King Of Acapulco was slow to begin. When asked about
the improved performance of Entertaining as compared to its 7 th of 7 placing at Wyong on
Thursday 4 April 2002 trainer Mr B. Partelle explained that as the gelding had pulled up
well after that run and had pleased in its work during the week and it was for this reason
he backed up Entertaining within five days. He said that, as instanced in the Stewards
report from that day, he believed the disappointing performance could be attributed
directly to the horse getting its tongue over the bit. He said that the addition of a
tongue tie was the principal reason for the gelding's improved showing today.
RACE 2: Colo Soccer Club Maiden Plate 1000m
The start was delayed as Spectrum Gallery proved difficult
to load. Approaching the home turn Glitter Bug brushed the running rail and became badly
unbalanced. Over the last 200m Spectrum Gallery laid in under pressure. King Kudos,
Hampton Park and Spectrum Gallery were slow to begin. C. Munce (Hampton Park) was unable
to offer any tangible explanation for the filly's disappointing performance. A post-race
veterinary examination of Hampton Park revealed no abnormality.
RACE 3: Mobile Pallets Maiden Plate 1000m

tire and was briefly tightened by that runner when Lovingly shifted in near the 400m.
RACE 4: Rural Press Maiden Plate 1400m:

Fan near the 1100m Little Lippy got its head up and became unbalanced. Near the 900m
Through was steadied off the heels of Unbridled Knight and shifted out. Charnwood Channon
was held up for a short distance after the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination of
Unbridled Knight, which performed disappointingly, revealed no abnormality.
RACE 5: Westminster Homes Maiden Plate 1400m
Netrepreneur, which was standing awkwardly, was slow to
begin and for a short distance after raced ungenerously and threw its head about when
being steadied. Near the 1000m Netrepreneur was briefly tightened by Star Quest, which
shifted in away from Favourite Blend. A post-race veterinary examination of Magic Sort
revealed no abnormality.
RACE 6: Zadro Constructions Class 1 Handicap 1400m
Myalla Star and Royal Bowra were slow to begin. Leaving
the 1000m Gold Cachet (P. Ferris) shifted in when not quite clear of Spinnaker causing
that horse to be taken in resulting in Khatanga being crowded and having to be steadied.
P. Ferris was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leave runners the room to which
they are entitled. After the race it was reported that Southern Sal had suffered a
bleeding attack and will incur the mandatory three-month ban (AR53A). When questioned, B.
Cooper (Phorcys) explained that on straightening she elected to follow Sky Kiss in the
hope that she would obtain a run to the inside of that runner as it had given an
indication that shortly thereafter it was shifting out. She said, however, that this did
not eventuate and as she had committed herself to the inside of that horse's heels she was
held up for a run when awkwardly placed on the heels of that horse and consequently was
unable to obtain clear passage in the straight and went to the line untested.
RACE 7: BP Kurmond Class 3 Plate 1600m
Mr T. Fahey, representing trainer Mr K. Parker, was
reprimanded for presenting Almazam in the enclosure with blinkers, which were not part of

For some distance in the middle stages Vital Asset overraced and got its head up when
being steadied off the heels of Danegar.
RACE 8: The Australian Bloodhorse Review Class 1 &
Maiden Plate 1800m
On jumping Dance To Budapest was checked when crowded by
Fete Champetre. Near the 800m Dance To Budapest was steadied off the heels of O'Mars
shifted out and inconvenienced Magic Oak. D. McLellan (Motorace) explained that the horse
was stepping up in distance and with the addition of blinkers today Motorace overraced and
because of this he was unable to find cover and elected to allow the horse to settle in
the lead. Near the 200m Burdekin Lass was steadied and shifted out from behind O'Mars when
disappointed for a run between that horse and Geearco. Fete Champetre had some difficulty
obtaining a run for some distance after the 200m.

ground. Trainer Mr B. Puckeridge was advised that a warning would be placed against the
gelding. Phenom was slow to begin and then pulled hard in the early stages. Shortly after
the start Act Natural was crowded between My Brown Eyed Girl and Mr. Attorney, which
shifted in. Blazing Arch was unable to obtain clear running in the straight. When asked
about the disappointing performance of My Brown Eyed Girl, D. Beadman said that the mare
may not have been suited by the step-up in distance at this stage of her preparation. He
said that although he received some tightening by Nabob, which, after improving to the
inside of the heels of Mr. Attorney, shifted in near the 800m, and again when Nabob
shifted in passing the 200m his mount was nonetheless disappointing in its failure to
