Race 1 - COMMERCIAL HOTEL 4YO & UP MAIDEN
PLATE
Dual Rajah was slow to begin. On jumping away North Road
knuckled. Throughout the race and until the Winning Post, Only Orbison hung out and proved
difficult to ride. Subsequent to the race, the Club Veterinary Surgeon examined both Dual
Rajah and Only Orbison and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality with the
geldings.
Race 2 - COUNTRY ROAD FARM SUPPLIES MAIDEN PLATE
During the running of the race, Calling O'Rielly (NZ) lost
its off-fore plate. Murilla Gorilla was slow to begin and lost ground. Also Le Coup and
Junior Grey were slow to begin. Que Breaker lost its footing behind and as a result, was
slow to begin. Shortly after the start, Jessieo was hampered when tightened for room
between Taitwig and Junior Grey, which shifted out slightly. Approaching the home-turn,
Wynfred raced greenly and, rounding the home-turn, Almighty Zena threw its head in the air
and raced ungenerously, when racing between Beach Day and Calling O'Reilly (NZ). Also at
this stage, Bora (N. Wilson) laid out. N. Wilson, rider of the mare stated that Bora
showed early pace but commenced to lay-out rounding the home-turn, and when weakening, was
awkward in its action, and in his opinion, showed signs of shin-soreness. Subsequent to
the race, the Club Vet reported that Bora showed no apparent abnormality. From the 200
metres to the Winning Post, Taitwig had a tendency to lay-in when under pressure.
Race 3 - MCDOWELLS MITRE 10 CLASS 3 HANDICAP

Race 5 - HAMPDEN HOTEL CORANGAMITE CUP
When the gates opened Olokai and Wildfire came together and
shortly after the start, Mr. Lancelot was hampered when tightened for room between
Bitasted and Toreador, which shifted out slightly. In the early stages of the race, Mr.
Lancelot got its head up when over-racing.
Race 6 - CAMPERDOWN FOODWAY F & M CLASS 1
HANDICAP
The start of the race was delayed due to This Kiss being
re-shod in the Mounting Yard. When the gates opened, Runelle and Palais D'Or knuckled.
Deux Mille jumped away awkwardly.
Race 7 - LEES IGA SUPERMARKETS CLASS 4 HANDICAP
Turning out of the straight for the first time, Brush With
Fame (NZ) had to be checked when tightened for room between Ti Tree Flyer and Tartan
Affair, both of whom shifted ground. Subsequent to the race, the Club Vet recorded no
apparent abnormality with Gratisam, which had performed poorly.
Race 8 - J. H. MONK REAL ESTATE CLASS 2 HANDICAP
On jumping away, Jackawill was hampered when tightened for
room between Bonnie Mist and Canonicity, both of whom shifted.

Race 4 - A routine swab was taken from the winner, Tubbarubba Lady.

FINES AND EXPLANATIONS -
Race 6 - Mr. A. Payne, trainer of Deux Mille was
fined the sum of $30.00 for using the wrong colours on the mare. Mr. J. McArthur, trainer
of This Kiss, was severely reprimanded for presenting the mare in the Mounting Yard
without it being properly shod behind. Mr. J. McArthur, trainer of This Kiss was fined the
sum of $50.00 for presenting the mare in the Mounting Yard without blinkers, when in fact
This Kiss was a blinkered horse. |
