RACE 1 – SMOKE-FREE TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP – 1050 metres

KATE’S ACE (B. Vale) was slow to jump.

EULYKER (N. Tomizawa) jumped away awkwardly.

KATE’S ACE (B. Vale) raced greenly throughout.

Inside the 600 metres MISS VODKA (T. Creek) was obliged to steady off the heels of PRETTY POISON (M. Neilson).

After entering the straight ROCK’S FOLLY (A. Stead) and HALO’S PRINCESS (M. Hoppo) raced greenly.

Subsequent to the race MISS VODKA was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

KATE’S ACE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who reported the mare was sore in the lower back.

HALO’S PRINCESS was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who reported the filly was exhibiting signs of respiratory distress.

RACE 2 – OAKBANK RACING CLUB MAIDEN PLATE – 1050 metres

REMEMBERANCE DAY (S. Price) was slow to jump.

In the vicinity of the 400 metres JELDI JELDI (C. Lindop), which was hesitant racing inside SO LATE (J. O’Connor), was inconvenienced when SO LATE rolled in.

S. Price, rider of REMEMBERANCE DAY, explained that after being slow to jump the gelding was inclined to over-race in the early stages of the event.

Mr. R. Daniel, Trainer of GRACE RESTORED, was advised that if the runner could not be more competitive in future, action may be taken against it.

RACE 3 – 2002 POLARCLAD GREAT NORTHERN STEEPLECHASE (OVER THE RAINBOW SERIES) – About 3000 metres

RULING LORD (J. Hateley) was slow to jump.

When questioned regarding his riding of RULING LORD in the middle stages of the race, J. Hateley explained that he had been instructed to allow his mount to settle and race within itself and to finish the race off. He stated that he believed his mount did not have the turn of foot to take closer position mid-race, and that he had niggled at his mount from approximately the 1200 metres and it had responded to his riding. Mr. M. De Campo, Trainer of RULING LORD, confirmed his instructions. After considering J. Hateley’s explanation, he was reprimanded and advised he should in future ride with more initiative and judgement. RULING LORD was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon, who reported no visible abnormalities.

J. Julian, rider of DELETE ME NOT, explained the mare was unsuited to rain affected tracks. A Veterinary examination of DELETE ME NOT revealed the mare exhibited a lower than expected heart rate.

RACE 4 – SA TAB 2Y & UP MAIDEN PLATE – 1600 metres

KENTON KNIGHT (B. Vale) and GEMQUEE (C. Bryant) were slow to jump.

DANGER CHARGER (M. Neilson) and JARBBAR (J. Maund) brushed together on jumping away.

At the entrance to the straight PROUD RIVER (K. Louca) shifted out and brushed TRUCE D’ETOILE (C. Lindop), resulting in that mare shifting out onto KENTON KNIGHT (B. Vale).

RACE 5 – SA TAB CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1400 metres

CHALTOM (J. Potter) jumped away awkwardly and then was unbalanced for several strides.

In the vicinity of the 1000 metres CLARENDON’S CURSE (C. Bryant) was tightened by SHOCKS (M. Neilson), which shifted out and RHONDA’S GIRL (N. Tomizawa), which was taken in slightly by METAL GOLD (J. Maund). M. Neilson was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

RACE 6 – STAN BANNEAR MEMORIAL FLYING HANDICAP – 1200 metres

B. Grimston was questioned over him being unable to make the allotted weight on KEDRON. After considering the explanation tendered B. Grimston was reprimanded and advised that in future breaches would lead to a penalty being imposed.

KEDRON (M. Hoppo) and BILLY RASCAL (J. O’Connor) were slow to jump.

Near the 300 metres BRINKLEY LASS (D. Cleaver) rolled in, at the same time as KURT (J. Bowditch) shifted out in attempting a tight run, resulting in those runners making contact and KURT being inconvenienced for a short distance.

On entering the straight BILLY RASCAL (J. O’Connor) was disappointed when attempting a run inside KURT (J. Bowditch), which held its running line.

RACE 7 – GAWLER MOTOR REWINDERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 metres

On arrival on course NEVADA RED was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, who declared the mare fit to start. NEVADA RED suffered a minor laceration to its lip as a result of float trauma.

NEVADA RED (K. Louca) was slow to jump.

Near the 1200 metres NEVADA RED (K. Louca) was obliged to steady off the heels of SUPREME REVIEW (B. Claridge), which rolled in.

Inside the 600 metres SUPREME REVIEW (B. Claridge) was obliged to steady off the heels of DANCIN’ MAX (B. Vale), which got its head up and was inclined to race ungenerously.

On returning to Scale REGAL OCCASION left the racetrack and dislodged its rider A. Stead. Mr. B. Pateyjohns, Trainer of the mare, was advised that similar behaviour in future would lead to action being taken against it.

Subsequent to the race LEMOXIE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who reported the mare was lame in the off hind leg. Mr. D. Halliday, Trainer of LEMOXIE, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for a future event.

RACE 8 – WOLF BLASS WINES DISTANCE CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1950 metres

The start of this race was delayed owing to DAMOCLES proving difficult to load. Mr. B. Bogarts, Trainer of DAMOCLES, was advised that a repetition of the gelding’s behaviour would lead to action being taken against it.
