RACE ONE CLASS 6 HCP – 12OO M

Shortly after the start OUR POWERBALL had to be eased off the heels of DAVE’S CHANCE which shifted out away from STORM CONTROL which shifted out and bumped that gelding on two occasions.

Near the 250 metres DAVE’S CHANCE, which was weakening, had to be eased off the heels of HI TAIL (D Bates) which shifted in abruptly. Shortly after this D Bates dropped his whip

RACE TWO CLASS DHCP – 12OO M

Acting on a report from the clubs’ veterinary surgeon that MOSSE had an injury which may effect it’s performance, stewards ordered the withdrawal of MOSSE at 1.53pm. Mr S Paynter, trainer of MOSSE was found guilty of a charge under AR140(a) with having failed to report to the stewards as soon as practicable an injury that MOSSE had suffered that necessitated the late scratching of the filly. Mr Paynter was fined the sum of $250.

On jumping away CRYSTAL SHINE shifted out and took BELOTTO BOY out onto the hindquarters of NEARMISS, hampering that mare.

Stewards questioned G Clarke, rider of TARCOOLA MAGIC, which performed below expectations. G Clarke stated that the horse travelled well until he asked it for an effort in the straight and from that point it was a beaten horse. He further stated that the horse tends not to finish on strongly in trackwork and although it won it’s previous start, tended to weaken towards the end of the race.

Ms K Petrick, trainer of TOMMY TEE was fined $50 for failing to lodge a transfer of ownership for that gelding as instructed.

RACE THREE CLASS 1 HCP – 1OOO M

After being placed in the barriers LORD ERSKINE got down and had to be let out via the front gates. As some of it’s gear was broken and to avoid an unnecessary delay, stewards ordered the withdrawal of LORD ERSKINE at 3.08pm.

Subsequent to the event stewards ordered all monies wagered on LORD ERSKINE to be refunded and the following betting deductions. All monies wagered prior to the withdrawal of LORD ERSKINE to be paid as follows- For the win, face value of the ticket less 23 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 18 cents in the dollar.

On jumping away FRAAGYLE LUCK was buffeted between TIBER and JOVIAL TRYST. Rounding the turn FRAAGYLE LUCK hung out badly.

P Denton, rider of RIGHT STUFF notified the stewards that the gelding hung in badly rounding the turn and in the early part of the straight and for this reason he was unable to ride him out in his normal manner.

RACE FOUR CLASS 3 HCP – 13OO M

On jumping away SHODIYM shifted in and bumped PINON and then rolled out and bumped KOTARA.

Near the 500 metres SHODIYM was tightened for room slightly by TYPE CAST which rolled in momentarily.

Rounding the turn PINON was tightened for room by AIM TO PLEASE which rolled in under pressure.

S Brownbill (a), rider of ALL PO was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that near the 800 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of SHODIYM, further that he was easing his mount. This resulted in SHODIYM having to be checked and clip ALL PO’s heels. S Brownbill (a) was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 6th July 2002 (3 meetings).

RACE FIVE OPEN HCP – 15OO M

Rounding the first turn CATHALOOK got it’s head up and raced ungenerously.

Near the 550 metres MR CENTREFOLD was held up for a clear run behind IMPOSING KEN and RICH SKY (NZ).

G Clarke, trainer of GREENIE was fined $20 for using club colours on that gelding.

Ms K Petrick, trainer of RICH SKY (NZ) notified the stewards that she had lodged a stable return to put blinkers on that gelding on Tuesday 11 June however the blinkers did not appear in the racebook. Acting on her assurance, stewards permitted the gelding to race in blinkers today.

During the event RICH SKY (NZ) suffered an attack of bleeding.

1st GARLANDTOWN MOON 2nd RUBIOKE 3rd IMPOSING KEN

RACE SIX OPEN HCP – 1OOO M

Rounding the first turn JAMIE-SON had a tendancy to hang out.

Prior to correct weight being declared the connections of RADICAL MOVER requested to view the photo finish for first. After connections viewed the photo finish correct weight was declared.

Mr B Halter, trainer of JAMIE-SON was fined $50 for failing to lodge a stable return for that gelding in accordance with LR56.

1st CHALET’S MAGIC and RADICAL MOVER dead heat 3rd HIGH REVS

All winners were swabbed today.
