around Him had to be eased to avoid the heels of Ricketty Rocket. After passing the 800 metres Taaharja hung out for the remainder of the race. Approaching and rounding the home turn Ricketty Rocket hung out.

Race 2 - Members Trip to Warrnambool Maiden Plate (1) - 1100 Metres

On jumping away Watchful Joan shifted in and hampered Don't Call Me Baby in onto Teonajan. In the straight Adayoungar had a tendency to hang in.

D Larsson rider of Kingdom Blue who finished a distant last explained to the stewards that in the early and middle stages of the race Kingdom Blue hung out and as a result got further out of his ground than he intended to. Mr J Smerdon trainer of Kingdom Blue was notified that an official warning would be placed against the gelding for hanging out and not being competitive today. Mr Smerdon was further notified that prior to Kingdom Blue racing again he must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards.

W Nolan rider of Supreme Bid explained to the stewards that the mare was reluctant to stretch out in the early and middle stages of the race, and in his opinion believed that something was amiss with the mare. Subsequent to the race the clubs veterinary surgeon reported that Supreme Bid was shin sore. Mr D Daffy trainer of Supreme Bid was notified that he must be in receipt of a veterinary certificate of fitness for the mare prior to racing again.

Race 3 - Nissan Country Maiden Plate (2) - 1100 Metres

After been placed in its barrier stall The Volks Horse became fractious. The Volks Horse was removed from the barrier and examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon who deemed the gelding unfit to take its place in the field. Acting on this advice stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 1:15pm. As a result the start of the race was delayed.

Subsequent to the race stewards ordered the following in relation to betting. All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on The Volks Horse to be refunded.

All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of The Volks Horse are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket.

WIN - 6 cents
PLACE BETS - 7 cents
WINNING CONCESSION BETS - 6 cents
DOUBLE BETS - 6 cents

All monies bet after the steward's declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.

Prior to correct weight P Young rider of Winter, fourth place getter wished to view the official photo finish print for third place. After viewing the print P Young agreed with the judges decision and correct weight was declared.

When the gates opened Toy Maker jumped away awkwardly. After passing the 800 metres Walk Into Light had to be eased to avoid the heels of Stripatui which shifted out. Near the 800 metres Walk Into Light had to be eased when tightened for room between Dapper Lad and Santika which shifted out.

Race 4 - Horsham Hire Maiden Plate - 1400 Metres

When the gates open Shuveig was slow to begin. In the early middle stages of the race Surfie Pete got its head up when over-racing.

Race 5 - Morrow Nissan Class 1 Handicap - 2100 Metres

When the gates opened Ante Meridian was slow to begin.

Race 6 - Tooheys New Open Handicap - 1400 Metres

Rounding the home turn Nortonhad to be checked when tightened for room between Jack's Daniel (D Yendall) which shifted out and Deltrice (S Harrison) which shifted in when not clear. Both D Yendall and S Harrison were notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in near future. Near the 800 metres Norton had to be eased to avoid the heels of Bronze Monarch (M Munday) which shifted in when not clear. M Munday was notified to exercise far more care when shifting ground in future.

Approaching and rounding the home turn Swift Encounter was held up when unable to obtain a clear run S Tsaikos rider of Swift Encounter explained that he did not ride his mount out in his normal manner in the straight as in his opinion the gelding was not handling today's track conditions and he believed it was a beaten horse. Stewards notified S Tsaikos that he must ride all his mounts out until the end of the race.

Race 7 - Westside Tabaret SV Three Years Old Class 2 Handicap - 1100 Metres

After passing the 200 metres Iona Skye had a tendency to hang in.

Race 8 - Wimmera Party Hire Class 3 Handicap - 1100 Metres

When the gates opened Dollar Dazzler was slow to begin.

L Dowson rider of Glesso explained to the stewards that the gelding hung out for the duration of the race and for this reason over the concluding stages he eased the gelding down. A subsequent veterinary examination reported no abnormality.

Mr. C Burgess trainer of Glesso was notified that an official warning would be placed against the gelding and prior to racing again he must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards.

When the gates opened Hulyair began awkwardly.

Race 9 - Girls Day Out April 28th Class 2 Handicap - 1400 Metres - No report

SWAB SAMPLES -

Six horses were today pre race blood tested for post race analysis.

Race 3 - A swab sample was taken from Tilliscore winner of the race.
Race 4 - A swab sample was taken from Indecorum winner of the race.
Race 6 - A sample sample was taken from Our Guided Missile winner of the race.
Race 7 - A swab sample was taken from Mit and Mot winner of the race.

FINES AND EXPLAINATIONS

Race 1 - M Munday rider of Ricketty Rocket, third place getter was fined the sum of $300 dollars for failing to weigh in on the gelding. M Munday had previously offended in this area.

Race 2 - C Robertson rider of Grand Ballerina 5TH placegetter was fined the sum of $200 dollars for weighting in 1 kilo over his declared weight.

Race 8 - A Peterson rider of Dollar Dazzler, fourth place getter was severely reprimanded for failing to weigh in on the gelding. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account A Peterson had not offended in this area before.
