Race 1 - Baker Group Maiden Handicap (1000m):

Naturally was slow to begin, and a short distance later its saddle slipped.

Queens Rose was slow to begin and was then crowded between Kapitza and Finest Jewel, both of which shifted ground.

Shortly after the start Our Mate Jack attempted to buck for a short

distance. Trainer Mr M.Johnston was told that a warning had been placed on the colt's racing manners.

Near the 600m Our Mate Jack was hampered by Loudness, which shifted out away from Arbitrage, which in turn had shifted out away from Finest Jewel.

At the 600m How I Wonder had to steady off the heels of Kapitza (App.D.Evans), which shifted in when not quite clear. App.Evans was reprimanded.

Race 2 - Australian Thoroughbred Breeders Club Limited Maiden Handicap (1000m)

Burn, which was very fractious in its barrier and became cast, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and found to be sore behind and to have a laceration to the mouth, and was withdrawn by the stewards at 1.25 pm.

The stewards ordered that all bets made with bookmakers on Burn be refunded, and that all winning bets with bookmakers be paid subject to the following deductions in the dollar: win 49c, place 45c, multiple doubles 49c; and that quinella bets are be voided and refunded.

Trainer Mr G.Frazer was told that Burn must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards from an enclosed barrier before racing again.

Supera began awkwardly. Shortly after the start Vellian got its head up when being steadied off the heels of Botanic Garden.

Rounding the home turn Botanic Garden was steadied when crowded by Supreme Riffs, which shifted in slightly.

Race 3 - Buttsworth Engineering Pty Ltd Class 6 Plate (1400m)

[Nothing to report]

Race 4 - Hughes Group of Companies Maiden Handicap (1400m)

Star Messenger was slow to begin, and over-raced in the early and middle stages.

Cape Crusader raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.

Race 5 - Keryn & Ian Miller Recycled Building Materials Maiden Handicap (1400m)

Cuvanna reared in its barrier and became cast. Acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was not fit to run, the stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3.15 pm.

They subsequently ordered that all bets made with bookmakers on Cuvanna be refunded, and that all winning bets with bookmakers be paid subject to the following deductions in the dollar: win 19c, place 16c, multiple doubles 19c, quinella 40c.

Trainer Mr C.E.Conners was told that Cuvanna must trial from an enclosed barrier to the satisfaction of the stewards before racing again.

Goldtorte was slow to begin and then shifted in and bumped No Tracks.

No Tracks was held up rounding the home turn and for some distance in the early part of the straight.

Race 6 - Webb & Parker Pty Ltd Class 1 & Maiden Plate (2000m)

Trainer Mr M.Hood confirmed the instructions and was reminded of his obligation to inform the stewards of any proposed change of riding tactics.

Race 7 - R. D. & S. Prior Drainage Contractors Class 3 Plate (1300m)

Capital Cee was slow to begin.
