Prior to correct weight D Larsson rider of Our Option wished to view the start of the race as in his opinion he believed the filly had been denied a fair start. Also prior to correct weight R Martin rider of Compactus second place getter, wished to view the official patrol video and side on version of the race with the view to lodging an objection. After viewing the video's stewards deemed that Our Option had gained a fair start and correct weight was declared.

When the gates opened Centimetre Perfect jumped away awkwardly and shifted out and had to be eased off the heels of Alancia, which shifted in. Near the 800 metres Centimetre Perfect hung out and continued to hang out rounding the home turn

Stewards questioned D Larsson rider of Our Option regarding his riding of the filly throughout the race. D Larsson explained to the stewards that the filly was slow to begin and was reluctant to stretch out in the early and middle stages of the race and for this reason got further out of his ground then he intended too. Mr D Weir trainer of Our Option, explained to the stewards that he was initially satisfied with D Larsson's handling of the filly but after viewing the video conceded that D Larsson could have shown more vigour in the middle stages of the race. After taking all the evidence into account stewards severely reprimanded D Larsson and notified him that his ride gave the stewards serious cause for concern and that in their opinion he should have shown far more initiative and vigour in the early and middle stages of the race then he did on this occasion. Subsequent to the race the clubs veterinary surgeon failed to reveal any abnormalities with Our Option.
