Race 1 - ARGYLE ARMS HOTEL SUPER VOBIS
3YO MDN PLT (1100 METRES)
Shortly after the start QUERIDA GEM shifted in away from
CHAMPAGNE LIZZY and brushed the hindquarters of UMADALE.
Near the 800 metres UMADALE when being eased off the heels
of CHAMPAGNE LIZZY shifted out and brushed SAINT CHRIS.
Near the 600 metres BOSENDORF shifted out slightly and
brushed ARNAULT. ARNAULT then shifted out away from that gelding and hampered LADY BAY and
ALLO HARRY.
Ms B. Marshman Trainer of COMEDIE FRANCAISE (NZ) submitted
an amended stable return to show - R.J.O'Connell, S.P. McGuffick, M.W. Laracy, Ms C.
Briede, R. Officer and High Velocity Racing Synd. As nominators.

Near the 200 metres until the winning post HOBGOBLIN had
some difficulty obtaining a clear run.

PALARIVA MAN was slow to begin.
Race 5 - HAMILTON IGA CLASS 1 HANDICAP

OWEN layed out under pressure in the straight.
Race 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT HANDICAP
(1100 METRES)
B. Smith rider of ROSES AND WINE (third placegetter) wished
to view the Stewards' patrol video with the view to lodging an objection against MAGIC
CLAUSE (winner of the race). After viewing the patrol and TV footage B. Smith did not
lodge an objection and correct weight was declared. Approaching the winning post ROSES AND
WINE was hampered due to MAGIC CLAUSE (B. Park) shifting out. B. Park was notified to
exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
Garry Hoobin rider of CONSIDEMUS was found guilty of a
charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that near the 1000 metres he
permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of ROSES AND WINE thereby
taking that gelding in across the running of CADDY'S STAR resulting in that mare having to
be checked and then continueing to take ROSES AND WINE in across the running of MAGIC
CLAUSE resulting in that horse having to be checked and ROSES AND WINE taken in off its
course and being hampered. G.Hoobin was suspended from riding in races for a period to
commence at midnight tonight and to expire on midnight 13th February, 2002. In
arriving at this penalty the Stewards took into account G. Hoobin's excellent racing
record and the fact that this was his first suspension for careless riding.
Race 7 - DARCY'S TAVERN CLASS 1
HANDICAP (2200 METRES)
Near the 400 metres YAHOO which commenced to weaken
knuckled.
Approaching the 400 metres CASAVON had to be checked over
the heels of ZAMAMOON (S. Harrison) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. S.
Harrison was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in
future.
Race 8 - GEORGE HOTEL CLASS 4 HCP
(1600 METRES)
PORT CAMPBELL knuckled on jumping away.
Race 9 - ALEXANDRA HOUSE TABARET CLASS
2 HCP (1400 METRES)
After passing the 100 metres BRUEGHELDANCER was hampered
when tightened for room between JUKEBOX DANCER and OFFICER (N. Wilson) which was hanging
in and shifted in. N. Wilson will be notified to exercise more care when in similar
circumstances in future.
