RACE 1 - W N BULL FUNERAL DIREDCTORS RESTRICTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M

Big Diamond was slow to begin and shortly after became unbalanced when bumped by Erudite which shifted in.

Passing the 1200M Gold Reel was steadied when crowded by Erudite (P Falvey). P Falvey was advised to exercise more care.

A short distance later Magical Walk, which was inclined to overrace, was steadied off the heels of Erudite after that runner crossed to the fence.

After the race it was noted that Big Diamond had cast its near fore plate.

A post race veterinary examination of Gold Reel found the gelding to be mildly sore in the off hind leg. Trainer P Perry was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to Gold Reel racing again.

RACE 2 - W N BUL FUNERALO DIRECTORS RESTRICTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M

Ollytarna and My Joey were slow to begin.

My Joey was briefly held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

H Bowman (Cousin Louise) explained that his mount travelled fairly in the early stages, however when placed under pressure shortly after straightening did not respond to his riding and although he was crowded momentarily passing the 150M when Dervish shifted in, it was disappointing in its failure to run on. He added that in his opinion Cousin Louise would be better suited over a longer distance where the horse would be able to settle more comfortably in a forward position.

A Gibbons (Highron) stated that after being slow to begin he rode his mount along, however shortly after he became concerned with the Highron's action and consequently took hold of the gelding. He said Highron travelled satisfactorily whilst being held together, however in the early and middle stages on a number of occasions when he allowed Highron to stride it commenced to blunder and he again became concerned with its action. He said as a result he then eased the gelding down. Trainer Mr E Knight stated that the horse had worked well leading up to today's event and had shown no signs of any soreness. Two post race veterinary examinations of Highron did not reveal any abnormality. Mr Knight undertook to report on the condition of Highron in the days subsequent. Mr Knight was advised that before Highron is permitted to race again it must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards.

RACE 3 - SOTHERTONS MAIDEN HANDICAP (DIV 2) 1200M

Matalino and In Their Honour were slow to begin.

Hula Night, which overraced in the early stages, was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Runnin' Play.

For some distance on straightening Tactical Error raced in restricted room and was accidentally struck across the head on a number of occasions by the whip of L Cassidy Royal Conspiracy.

Approaching the 400M Matalino was steadied from the heels of Tactical Error.

RACE 4 - BROKEN BAY CATHOLIC DEVELOPMENT FUND MAIDEN HCP (DIV 1) 1200M

Fairy Story and Leading Edge were slow to begin.

Raspberry Man, which jumped awkwardly, was held up rounding the home turn.

RACE 5 - MAKINSON & d'APICE CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 2100M

Near the 700M Noble Touch became unbalanced when crowded between Hyper Oak and Gaza Guy (H Bowman) which shifted out to improve around the heels of Mont Blanc Magic. H Bowman was reprimanded and advised to ensure there is sufficient room in future to take runs.

In this incident Hyper Oak became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters.

A short distance later Gaza Guy was steadied when crowded between Mont Blanc Magic and Noble Touch, both of which shifted ground slightly.

Passing the 400M Dedewin and In The Bag were crowded for room between Scenic Boom and Mont Blanc Magic which shifted out when weakening.

RACE 6 - CLARE COMMUNICATIONS CLASS 6 HANDICAP 2100M

Shawn's Glow was hampered on jumping when crowded by Jacovic which shifted in.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion Kalos commenced to overrace and was checked away from the heels of The Vagrant for some distance.

Apprentice L Price (Gallant Pride) dropped his whip passing the 150M.

A post race veterinary examination of The Bank did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 7 - ALBERT AND MEYER FUNERAL DIRECTORS CL 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1600M

Thirio was slow to begin and shortly after was hampered by King Of Rhythm which was taken out by Brandavino.

When the pace steadied near the 900M Princess Os commenced to overrace and was checked away from the heels of Ritual, shifted out and hampered Brandavino.

Over the concluding stages Thirio (N Cumberland) shifted in whilst being ridden along resulting in Brandavino having to be steadied when momentarily crowded approaching the winning post. Apprentice N Cumberland was advised to exercise more care.

RACE 8 - BRIDGECORP FINANCIAL SERVICES CLASS 3 PLATE 1100M

Gold Again and Klazig were slow to begin.

Rounding the home turn Shout Us All was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between Yantra and Klazig, both of which shifted ground.

For some distance on straightening Gold Again was unable to obtain clear running when attempting a narrow run to the inside of Tropaion.

L Beasley (Ireland) stated that that his mount travelled well until the 600M when Switched On Time crossed in front. He said from that time on Ireland failed to travel and when placed under pressure on straightening did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. Trainer J Pride said Ireland had worked well leading into today's race and was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination of Ireland found the gelding to be displaying a poor post race recovery. Trainer J Pride undertook to report on the condition of Ireland in the days subsequent and was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required before the gelding is permitted to race again.

RACE 9 - BROKEN BAY THANK YOU CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200M

Acting on a confirmed called from trainer K Stewart Bedlam Boy was a late scratching at 3.11pm.

Apprentice C Karakatsanis (Quick Strike) was reprimanded for being unable to claim down to his riding weight.

Approaching the 800M Lapwing and Marfoo Star were checked to avoid the heels of Quick Strike (C Karakatsanis) which, after crossing to the front, steadied quickly. Apprentice Karakatsanis was reprimanded and advised to ensure that in similar circumstances he does not ease in front as quickly as he did on this occasion.

A post race veterinary examination of Spectroscope did not reveal any abnormality.
