Hawker (SA) - Saturday 1 June 2002

Track: Good
Weather: Fine
Rail: True

RACE 1 - ARKABA/SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 metres

On jumping away HIGHWAY OF DREAMS (K. Louca) shifted in onto CLAY ROSE (M. Henderson), who in turn shifted in onto LET’S POW WOW (C. Bryant), resulting in that gelding being inconvenienced.

Racing to the 800 metres CLAY ROSE (M. Henderson) shifted in, resulting in JACK ‘N’ TAN (B. Vale) having to be eased.

RACE 2 - K.S. RASHEED MEMORIAL SABIS CLASS D HANDICAP – 1100 metres

A Veterinary inspection of STAR REBEL prior to the running of the race revealed the gelding was fit to start.

Approaching the 900 metres LAGONDA (S. Lovegrove), which had been taken in slightly by runners on her outside, shifted in, resulting in OUR BUTTERFLY (J. Burgess) clipping the heels of LAGONDA. MISS BALHANNAH (H. Gower), which had been racing on the inside of OUR BUTTERFLY, became tightened for galloping room and had to ease and lose its position.

In the vicinity of the 600 metres STAR REBEL (C. Bryant) laid out and brushed PARIS LACE (K. Louca).

RACE 3 - CUB WONOKA CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 metres:

LITTLE MISS CINDY (R. Faehr) was slow to begin.

A. Stead, rider of PURE CLASS 2nd Placegetter, lodged an objection against the winner EMMATINE (C. Bryant), on the grounds of alleged interference in the vicinity of the 300 metres. After taking evidence from all parties and acting on their own observations, Stewards upheld A. Stead’s objection. As a result, the amended placings were:

First 4 PURE CLASS (A. Stead)
Second 5 EMMATINE (C. Bryant)
Third 1 CENTRAL VIC (B. Vale)
Fourth 3 LITTLE MISS CINDY (R. Faehr)

In the vicinity of the 300 metres EMMATINE (C. Bryant) took a tight run on the inside of PURE CLASS (A. Stead), brushed the running rail and then shifted out, making contact with PURE CLASS, resulting in that gelding being hampered and becoming unbalanced, then shifting out abruptly. In consequence KATOOSH (K. Louca), RENDL (J. Burgess) and LITTLE MISS CINDY (R. Faehr), which were racing outside of PURE CLASS, were all hampered and taken wider.

RACE 4 - SUNSMART HAWKER CUP – 1800 metres

JEALTS EXPRESS was a late scratching at 2.30 p.m. due to no rider being available.

POUND SHILLING (R. Faehr) jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 1400 metres ALL RISE (S. Lovegrove) shifted in onto ZAHEEM (A. Stead), resulting in that gelding being taken in onto WILL SOAR (K. Louca), which had to be steadied.

Racing to the 700 metres TEHRIER (H. Gower) had to ease off the heels of TIKI PRINCE (Maree Henderson), which was showing a tendency to shift about.

A Veterinary inspection of POUND SHILLING subsequent to the event revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 5 - HAWKER 2 Y & UP MAIDEN PLATE – 1400 metres

PIRATE RIFLE (R. Faehr) jumped away awkwardly.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres MOLLY DOLLY (H. Gower) shifted in, resulting in CLASSIC ARCHWAY (C. Bryant) having to ease.
