On jumping away SHORTAZ shifted out onto
MAJESTIC ANNIE and then knuckled.
Near the 600 metres SHORTAZ had to be eased
off the heels of CABIN which was weakening and for the remainder of the turn raced
greenly.
Rounding the turn CABIN had a tendency to
lay out.

RACE TWO MAIDEN HCP 15OO M
Shortly after the start SIR OSCAR shifted
out and bumped MAGIC CITY which began unbalanced.
Near the 700 metres MONSOONS clipped the
heels of JULIGHT which was weakening. Approaching the winning post MONSOONS shifted in
necessitating its rider J Hallam (a) to stop riding and straighten his mount.

RACE THREE CLASS D HCP 1OOO M
When the gates opened STEAMING was slow
into stride. Near the 700 metres STEAMING was tightened for room between DEL AREE and
BOWEN SPECIAL (M McDuff) which shifted in. As a result DEL AREE and BOWEN SPECIAL received
pressure on their hindquarters and were inconvenienced. M McDuff was reprimanded and
notified that he must ensure he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground in future.
Near the 600 metres CRACKARAMA (NZ) hung
out and in so doing forced SWAMP THING out onto the heels of CHECK OR BET resulting in
SWAMP THING having to be checked severely and clipping heels.
Rounding the home turn BOWEN SPECIAL had to
be checked off the heels of ROMANTIC GIFT (J Hallam) which rolled in, SWAMP QUEEN which
was following was hampered as a consequence. J Hallam was severely reprimanded and
notified that he would be expected to ensure he is 2 lengths clear of other runners before
shifting ground in future.
Approaching the winning post PRISMS was
tightened for room by ROMANTIC GIFT which shifted in.
During the race CRACKARAMA (NZ) suffered an
attack of bleeding.

OSSIE. 3rd BUCKLERS HARD.
RACE FOUR WFA PLATE 16OO M
Near the 1200 metres CENTRE RUN struck the
running rail.
In the latter part of the straight STAR
BULLET had a tendancy to lay in.
D Arnold was found guilty of a charge under
AR175(a) with an improper action in that when he weighed out to ride STAR BULET he weighed
out with a saddle which was not mounted with stirrups, stirrup leathers or girth. D Arnold
was suspended from riding in races for a period of 3 months.

Approaching the winning post DALVUI (NZ)
shifted in taking ROCKHOUND in slightly.
Rounding the turn NYSTROM had a tendency to
lay out.
1st DALVUI (NZ). 2nd
ROCKHOUND. 3rd WOODWARD.
RACE SIX CLASS 4 HCP 12OO M
As J Scorse was indisposed Stewards
permitted M McDuff to replace him as the rider of MISS JANELLE.
On jumping away ASSIFF was tightened for
room and had to be checked between ON HAND and EMBRACES which both shifted. Shortly after
this ON HAND and EMBRACES were racing tight and shifted out slightly as OL BLUE EYES
(R Cartwright) was shifting in. R Cartwright was notified that he would be expected to
ensure he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground in future. As this incident occurred
SKYE KAYJOY (B Cornell) began to shift in and take OLBLUE EYES in. B Cornell was
notified that he must ensure he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground.
Approaching the winning post KALASHOW was
taken in by ASSIFF (T Gillett). T Gillett was reprimanded and notified that in similar
circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount.

All winners were swabbed today
Stewards concluded an inquiry into T Gillett putting on a
pair of spurs after he had weighed out to ride CENTRE STORM on Saturday 28th
July, 2001. T Gillett stated that he removed the spurs after riding in the previous race
as they were tight and hurting his foot, he then weighed out and put the spurs back on
believing that it would have a negligible effect on the weight carried by the horse. T
Gillett was reprimanded and notified that in future he must ensure that he does not add to
or remove or change any equipment with which he has weighed. |
