Prior to the running of the first race stewards ordered the track to be sliced.

Race 1 -The Victory Laser Copy Maiden Handicap 1000m

All riders riding in the first race were notified of all work carried out on the track.

As there was a discrepancy between the document of description and the horse presented to race as "Softly's Token", Stewards were not fully satisfied with the identity of the filly and ordered the withdrawal of "Softly's Token" at 1pm.

Subsequently the Stewards ordered all monies wagered on "Softly's Token" to be refunded, and that all successful bets on horses prior to the withdrawal of "Softly's Token" be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket. Win Bets : Nineteen cents; Place Bets : Sixteen cents; Winning Concession Bets : Nineteen cents, and Doubles Bets : Nineteen cents.

Evidence was tendered from the trainer of "Softly's Token", Evan Zammit and Jim Kennedy, the clubs veterinary surgeon. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the matter.

On jumping away, "Yonderlox" shifted out and bumped "Red Digger".

Race 2 - The Opal Laser Handicap 2350m

Approaching the 600m the first time, "Endymion (NZ)" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Raving Halo" on the inside and "Fraternise" which was taken in by "Nartarlee" (A Bodey) which shifted in. A. Bodey was reprimanded and notified he must make a far greater effort when shifting ground in future.

When asked for an explanation of the poor performance of "Connemara Marble", M Tabone, the geldings rider stated that "Connemara Marble" failed to handle the track conditions today. A post race veterinary examination of "Connemara Marble" failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 3 - The Amcor Restricted Trophy Race (3) Handicap 1200m

"Just Bazza" was slow to begin. Rounding the home turn "Peppermint Ranch" dipped.

"Mrs Bottomley" layed in throughout the straight.

Race 4 - The Australian Paper Cup Handicap 1000m

"Toreador" was slow to begin.

Race 5 - The Croydon Hotel Open Trophy Healesville Cup 1650m

Passing the 200m "Security Guard" had to be eased off the heels of "Mere Words" which shifted in.

Race 6 - The Caxton Restricted Trophy Race (2) Handicap (1) 1650m

"Just Bazza" which won an earlier race today was penalised 1p kg. Prior to the race "Just Bazza" was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.

S. Cerchi, rider of "Mr. Firefly(NZ)" was severely reprimanded for flourishing his whip prior to the winning post.

Race 7 - The Sapphire Restricted Trophy Race (2) Handicap (2) 1650m
